  1. I've asked this question on a few forums, and have never been given an answer. However, you can share contacts with your OE address book, and then make a shortcut to that address book.
  2. Thanks for the thought, but it didn't work. The new item returned after I started Photoshop again. So I tried something radical and removed the entire .psd entry in the Registry. That seems to have done it, but I'm not sure what effects removing the .psd entry will have later on. Photoshop seems to be working okay.
  3. Thanks for the suggestion. At first, I thought it might work, but after a while the item returns, and appears once again, listed in TweakUI.
  4. I recently installed Photoshop 7 on my XP machine. When I right-click on my desktop and choose new, I get new folder, new shortcut, and new photoshop document. I want to permanently remove the photoshop item. I have tweakUI installed and have removed it using that utility, but everytime I use photoshop, it comes back. Sometimes it even comes back, after a while, when I haven't used photoshop. Can anyone tell me how to permanently remove this item from the right-click menu? Thanks.
  5. Regarding the pictures, showing where the forward/backward arrows are missing: If anyone figures out why they're not there, please post the information. I've given up on Vista because I wanted to use the Classic Windows UI, but even when you switch to the Classic view, those arrow keys remain (although) they are greyed out. I'd really like to be able to hide them completely. Thanks.
  6. Anyone know how to remove the Soundmax Icon from the Control Panel (XP)? TweakUI doesn't do it, neither is there an Namespace entry in the registry. There are a few .cpl files in the system32 folder, but I can see if Soundmax is one of them. This really minor thing is frustrating me. Anyone have an answer?

  8. Thanks for the short tutorial. Everything worked exactly as you listed. For any one out there who has experience with Firefox installs, I have two additional questions: When Firefox is started for the first time, and just after it asks if I want to import anything from Internet Explorer, I'm presented with a list of the extensions I added to the install. I have to click on the "install" button to install them and continue. Is there somewhere I can configure the setup to automatically choose "install" and install them without a prompt? I know where to place the desired extensions, so does anyone know where I would place any additional themes in the Firefox installation folders? I really appreciate the help you gave to me.
  9. I was playing around with Firefox (adding some extensions), and thought I'd try to incorporate them into the setup application. I used WinRAR to extract the files and got a setup file along with some data folders. I put the extension files where I wanted them, but I don't know anything about how to "recompile" the extracted files back into a single setup file. Can anyone point me to something that might help me learn how to do this? Thanks (Hope I put this in the right forum area).
  10. Internet Explorer: In Internet Options, Advanced tab, there is a checkbox that says 'Warn if changing between secure and not secure mode'. Does anyone know of a Registry file that will do the same thing (that is, uncheck that box)? Thanks.
  11. "and it did the coolest thing" Can you give us some examples of these cool things that Office 2003, or for that matter Office 2000, can't do? For the average user, which includes most of us, Office 2007 gave us nothing in the way of real improvements. Sure, the Ribbon was a different approach, but they should have made it smaller, and like the OP said, included the most used functions on the Ribbon, and not as a drop down menu. I thought the whole point of the Ribbon was to eliminate that kind of stuff. I was hoping for some UI changes with SP1, but we got nothing. Even a few addition color schemes would have been nice; maybe something that didn't look like a child's typing program. What was wrong with the original Office 2000 grey color scheme? I understand that this whole thread is kind of useless. Supporters of MS will always paint their products in the best possible light, and MS, itself, has a well documented history of never listening to its own user base. By the way, I'm still running Office 2000.
  12. The drivers for the HP Pavilion dv6000z CTO Notebook PC are known to work for your notebook. Here's the listing of XP drivers: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwar...052〈=en There are a few postings on the HP support forum, where this solution has worked. Good luck.
  13. They can download a free MS Word viewer from Microsoft: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;displaylang=en It lets you read, but not edit Word documents.
  14. Build 3244 was released a while back. Anyone know what build this new release is?
  15. It's always been a bit of an irritant to me, that when MS comes out with a new Office version, they don't follow through with their work on the GUI. In 2003, for example, they changed the look of the main toolbars and the drop down menus, but left the dialog boxes with the grey 2000 styles. I have often wondered, if it's possible, to either update the look of those boxes, or better still, find a way to make the main toolbars and drop down menus revert back to the Office 2000 color and style? I've found a few threads, in some forums, that show that you can find and extract the toolbar icons from the Office setup files, so I'm thinking, it's technically possible, but might require some work. Has anyone else given this any thought? Any links to posts or sites that discuss this? Thanks.
  16. Sorry, I should have made my request more specific. I'm looking for the system icons for Windows 98/Me, but my current OS is XP, so I don't have access to any of the folders on a Windows 9X machine. Maybe there's a website or a place on the net to get these old icons?
  17. Anyone know where I might find copies of the Windows 98 system icons? Like the one for calculator, address book, and others? Thanks.
  18. Thanks for the answer. At least it's annoying, by design!
  19. This may be the wrong part of the forum to ask this, but, how come my post (above) can be found in the TechArena Community forum? I didn't post it there, or anywhere else except at MSFN. Are the two forums related? Do they share postings? Update: Good grief, now the post appears in the forum at www.tabletquestions.com. What's happening?
  20. I have noticed that one of the columns in my Outlook 2003 Inbox is shaded. Is there a reason for this? And, is there a setting that can remove that shading? Image attached. Thanks.
  21. Thanks for jogging my memory. I should have remembered that location. Worked great!
  22. I just need a Registry tweak that will remove "Messenger" or "Windows Messenger" from the drop down menu, under Tools, in IE6. I have already removed Messenger from my system, but the item remains in the menu selection. Thanks.
  23. PS Tray Factory is a small, unobtrusive, utility that will do this for you. Check it out at: http://www.pssoftlab.com/pstf_info.phtml
  24. Look under "File" in the main Menu Bar.
  25. What's the status of Windows XP 64 Bit? Has there been any Service Packs released yet? If the answer is yes, can someone post a link? Thanks.
