  1. doesn't default user apply to all, even future users? Default user is the base for all future users.... or so I understand. $OEM$\$Docs\Default User\ I can't remember which site I copy/pasted this from, but I'm pretty sure the link was in the MSFN UA Guide: (Alanoll may know off-hand) yep- found it in MSFN UACD/DVD Guide GreenMachine's site
  2. not a shortcut, but copy bginfo.exe into startup folder...! BGInfo - SysInternals So, copy bginfo.exe to $OEM$\$Docs\Default User\Start Menu\Programs\Startup or $OEM$\$Docs\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup (All users ??) see also loading saved config files (appearance and what-not) at same page at SysInternals.
  3. I have those also- opened them in both Notepad and EditPadLite, but was gibberish. You may also want to check out HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Control\Creative Tech\Emu10kx\DevCon\{00000002-00000000-00000001-00001102-00000004-20021102}\CurrentSpeakerInfo and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Control\Creative Tech\Emu10kx\DevCon\{00000002-00000000-00000002-00001102-00000004-20021102}\CurrentSpeakerInfo and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Control\Creative Tech\Emu10kx\HardwareState These settings can also be found under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Creative Tech\Emu10kx..... as well as any other ControlSets you may have in that branch.
  4. Viewing many many reg entries, tracing the references, etc... leads me to believe that the speaker settings (for my Au2ZS) are saved at C:\Documents and Settings\Nunya\Application Data\Creative\Calibrator files: SPKR0000.SDF SPKR0001.SDF The SPKR0000.SDF shows a modification change dated today (when I did another RegShot experiment) and the SPKR0001.SDF shows 9/1/04 (Don't know about that one- maybe my driver upgrade? If so, maybe SPKR0001 is the default?). Both files were created at same time 3/16/2004 (according to Win Explorer). Both files are gibberish when I open them. Also- there are no Creative entries under C:\Documents and Settings\All Users... or C:\Documents and Settings\Default..... or any other- just my current user, which may mean SPKR0001 is for the Default settings for current user? <- (guessing) I have a headache- EDIT: maybe SPKR0000 is for one setting (my 5.1) and SPKR0001 is for my headphones? Or vice-versa? These are the only 2 spkr settings I have ever used/changed. Just a thought.
  5. Keep in mind my Soundcard is an Audigy2ZS, so our entries will be different, as well as diff user and PC (I know, you knew that already). Have you tried saving your settings as "default" and going from there? I believe (guess) that .SDF = "Speaker Data File" and .CDF = "Configuration Data File" ??? *Win Explorer lists the .CDF as a "Channel" file under 'Type' column. Gonna take a look at my SB CD and see..... whatever. My {00000002-00000000-00000001-00001102-00000004-20021102}.CDF has a .BAK file. (Backup)
  6. I hope you/we can figure it out- I'd like to try this on a UACD, but I get the impression that the settings are based on a per-user basis (see .CDF and .SDF file entries under File Attributes in my log file): C:\Documents and Settings\Nunya\Application Data\Creative\Calibrator\SPKR0000.SDF and C:\WINNT\{00000002-00000000-00000001-00001102-00000004-20021102}.CDF Maybe copying these to your UACD locations? I'll keep trying here also. Good luck....
  7. OK- using RegShot, I took a "shot", then made a change in my settings (from Headphones to 5.1 spkr) then took 2nd shot. (I have an Audigy2ZS w/5.1) Here is my compare log: Values modified:14 ---------------------------------- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Cryptography\RNG\Seed: FD 2F 70 76 06 39 B2 03 61 2E 5B HTH....? (good grief, so many entries w/Creative hardware- no wonder they have so many issues!)
  8. LMAO- I found both of my HP PSC 750 discs this morning....
  9. yes, I've already downloaded that- it's drivers only. I needed the software on the disk- I was able to use the 365M FULL download link you provided, and during install skipped the driver installation. After that, I installed the latest driver. I also burned a CD with the above (extracted) files, the extracted driver files, and any/all updates and fixes from HP's site. All working, thanks!
  10. been looking everywhere for this, but need it for the PSC 750 (700 series)... a huge list to look through! my disc is somewhere around here (I just moved), and I got the drivers from HP, but not the software- scanner giving an error. Any ideas? Oh, and TY!
  11. try: UnattendMode = FullUnattended as for the regional- try it under [GuiUnattended] only
  12. pdf file missing some parts (dl'd coupla times in case of bad file/whatnot) Slipstream clean/gold source to SP1a If you would prefer to slipstream SP2 then continue to the next section of this guide. This portion covers SP1a Create your directory structure (I create folders in working as preference) C:\working\xp_source C:\working\xp_sp1a C:\working\xp_cd xp_source contains a copy of the contents from your Windows XP Professional clean/gold source. xp_sp1a contains the Service Pack 1a Network Install executable. (xpsp1a_en_x86.exe) xp_cd contains a copy of the xp_source directory. 1) Copy Contents of Windows CD to C:\working\xp_source (This will be your archive and you will move a copy to C:\working\xp_cd for modifying) The following files/folders are default for Windows XP (No Service Pack) Nice guide!
