I have just updated my site. The update is important as I have finally managed to fix the performance issues and also added some new functionality. You would not believe it but the reason why the Updates subpage was taking so long to load in Firefox (and other Gecko based browsers) was the large number of small images, such as the ones indicating a type of update and the flag images next to the language download links. Despite the fact that the images were identical and just repeated over and over on the page, Firefox was still struggling to render them. To fix the issue I have decided to remove the flags all together and simplify the language links so that they can be easily distinguished even without those tiny flag icons. I personally think that it looks better, takes less space, and also, most importantly, performs much, much better now. For example, on my computer it took up to 15 seconds to reload the page in Firefox, and now it takes 2 seconds at most, so the difference is massive. The page also loads faster in other browsers too, but the issue was not really that visible in them anyway. Secondly, I have added toggles for different update types in each updates list. This functionality had actually been originally available when I took over the site a few years ago but I removed it later due to its poor performance and incompleteness. Now it is back and should work much better than before. I still need to add buttons to hide all "regular" updates too, but had no idea how to name it so I have just left it for the next update. As always, check the Changelog for details and please let me know if you have any comments or if there are any problems with the new functionality.

This is a very sad news . MSFN is one of the best tech forums and communities I have known and been a member of. It will be a major loss if it ceases to exist. If there is really no hope, I myself will likely move with everything to the RyanVM board so please contact me there.

I personally have not really tested mixing UURollup and BWC's kernel like that. On the one hand, UURollup originally had the BWC kernel included, but it has not been updated for a long time which means that the files are older than the ones from the newest BWC kernel releases. This may possibly cause issues. On the other hand, UURollup also installs many other unofficial / 3rd party files that are not covered by the kernel, so it does make sense to use both of them together. All in all, I am not going to tell you not to use them together, although I myself would probably not do it.

Well, you can still use the updates listed on my site to create a fully updated ISO with HFSLIP2000 for a German version of Windows 2000. Of course, you would have to download all the updates one by one yourself. When it comes to the unofficial updates though, your options are very limited. It is technically possible to forcibly install English updates over a German system, but doing so will result in a mishmash of English and German. Everything should still work fine but will not look very pretty.

I have not been actively reading BlackWingCat's threads recently so there might be some development going on on this but currently Firefox 54 does not start, even when using the latest release of his extended kernel, due to "The procedure entry point SleepConditionVariableCS cound not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll." The newest beta of SeaMonkey released in April this year however does work. SeaMonkey does not change its UI at all with updates, only the engine, so there is probably a greater chance that it will continue to work in Windows 2000. The extended kernel is still always required though. I do not think there is any browser that still officially supports Windows 2000 at the moment . You can easily test the browsers yourself by using the portable packages from PortableApps. This way you will not be messing your current profile up. It is not that bad... There are only ~400 updates to integrate . If you are using an English version of Windows 2000 then you can download my HFSLIP2000 full pack where the updates are already included. You still need to slipstream them and install the system fresh. There is no easy method to update an existing installation. If you really hesitate to reinstall then you may try to install everything from Windows Update (as long as it is still working in your OS) and then install BlackWingCat's extended core and kernel over it. The result will not be as fully updated as when using my updates lists but it may be enough for you. Be sure to create a full system backup before doing anything though, and also remember that the BlackWingCat's packages are available only in selected languages (basically ENU and JPN as far as the newest versions go). Frankly speaking, nowadays you cannot really do anything without the extended kernel because all the newest software will not run without it.

Just for information, the UURollup cannot be slipstreamed like that. HFSLIP does process it like any other update but the problem is that there are many files in it which have to be either renamed or go to specific folders and HFSLIP just puts all of them as they are into the %systemroot%\system32 folder. There are also many registry settings which have to be applied during the installation process but are not due to the HFSLIP's method of direct update integration. All in all, this will surely result in a broken / half-way integration. On the other hand, you may try to put it in HFSVCPACK_SW1 (still untested though). I would also strongly suggest not using the USP 5.1 if you follow my updates lists because everything included in the USP should be covered by the lists, and also because the USP installs buggy USB 1.1 drivers.

I have only read this post today. No problem with using the launcher, although it really is just a very simple batch script that adds one entry to the registry . There is nothing special about it, although I am indeed happy that it has proved helpful for at least a few people. Also, if you actually understand what the script does, then I would in fact suggest not only using it as it is, but even updating it to make it more useful / less buggy. Lastly, just for reference, my site is now available under http://tomasz86.com.

I have created new subpages for HFSLIP and Changelog, and I have moved the related content there. They should now be easier to find and navigate. Next I am planning to add / write guidelines for HFSLIP. I have also made several minor visual changes to the site.

