  1. I have heard one or two people mention using something to detect changes in the registry to find which entries need to be added/edited to apply certain settings. I am at the last tidying up of my unattended CD but there are some things I just can't quite nail. I have tried searching to find out what tool people are using to detect registry changes with no luck. I'm guessing it envolves exporting the entire registry, then making the changes then exporting it again and comparing the 2 files. Can anyone tell me how/what to use to detect these changes and finish my last reg file?
  2. Almost done with my unattended CD bar these last few little bits and pieces. After my installation finishes here is the list of things I still have to do before the system is "how I like it" for a fresh install. Classic start menu enabled Display administrative tools in start menu Expand Contol panel in SM Expand Net Cons in SM Show small icons in SM Unlock Taskbar Return XP Classic Theme Delete Windows Catalogue and Windows Update from Start Menu Classic Window View Show details in My Computer Display contents of system folders Unhide Protected system files Enable Status bar in My Computer Remove My Docs and IE icons from the desktop Disable default sound scheme I'm guessing the bulk of this is gonna be a regfile addition. Any help much appreciated.
  3. It's probably becuase the AutoLogon referred to a username which no longer exists! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No because this autologon occurs prior to the username rename script. It turns out that autologon only works if the password in stated in the winnt.sif in cleartext, encryption does not work.
  4. This actually worked fine. VB script above, ECHO. ECHO Renaming User accounts ECHO Please wait... start /wait %systemdrive%\Install\accounts.vbs Within my start.cmd script executed on the first logon after the install. [GUIRunOnce] in my winnt.sif I now have every thing working fully unattended apart from initial partitioning (left that attended on purpose.) and more frustratingly the autologon after the main GUI XP install. I still have to enter my password manually to logon and start the OEM installations. [GuiUnattended] AdminPassword=MD5 Hash removed EncryptedAdminPassword=Yes AutoLogon=Yes AutoLogonCount=1 OEMSkipRegional=1 TimeZone=85 OemSkipWelcome=1 any ideas why this fails?
  5. Would that work in my start.cmd like this? ECHO. ECHO Renaming User accounts ECHO Please wait... start /wait %systemdrive%\Install\accounts.vbs
  6. Hi, Just getting my first unattended install CD together and one thing I haven't worked out how to do yet is make it so my install renames the Administrator and Guest account for me. At the moment I have to use gpedit.msc to apply the changes after the install and I would really like them to be unattended. Any ideas how I do this?
