QUESTION: ''Best'' Firewall for XP and/or POS Ready 2009 anno 2022 ?
AstroSkipper replied to e-t-c's topic in Windows XP
Hi @mina7601, I've checked the link and it's working for me. Check your internet connection or try another browser! Or go to homepage, download section and then Windows 10 Firewall Control XP 7.5 at the bottom of this site! Cheers, AstroSkipper -
QUESTION: ''Best'' Firewall for XP and/or POS Ready 2009 anno 2022 ?
AstroSkipper replied to e-t-c's topic in Windows XP
Hi @e-t-c, I tried al lot of firewalls in the past. The best I found is Windows 10 Firewall Control XP 7.5 from sphinx-soft.com. I use this special version for Windows XP for years and it's simply great. There is a Free and a paid Plus version. My preferred version is the Plus one. Try it! I love it! Here is a link of archived versions: https://www.sphinx-soft.com/download/W10FC7.5/ Cheers, AstroSkipper -
My Browser Builds (Part 3)
AstroSkipper replied to roytam1's topic in Browsers working on Older NT-Family OSes
Not really! There are a lot of programs using IE8 engine to connect to internet. For example some email clients, the update function of some programs and so on. Access to WU or MU is only one area of application. If the system itself has to access an url which needs TLS 1.2 protocol, you have to use one of these proxies system-widely. I thought you read my article "ProxHTTPSProxy and HTTPSProxy in Windows XP for future use". I already described it there in detail. Therefore your statement is not correct. Cheers, AstroSkipper PS: BTW I wouldn't have started a thread about these proxies and logically I wouldn't have maintained them if there hadn't been any need to preserve and prepare them for future use. And to access MU or WU two other methods exist too where there is no "need" of these proxies. These methods are described in this post: -
My Browser Builds (Part 3)
AstroSkipper replied to roytam1's topic in Browsers working on Older NT-Family OSes
Glad it works for you now! In some cases you need a proxy like ProxHTTPSProxy or HTTPSProxy in Windows XP. If you don't know what it is, have a look in my thread: Cheers, AstroSkipper -
ProxHTTPSProxy and HTTPSProxy in Windows XP for future use
AstroSkipper replied to AstroSkipper's topic in Windows XP
Just a reminder! This thread here is about our proxies ProxHTTPSProxy and HTTPSProxy. All discussions about browsers relating to these proxies are welcome! But general considerations of browsers should be done in browser related threads! Otherwise, we were totally off-topic and that wouldn't be good! Cheers, AstroSkipper- 930 replies

Ok. I added this problem to the issues of Mypal 68. Issue #78: https://github.com/Feodor2/Mypal68/issues/78. @feodor2 gave me a tip to solve the problem by setting dom.moduleScripts.enabled to false. Setting dom.moduleScripts.enabled to false leads to loading of the new interface, a file can be uploaded and the results (Checking hash) are shown. The further good news are in New Moon 28 this setting works perfectly too. The VirusTotal Uploader 2.2 is working again either. And presumably the reason why it works in the old Firefox 52.9.0esr is that there is no entry dom.moduleScripts.enabled. In any case be aware that this setting could break other sites! Anyway, I'll stay with it and report if other sites are negatively affected. Cheers, AstroSkipper

Root Certificates and Revoked Certificates for Windows XP
AstroSkipper replied to heinoganda's topic in Windows XP
Thanks for the hint! -
I have to correct my statement. The new interface of VirusTotal is shown in 360Chrome v11 but it doesn't work. You can upload a file, but results aren't shown. In all browsers I've tried I can't log in virustotal.com. The new "VirusTotal" is crap! Very strange is that Firefox 52.9.0esr is the only browser which really works on virustotal.com. New interface is shown correctly and works properly. So what's going on here? The only working tool to access VirusTotal service is Winja VirusTotal Uploader 7.1, but detailed results can only shown in a working browser like Firefox 52.9.0esr, of course. All other tools are broken on XP due to the new interface, unless your default browser is Firefox 52.9.0esr. Cheers, AstroSkipper