Just a small update to my site today. I have fixed all Wayback Machine links. Some of them were broken because the Machine for some reason keeps saving newer snapshots of the sites despite the fact that they do not longer work. I could link to specific snapshots by date, but instead I have just used a more universal approach by utilizing the * character. The links are not direct any more, meaning that you have to choose a specific date in order to download the files, but this way guarantees more compatibility and is more future proof. Also, some time ago I started to use high contrast themes and realised that the site's layout had some issues with them. I have fixed most of them, so it should be easier to browse now if you have a high contrast theme turned on. I hope I can manage to add some newer POSReady updates next time. Please also let me know if there are any broken links that I have missed. I have also just found out that the @Mim0's website on HFSLIP and XP updates is no longer functional. For now I have just changed the URL to go through the Wayback Machine, but I am seriously thinking of adding all the HFSLIP related information to my site directly. Due to my schedule I will not have time to spend on my site on weekdays for sure, but I should be able to find at least a few hours on weekends .

Just for the record, KB835732 for Windows 2000 is obsolete. It was replaced by Update Rollup 1. Yes, of course. "My HFSLIP" is just the old good HFSLIP with a few fixes / additions for Windows 2000 . It should work no differently with all the supported systems (2000, XP, 2003).

As spending some money for the hosting was inevitable, I have decided to go for something more generic. http://tomasz86.com I have also found out that some of the Wayback Machine links are not working any more. I hope I can find some time to have a closer look at them. You can also expect some small updates in the near future.

It is not dead at least as long as I am still here . I just do not have much time to do any new work. I am definitely going to keep updating the website with new updates from XP POSReady. There may be delays though. I am still unsure what to do about the domain. The .tk one is probably lost for ever so I have been thinking about registering (or rather buying) a new one but I do not really have ideas what to go for. All the good domains with "windows2000" or similar in their names are already taken so it would either have to be something long or very different.

My site may not be working in the next few days. I have received an e-mail from Freenom who is responsible for the .tk domain. It just seems like a generic e-mail they send to everyone whose domain is not accessible at the moment (which is true as I removed the redirection). The important thing though is that they said they would re-check the domain again "in a few days" and cancel it if it is still not working. I do not have much hope as the status is still "suspended" but just in case I have added the redirection again so that everything is correct, at least on my side... Let us see what happens. If there is no further information from them I will just remove the redirection again (so that the Github address will work). My website has been offline for a few days because the domain was apparently suspended with no further explanation. My guess would be that someone did not like all the non-direct links to MS updated that I had to add in the last few months (since the original URLs were no longer working). OnePiece updated his .NET 3.x and 4.x addons so I have updated my package too! You can find the newest version in the Archive. I have also renamed the folder to "dotNETFramework" as MEGA would not recognize a folder with a dot in the beginning of its name. The QFE files are still not included yet. And just a quick reminder for those who may be confused - this combined .NET Framework installer requires the BlackWingCat's kernel (or UURollup but I would not suggest using it now) to work. The newer .NET Frameworks do not work in vanilla Windows 2000.

I have added a new version of the .NET Framework combined installer to the Windows2000\USP5\.NETFramework folder in the Download Archive. The filename is "20161211_NETFX101120303540.7z". This is the next-to-last version since the old versions of .NET Framework went EOL in January this year. The last step will be adding the QFE files for .NET 3.x.

It is included in Windows2000-KB891861-v2.reg.

It was replaced by KB961501 (first reported by acus back in 2012). The info is actually present in the old changelog that is not on the site right now. I still need to reformat it to match the new style and then re-add everything...

The log file is created in the HFSLIP folder each time you run the script. Mine looks like this: The SP4 is included in the FullPack so it should not matter. Using nLite may cause issues though, especially when used after HFSLIP. An ISO file is automatically created when using the FullPack so if possible try to use that to install the system. This way we will see if nLite is the culprit or not. WINNT.SIF is used for automated installation. I have mine set up so that the whole process is 100% automatic. This is especially handy for testing the ISO in VirtualBox. Using this file as it is will remove all existing partitions from the drive! Also, I have used this file for Windows 2000 Server and Windows XP too so not all sections / entries are relevant to 2000 Pro. Those are ignored during the setup process anyway.

As always, thanks a lot for testing and all the kind words. To tell the truth, I have not really tested slipstreaming drivers for a very long time. I have not experienced any issues with the stock ones though. I will need to have a look at your HFSLIP log file. Can you upload it here? Also, is your Windows source modified in any way? Have you used any other tools than HFSLIP to modify it? I always test my HFSLIP packages before uploading with a clean copy of Windows 2000 Professional with SP4 pre-integrated. I only add my WINNT.SIF, run the HFSLIP script and then test the ISO file in VirtualBox.

A big update today! 1. Many new updates added (mostly from XP POSReady but not only). 2. HFSLIP 2000 updated (check the changelog in the ZIP archive). 3. HFSLIP2000-FullPack also updated accordingly with the new updates and the updated HFSLIP 2000 script.
