  1. Okay.. so Ive verified my problem isnt with that one pc which doesnt have the 'TCP/IP NetBIOS Helper' service, Ive tested this out on other, non-modified pcs on the network and i have the same problem... Another thing to add is that its ALWAYS the same sub-folders that I cant see when accessing the shares... it doesnt change every time or at all for that matter. Now to respond to replies... I actually mistyped in my previous post, i have simple file sharing off on all pcs Its selected on all pcs... I have it set to 'Default' on all pcs. I think Ive even tried setting it to enabled on all pcs and had the same problem. No, this isnt the problem. The sub-folders that dont show up, never show up. Not even momentarily as you said.**** this is annoying.. but Im glad to hear Im not the only one with the problem.
  2. Inverted comma's??
  3. Does anyone know if 'start /wait' command works in WPI? I havent tested it, but thought Id check to see if anyone else is using it without issue.. For example: start /wait "Title" C:\whatever.cmd Which of course will keep anything else from executing until the 'whatever.cmd' completes. Thanks!
  4. Well, I can tell you that... 1. I always have the 'Display full path in address bar' checked 2. Ive checked permissions about 10 times and verified that all parent permissions are propagating to the child objtecs 3. Have Simple File Sharing turned on. Im going to try to get around to remaking my UACD in the next few days, ensuring that the NetBIOS component isnt removed and post back my results.
  5. Suppose I should have included it in my original post... but I tried prior to posting and it doesnt seem to work. Ive actually found more NSIS packages that dont support the /D paramter, than those that do.
  6. Nice, so youre not really installing it, rather copying the files into place and tossing in some reg enties. Thanks!
  7. Hosts file still has the IP/Hostname in it and Ive verified that NetBIOS is set to default. After a bit more digging.. i think i may know what the problem is... after comparing a normal PC, which had a factory installed copy of Windows, to the one thats having the issue resolving hostnames, I found that the one with the issue doesnt have the Windows service 'TCP/IP NetBIOS Helper'. I must have nLite'd it out without realizing it. I would assume not having this service would cause this type of problem.
  8. Anyone know how to change the installation path for this?
  9. Another quick question for ya Pry... any idea how to change the installdir of the iPod stuff? I install iTunes to an alternate path using INSTALLDIR, but the iPod dir still gets created in Program Files.
  10. Well, the issue has suddenly come back again... and the only way I can figure out to get around it is to use the IP address to access my PC's shares and not the hostname. Using the IP address works everytime, but using the hostname sporadically causes the above to occur... strange!
  11. Well, 1st Id try using the switches on the exe.. if that doesnt work, launch the exe, then look in the subdirectories %TEMP% and you should find the extracted meedio installer files... just grab the msi and youre good to go. Oh.. and by the way, Ive yet to find out how to silently apply the serial key. If someone is going to be installing a fresh copy, can they try using a Registry monitoring tool to see if thats where its kept?
  12. You install it just as you would any MSI... setup.msi INSTALLDIR="C:\Multimedia\Meedio Essentials" /qn As far as your config.. youll need to setup you config of how you want everything 1st, then backup the following, which I found out from here (great forum there btw too): configuration.xml library <folder> plugins <folder> themes <folder>
  13. Ive found from previous experience that when removing certain components from the windows install disc (a la nLite), you cant simply 'install' those missing portions. Honestly, your best bet is to start with a fresh copy of your windows install cd and re-do the nlite processes ensuring your dont remove that particular component.
  14. Youre in luck! It just so happens you can find the answers to all of those with just one link!
  15. Ive never installed Windows Updates manually, so Im not familiar with the commands to do so, but assuming you use the same command for each file, you could make a pretty simple batch file that loops through all of the files in the directory. If I had some extra time, id post an example.. but if youre familiar with batch, google 'for each batch', that should get to what youre looking for.
  16. You aint kidding...
  17. Holy crap... did you just close your eyes and click reply to this topic? Cause your question has absolutely nothing to do with this thread....
  18. wow... ppl still use netscape??
  19. Dumpy's right.. theres plently to get you started there... Astalavista also tossed together a 'newbie' guide... check it
  20. So how is this different than the one on the MSFN downloads page?
  21. In all of that rambling, you didnt mention anything that will allow someone to help you with a particular problem. There are many different components to setting up a UACD and simply saying you cant figure out batch files and runonceex doesnt mean a thing to anyone... So lets calm down, try again and ask a legitamate question that will allow someone to give a specific answer. And in the future, please allow more than 2 hours for ppl to respond, before replying to your own posts...
  22. @ it Im running DHCP from my router, but the PC that is sharing out all of the folders is setup with a static IP. All PC's are on the same octet and subnet, none of them are running XP firewall, all are XP pro, same accounts are setup on both machines and Im accessing the folders via the admin shares. Ive even tried setting up seperate shares in the parent directories of the folders that wouldnt show up. Heres the actual problem: I've got my mp3 collection shared as "\\durexbox\music\" The problem is that for two PCs on the LAN, some of the folders within that share don't show up. Here's an example directory tree: - durexbox (computer name) - music (shared folder) - 311 (artist) - From Chaos (cd title) - 01 - You Get Worked.mp3 (and so on for all the tracks...) Here's the problem: I can view down to the artist folder, but the cd folder doesn't show up; when I double-click on 311, I just see an empty directory. If I manually type into the address bar "\\durexbox\music\311\From Chaos" then I can view and play all the mp3s in that folder (so it's not really an access problem, it's just that I can't *see* the folders), but if I then go Up one level, the "From Chaos" folder still doesn't appear. The other thing is that if I go to the music share folder via the PC's IP address (192.168.1.100) instead of the network name (durexbox), then everything *will* be visible. I don't have this problem with every artist in my collection - it's just random ones, and it doesn't seem to be related to when the folder or files were created. Also, the other PC on the LAN doesn't have this problem; all the folders and files are perfectly viewable from it. Ive checked and re-checked permissions and all folders are setup the same. Hope this makes sense. So again.... still no idea why I have the problem, but it got fixed as soon as I tossed the IP and hostname in the hosts file
