  1. I can host that winntbbu for a week or so until you find a more permanent location for it. Let me know if your interested
  2. ScubaSteve, the last thing I want to do is start a flamewar or sound like I'm being disrespectful, but you are using a browser that's used by less than 1% of the people on the Internet. This is identical to choosing to drive a car that requires regular fuel and complaining about how there are no gas stations around to sell you gas. I'm only saying something because I know the moderators aren't going to. Let them design the site the way they see fit, and if you have rendering issues, switch to the de-facto standard.
  3. If you're using WinXP on both boxes you just need to wait a few minutes for them to figure out that there is no DHCP server present. At that point they will assign themselves an IP address in the 169.254.xxx.xxx range. You should then be able to share folders, printers, etc. Regards, B)
  4. Sure is. You'll need a PXE-compliant network card on the workstation you're trying to install to, and a Remote Install Server somewhere on your network configured to push OS images over the wire. Active Directory would be the easiest way to achieve this (assuming you have the hardware and network in place already), and it's very handy during LAN gamefests when your guests need an up to date OS image complete with games and patches. Of course, all of this is way outside the scope of a forum, so your best bet would be to hit the Interweb and prepare to spend a lot of time learning. Hope this helps!
  5. The Army styles my hair =]
  6. Hey Peachy, what mobo are you using, if you don't mind me asking? I'm running a P4C800 Deluxe, and I get the infamous file copy errors during unattended setups. I know this has been covered hundreds of times in several posts/forums, but there really doesn't seem to be a definitive working guide for this particular motherboard.
  7. Yeah, I get that too on my P4C800 Deluxe. As best as I can tell it's a bug in the BIOS, as it's plagued me since I bought the thing. Not to mention that making changes in the BIOS sometimes causes it to revert back to the factory settings. I've noticed that making any changes to the HDD settings will cause the checksum error, as well as wipe out any other custom configurations I've made to the BIOS. Decent board, but I'm less than thrilled about the software support for it. Asus seems to have slipped on this one issue, and I'm not too happy with the Promise drivers and their inability to install correctly (read: BSOD, file copy errors, etc) during an unattended setup. Heh, I'm not trying to whine
  8. Check Here for best practices on how to set up Active Directory correctly
  9. Yes. Your DNS settings are incorrect. Active Directory and Group Policy depends heavily on accurate DNS. My guess is that your DC is using your ISP DNS servers for name resolution, when it should be pointed at itself.
