What's the URL of the "thank you" page? Can you access it from the direct link? http://update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdat...t.aspx?ln=en-us Title edited - Please read the new rules at the top of the forum

That would be a firewall... Look at Sygate for example. If you want details on what and when, just look at the logs.

All those files? You should just be downloading one .ISO file. That's the image file that you then want to burn to CD.

Windows XP Forum Posting Rules 1) The most important rule Search to see if your topic already exists. Commonly answered questions will be closed. 2) If you are getting an error, check the Windows 2000/XP Troubleshooting Guide If you follow this guide, you may solve your own problem without needing to ask anything. If following the guide doesn't solve your problem, write what you have tried to do to solve the problem. Zxian’s Windows 2000/XP Troubleshooting Guide 3) Malware problems? Got a virus, spyware, or adware? MSFN has a forum just for you. Check here for more information: Malware Prevention 4) Regarding nLite If you have used nLite to remove components from your Windows installation, check in the nLite forums for answers to your problems. Errors caused by nLite are beyond the scope of this forum. nLite Forums 6) Provide enough information Simply saying "I'm getting an error. Plz help!!!" isn't going to do anyone any good. We don't know what your problem or question is, and as a result, you don't get the help that you could. If you are getting a Windows error message, program error message, or any other type of error message, you MUST provide the complete error message along with any error codes that may appear. 7) Please post legibly. Please try to use proper sentences, and if there are several points in your topic, break it up into paragraphs. It makes it much easier to read and understand, and as a result you'll probably get a better answer sooner. 8) Follow the MSFN Rules So there's no confusion as to where to find them, here's the link. ***** MSFN Forum Rules ***** Following these rules makes it easier for everyone on the forums. You get your answer quicker, and others who are helping you have an easier time understanding you. Your friendly SMod -Zxian Thanks to Bâshrat the Sneaky for the rules outline.

Knoppix is probably easier. 1) Download the CD (http://www.knoppix.org/ - Click on the US/British Flag for English) 2) Burn the ISO file using a program like Nero (burn image, not data) 3) Restart. Set your computer to boot from CD in BIOS. At startup, you might see something like "Press F2 to enter Setup". Press that key. If not, check your computer's manual. 4) Press enter at the first screen. Let Knoppix load. (get a cup of coffee...) 5) Plug in your USB hard drive. It should show on the desktop after a few moments. Double-click on it to mount it. Right-click on the desktop and select Actions->Change Read/Write mode. Click Yes when prompted for confirmation. 6) Create a new folder called ZelenVR's Backup on the USB drive. 7) On the desktop, your hard drive should appear as Hard Disk Partition. Click on it to mount and open it. 8) Select everything except System Volume Information and any .sys files that are in the drive and then right-click and Copy. Paste into the ZelenVR Backup folder that you created earlier. 9) Drink your coffee... come back a while later. 10) Right-click on the desktop and select Log out Knoppix. Select Turn Off Computer. That should be it. You should have all the data on the USB drive now. You'll want to double check that you can access everything on another computer before going ahead and formatting your hard drive, just to be sure.

In the command line, simply type path. You'll get something like what MHz wrote up there. It seems like your paths are broken, since the files are there. If the path command doesn't show that, then open system properties (Right-click My Computer->Properties) and go to Advanced->Environment Variables. If you scroll down in the System variables box, you'll see the variable path. Double click on it and then paste what MHz has into the Variable Value box. You'll probably need to restart your computer.

Bah... those prefetcher "tweaks" all over again... *shakes head* Most of these "tweaks" are old or can be found elsewhere.

Not to be a troll, but this feature has been in Opera for a while now. (I know it's been in 8, not sure about 7)Don't get me wrong. I think that it's a good thing that everyone is picking up on useful features from the others, and hopefully the security conference where everyone is coming together to discuss web browser security will produce something beneficial for everyone. It's a big update by the looks of things. Can't stop progress.

Pets are the ones who we often overlook as being others closest companions. I've had my cat for about 13 years now, and I can't imagine the day that he won't be there. Remember all the good things that came out of your friendship, and lever let that memory fade.

Why would you cry? That would mean that your vision gets blurry... can't properly see... etc etc So true... you gain so many brownie points... especially if you win the fight. LMAO... I've lived through that one before...Nice finds... good work!

You don't need to start Windows to access your files. Download a copy of Knoppix, or build a BartPE disk and boot from one of them. If you have access to an external USB hard drive, you can transfer files to it (plug it in before booting), or with the help of some plugins in BartPE, you can burn the data directly to a CD (if you have a second drive). I'm not sure if Knoppix has CD burning support.

For testing, you can just run a VM and install/uninstall XPize with the various switches to see which one gives you the result you want. It'll save you a lot of time rather than building a new image each time and burning it to disk as well.

Well... a really simple and cheap backup solution is 7-zip + DVD Burner. The former is free, while the latter can usually be found for about $40 USD. Simply take all the files that you want to backup and compress them. Save the file with a date stamp included (i.e. 2005-11-29_My_Pictures.7z) and then burn it to a DVD (along with all the other files that you want. If the archive is too large to fit onto a single DVD, then split it at 4GB (the maximum file size for DVDs). Like Bâshrat the Sneaky said, some files won't compress much (already compressed files - music, video, pictures), but others will.

Like Jeremy, here in Opera, it opened a window called CT... and then Trend Micro went nuts. In IE, the page wouldn't even load, since Trend Micro caught something nasty. (a .jar file - understandable that it's Javascript) The page loads in Firefox, and when I go to run it... a second Window appears and then Firefox freezes.

It sounds as though you've got a bad drive. I'd see if you can back up all the data that is on there and then try re-formatting the drive. If that doesn't solve problems (or new file access problems arise), you may have a hard drive that's on its way out.

How are you "integrating" .NET 2.0? AFAIK, the only way to get it to install during setup is through RunOnceEx.
-
The switches are perfectly described in the main thread. Silent switch: /S (this switch is case sensitive) /noskins <---no skins installed To make it simple, run: xpize.exe /S /noskins

Have a great one buddy!!! Keep up the good work!!!

BlueNotes. Best fit for me. They're the only jeans that I've been able to find recently where the legs are longer than the waist is around (I take a 33Wx34L). They make a lot of jeans for short, fat people...

PS2 for me. I had a modded xbox360, but the **** thing died on me, and it was out of warranty from the mod chip company... Gran Turismo rules... I gotta get my hands on SCIII.... *drools*

Have you read the release thread? All the switches are listed there!

Is the Shell Hardware Detection service running? Unless it is, Windows won't be able to "detect" changes in your hardware, such as a new or removed CD.
