cant get past create user account, setup internet
durex replied to blasted's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
So you dont want to have windows automatically login and want to be prompted for a password to login? If so, remove the line "REGEDIT /S autologin.reg" from your "useraccounts.cmd" file. Then there no need to even have the autologin.reg file. -
@Yzowl Ah.. youre right.. my prob was I was looking at the "Shell Folders" keys which all use absolute paths and REG_SZ as type. My bad and thx for the clarification!

If by setup.cmd you mean runonceex.cmd, than yes, you need to login (regardless of whether you do it manually or automatically) before it can launch. Im still not sure what your problem is here. -

Youre losing me here.... this doesnt have anything to do with your original post. If youre getting the internet startup screen then the UnattendSwitch isnt being recognized. If youre 'ik' user account isnt being created than theres something wrong with your useraccount and/or autologin files... are they in the same place as your cmdlines.txt? If youre having a problem installing your applications than thats a whole other issue... -

Try removing the quotes from UnattendSwitch -
um... yea. I knew that. Just making sure you were still paying attention.

Yes.. its true. Im finally starting to come to terms with it. I now find myself hitting refresh on the unattended and switches forums every few minutes to see what new little tweak I can apply to my uA or what newbie question I can offer my 2cents on. Thats all... Ive learned from many other addictions that admitting you have a problem is the 1st step in dealing with it.

Here are the latest RyanVM Full Update Packs... 1.0.3 to 1.0.4 Full Upgrade Pack (4.21MB) Update Pack Full 1.0.4 (11.5MB) The contents and specifics of these packs can be found at the following Google cached link of RyanVM's download page... (NOTE: Keep in mind none of the download links are going to work on this page... just for info only) Ive got plenty of bandwith, so there shouldnt be any issue with downloading these. I hope Im not stepping on anyones toes by hosting these... Obviously if anyone feels as though I shouldnt be (especially Ryan), drop me a PM.

Few Start Menu Items not affected in cleanup...
durex replied to durex's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Um... how about... del filename.cmd at the end of your batch file... -
Looking at a non-modifed pc and theyre all stored as REG_SZ... why do they need to be changed to REG_EXPAND? I thought that was only needed if your string contained multiple lines...

Anyone know why certain windows commands dont work at the beginning of the RunOnceEx? 2 things in particular... the VidChange program doesnt seem to be working... I have it as the very 1st thing in my runonce; the program is in my $$\System32 folder... REG ADD %KEY%\000 /V 1 /D "1395VidChng.exe 1024x768x32@85 -q" /f also, like the 3rd or 4th thing is trying to remove a folder... REG ADD %KEY%\021 /V 3 /D "RD /S /Q %systemdrive%\OfficeTEMP" /f it actually comes back with an error saying it cant find the program 'RD'.. its as though windows doesnt recognize it as a native command. I know Ive had issues with VBScripts where because its so early in the runonce and windows hasnt 'fully booted' that many vb commands dont work, perhaps this is something like that issue? any ideas? Thanks guys.

The following RegTweaks change the location of where windows looks for your Wallpaper images, My Docs, My Pics and Favs ;--- WallpaperDir set to D:\!Personal!\My Pictures\Wallpaper [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion] "WallPaperDir"=hex(2):44,00,3a,00,5c,00,21,00,50,00,65,00,72,00,73,00,6f,00,6e,\ 00,61,00,6c,00,21,00,5c,00,4d,00,79,00,20,00,50,00,69,00,63,00,74,00,75,00,\ 72,00,65,00,73,00,5c,00,57,00,61,00,6c,00,6c,00,70,00,61,00,70,00,65,00,72,\ 00,00,00 ;----- Change default location of Wallpaper, My Docs, Favorites and My Pics [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders] "Personal"="D:\Personal\My Documents" "Favorites"="D:\Personal\Favorites" "My Pictures"="D:\Personal\Pics" [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders] "Personal"="D:\Personal\My Documents" "Favorites"="D:\Personal\Favorites" "My Pictures"="D:\Personal\Pics" And to answer your second question, it looks like it uses the full path in the registry.

Photoshop CS Silent (THAT WORKS!)
durex replied to millington_lee's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
same here millington. Look at the last 2 posts and thats EXACTLY how you get this to work. -
Simon, Asta... I just wanted to say thanks a ton for this. I finally got my FF install with custom profile all finished up. This guide has come a LONG way.. I rememeber looking at simons instructions about a month ago and being quite overwhelmed with what was involved in getting everything right. But you guys have done a bunch of work to make this just about as easy as can be. Thanks again guys and keep up the great work!

Few Start Menu Items not affected in cleanup...
durex replied to durex's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
That doesnt work as you end up with the quotes in your variable and again, Ive got a ton of other shortcuts and folders that are being effected using these variables without issue. Thats probably it... anyone have a good way to clean these up, short of manually doing it after logging on? -
So in my cleanup.cmd i have the following lines that arent working... set AUStart=%AllUsersProfile%\Start Menu\Programs set UserStart=%UserProfile%\Start Menu\Programs MOVE /Y "%UserStart%\Internet Explorer.lnk" "%AUStart%\Internet" MOVE /Y "%UserStart%\Outlook Express.lnk" "%AUStart%\Internet" RD /S /Q "%AUStart%\Administrative Tools" its not the variables because I have a ton of other shortcuts that are also being moved and folder that are being deleted. It seems as though its specific to these couple shortcuts and admin tools folder... Any ideas? Thanks!

Use Advanced Search Option by default?
durex replied to durex's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
So i finally got around to trying this out and even after using the following regtweaks I still need to choose advanced options when I open windows search... [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer] "SearchSystemDirs"=dword:00000001 "SearchHidden"=dword:00000001 "IncludeSubFolders"=dword:00000001 "CaseSensitive"=dword:00000000 "SearchSlowFiles"=dword:00000000 ;----- Enable Classic Search [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\CabinetState] "FullPath"=dword:00000001 "FullPathAddress"=dword:00000001 "Use Search Asst"="no" "Settings"=hex:0c,00,02,00,1b,01,e7,77,60,00,00,00 ;----- Disable "Search Dog" and use advanced search [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Search Assistant] "Actor"="" "SocialUI"=dword:00000000 "UsageCount"=dword:00000000 "UseAdvancedSearchAlways"=dword:00000001 ;----- Search All File Types [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\ContentIndex] "FilterFilesWithUnknownExtensions"=dword:00000001 any ideas? -

Bookmarks manager!!!!!! You ever try to organize the bookmark folders? Moving a seperator to a particular location? Its impossilble. Theres absolutely no rhyme or reason to it... you try to move a folder to the top of the list and 2 other random folders change position. You try to create a seperator 3 folders down from the top and it ends up 1 up from the last folder... its maddening. Has anyone found any extension that gives you any control over this as its the only thing that drives me friggin batty about FF.
-
dammit... so theres no way I can simply apply my existing settings to the default profile? EDIT: Theres got to be a way... I just copied my bookmarks.html over to the default one and it works without issue... I guess I just need to figure out exactly which files need to be copied over... Do you see an issue with this?