My Browser Builds (Part 3)
AstroSkipper replied to roytam1's topic in Browsers working on Older NT-Family OSes
Using palemoon-28.10.6a1.win32-git-20220521-d849524bd-uxp-1e871780f-xpmod.7z no problems here. This is the certificate you need: Maybe you can import it from another browser or use my for you exported certificate: https://www.mediafire.com/file/iak4kxtgsw6k5r3/openmptorg.crt/file Cheers, AstroSkipper -
The website virustotal.com works with its new interface in 360Chrome v11 (and presumably higher, not tested!). And for old browser only the minimal interface: https://www.virustotal.com/old-browsers/. Therefore a lot of extensions and access to VirusTotal api too will have been broken. Cheers, AstroSkipper
-
If using Mypal 29 or any other old browser you have to access VirusTotal from now on by this special link: https://www.virustotal.com/old-browsers/ This is a minimal interface for browsers that do not support full-fledged VirusTotal. The interface of Virustotal has apparently changed the last days as many other sites too. I hate that. Cheers, AstroSkipper

Maybe this is what you are looking for: Virus Total Scanner. It's a desktop tool which uses Virustotal as a scan engine and displays its results. Windows XP is still supported. Here is a link: https://securityxploded.com/virus-total-scanner.php Cheers, AstroSkipper
-
Virustotal is an online service, nowadays called a web app. I used this service in combination with an upload tool in the past. It is called Virustotal Uploader 2.2. Another tool is Winja 7.1. Anyway, you need a browser to display the scan results. Which browser doesn't support Virustotal anymore?

ProxHTTPSProxy and HTTPSProxy in Windows XP for future use
AstroSkipper replied to AstroSkipper's topic in Windows XP
Your 360Chrome editions are definitely great. Unfortunately v13 and higher are problematic in my system. Version v11 works very well, but some more recent sites are not working properly. The main problem is that those sites are crap. As I already mentioned I try to avoid them. The good is we have different browser and the possibility to selectively use them regarding to our needs in Windows XP. Cheers, AstroSkipper- 930 replies

ProxHTTPSProxy and HTTPSProxy in Windows XP for future use
AstroSkipper replied to AstroSkipper's topic in Windows XP
Hi @kuja killer, I can confirm that twitter.com and www.deepl.com only works using 360Chrome v13 and higher in Windows XP. All these sites are crap and cumbersome. If you need to access them, use Windows 7 and most recent browsers. I try to avoid these sites. They are badly constructed and sluggish while loading. The good thing is my computer is very old and low on hardware resources, therfore I can identify bad sites very well. Cheers, AstroSkipper- 930 replies

I can confirm that. In New Moon 28 devianart.com is working too. So you can report this site to @feodor2 in the issues: https://github.com/Feodor2/Mypal68/issues Cheers, AstroSkipper- 930 replies

ProxHTTPSProxy and HTTPSProxy in Windows XP for future use
AstroSkipper replied to AstroSkipper's topic in Windows XP
Hi @NotHereToPlayGames, I already recommended 360Chrome too. So keep cool and don't be sad! And by the way one example does not mean anything! A lot of modern sites do work in Mypal 68. But in 360Chrome too, of course! I don't use 360Chrome v13 or higher, only v11 due to my hardware limitations. The versions v13 and higher are resource hogs. So, no way for me. Try Mypal 68! It's really great and works well with modern sites which don't load in old browsers. Did you try New Moon 28 or Serpent 52? Maybe they are enough for you. But it depends on your OS and your hardware conditions too. Cheers, AstroSkipper- 930 replies

If I had one wish and it was possible, I would desire support of XUL based extensions in Mypal 68. Then we could install add-ons from both worlds. Truth be told, I miss a lot of my old beloved extensions and in many cases there is no reasonable substitute among web extensions. In the past I created some custom buttons using Javascript, but no chance to get them work in more recent Firefox versions or in Mypal 68. But as I already said it's just a wish which will probably never come true. Cheers, AstroSkipper

ProxHTTPSProxy and HTTPSProxy in Windows XP for future use
AstroSkipper replied to AstroSkipper's topic in Windows XP
Hi @kuja killer, first of all ProxHTTPSProxy and HTTPSProxy are not my programs. The creators are @heinoganda and @Thomas S., two members of MSFN who haven't been here for a long time. All information about these proxies you can find in my article "ProxHTTPSProxy and HTTPSProxy in Windows XP for future use" here: In this article a lot of your questions will be answered. You can use these proxies with any browsers, but that doesn't always make sense. Both proxies provide TLS 1.2 protocol where it is missing, for example in IE8. Read first post and you will understand! By the way my project is ProxHTTPSProxy's PopMenu 3V1 which is described in this post: The goal of this thread is to ensure that these proxies will do their job in the future. That's the reason why I maintain them. Regarding to your problems you have to use more recent browsers like Mypal 68 or one of the 360Chrome editions. You can't solve your problem using one of these proxies. But as already mentioned read my article and a lot of your questions will be answered! Cheers, AstroSkipper- 930 replies
