  1. Unattended question = Unattended Forum. Moved
  2. This has more to do with hardware/drivers than XP. Moved to Hardware hangout.
  3. You can delete those files if you wish, but when you go to uninstall or reinstall a program, Windows may ask you for the location of the install packages. I'd personally look for other places that you can clear out space, rather than that particular directory. Check out CCleaner that can help clear out your temp files and save you a lot of space.
  4. Search next time. I've got a very low tollerance for people who can't find the obvious. Thread closed
  5. I've still got this problem... The main forum page doesn't work for me and hasn't for a bit of time now. I've been browsing the forums by the Forum Jump for the past while now...
  6. It's been said time and time again. The .NET Framework will not install from svcpack.inf or from cmdlines.txt. Nobody has found a way to do it yet. The only solution thus far is to install it from RunOnceEx.
  7. Vancouver here. But born in Montreal.
  8. Hehe... DigeratiPrime. I just tested out XMPlay. Played with it for about 20 minutes or so, but was unable to get the one key Winamp plugin to work for me - Media Library. I followed through the readme file, but no luck. Without a proper self-updating media library, XMPlay just doesn't cut it for me. To each their own.
  9. Like I said - small steps. If you've got a basic UA install working, then you're halfway there. Most people just dive into everything at once. Have a careful read through the new Unattended site. It litteraly has all the information that you need to set up program installations. Regtweaks come AFTER you've got program installation working. Honestly - everything is on the unattended site. Read it very very very very (very) carefully and you'll have all the answers you need. There are several examples there.
  10. Wow... a great big huge thank you!!!! I've been playing around with XPlode for quite a while now and it's definately become my installation method of choice. If you understand the basics of a UA install, you should be able to find your way through the example XML files and the PDF documentation that's provided. It's not that hard really... I run XPlode from CMDlines, and the cmdlines.txt file I have contains the following: [COMMANDS] "..\Installs\XPlode.exe /log:C:\XPlode.log" I've got a folder called Installs in the root of my CD (not in the $OEM$ folders - cmdlines.txt is the only file there), and within the Installs folder are all the installers and XPlode files. If you then use the #XPLODE# variable, it makes things very easy. I'm so happy now... this is like a late xmas present for me. Thanks again Wraith.
  11. You can use Winamp to transfer songs to your iPod as well. the ML_iPod plugin will do this for you. I've got Winamp set as my default music player. Videos are taken care of MPC (with XP Codec Pack + QT Alt + Real Alt). I've had some problems with VLC and subtitled movies, but the DirectVobSub plugin for MPC does the trick everytime.
  12. I agree with cluberti. Try running some memory tests (Memtest86+ for example) to see if your RAM is OK. If it gives you errors, then you know where your problem lies.
  13. Do you need them - probably not. Are they a good thing to run once in a while. Probably yes. CCleaner is the only one I use.
  14. If you're a home user and you've got a copy of XP Corporate, then it's an illegal copy. If you have a legit VLK licence, you'd know to contact Microsoft for more installation media. Topic closed.
  15. @wolf7448 - I don't personally mind other users pointing out the forum rules. It saves me some work and shows that there are others who actually pay attention to them. @Greg00pl - Take small steps at a time. An unattended CD is continuously changing - even for me. I've made many, many, many CDs, and it's taken me about a year to figure it all out from scratch. Here are the basic steps that you should try - one at a time. - Get a basic UA install working. No program installation. Just Windows. - Then add program installation. Start with the basics - either command line or RunOnceEx. Choose one and stick with it. You can install almost any program you want during a UA install. You just need the right install switches. - Then add regtweaks. If you don't know what they are - search for them. There are many topics already on them. - Then worry about a multi-boot CD. This is the thing that allows you to have several versions of Windows on one CD. Like cluberti said - search. Everything that you asked about has already been answered. I can guarantee that. There's a bit of a short fuse around the community for new members who don't take the time to search for themselves. Anything involving installation of software during UA you can probably find in the Application Installs forum. No one is going to hand you a magic guide to your perfect install CD. It's a learning experience. Finally, moved to Unattended forum.
  16. You might try playing around with rules in Outlook. Once you're more familiar with them, they're pretty powerful stuff. I'm not familiar with Thunderbird, so I'm no help there. Moved to software hangout. Please try to post in the correct forum next time.
  17. As for the question - if the computers aren't going to have internet access, then anti-virus programs probably aren't necessary in the first place. You'd be better off setting up the computers as you need them, and then creating an image of the hard drive. If anything goes wrong, simply restore the image. Secondly - wrong forum. Moved to Software hangout.
  18. Moved to Software Hangout.
  19. Moved to Networks, Internet and Security.
  20. This doesn't have anything to do with XP. Moved to Malware Prevention.
  21. What kind of error message do you get when you try to upload? What type of security software are you running? A little more information on your computer would help a lot in trying to pin point where the problem lies.
  22. Moved to Unattended forum.
