  1. Good for people who do not do many screen shots. I do a lot of documentation with hundreds of screen prints. So a little time saved on each one really adds up.
  2. Yes, just put file on floppy. If your CD also has a winnt.sif in i386, I believe the CD version is used.
  3. I use Firezilla. It's free and has nice features.
  4. This starts install. Blue text-mode setup inspects computer and loads files. Then says starting to copy files, but does not and just hangs. Normally get the yellow progress bar, but does not appear here. The PE way suggested has a switch for copysource, but does not work with winnt.exe, only winnt32.exe? And winnt32.exe will not run in DOS mode. Is there any such switch for winnt.exe? I can't find anything. Oh, I am installing from a second hard-drive, not another partition on the same drive. Not sure if it matters.
  5. @JPamplin I tried your new method. The formatting seems to work properly, but gets caught in an endless loop and reformats each reboot, the install never gets called. Any suggestions? @Kenny McCormick I have BartPE at home and will try tonight. @All Thanks to everyone for help. I love this site!
  6. Did you run a spyware scan?
  7. YES PLEASE! This looks good. I will try it tonight as for formatting drive. How then to get install started after reboot ??
  8. I would like to install Windows from a second hard drive, not from CD. Has anyone done it? I have searched and found some info on network install, but not same. I have tried to run winnt.exe but get error that installer cannot find a valid partition to install on. Please let me know.
  9. Bush won Ohio by more than 130,000 votes. So 3,000 makes no difference. What is your point ??? Please have a valid point before you go stirring up trouble !
  10. Remember...there are 49 other states, hundreds of counties, thousands of precincts and polling locations, tens of thousands of voting machine. Seems likely that there are numerous errors in numerous places. And I am guessing that some went in Bush's favor and some went in Kerry's favor. You all are so blinded by your hatred of President Bush that you can't see things clearly. Try a little objectivity and you may be surprised at what you see. Also try not believing everything spoon-fed to you by the media. Try to think for yourselves.
  11. @Radimus I concur. A couple of threads I posted on yesterday just disappeared. When it was only Bush-bashing and anti-American comments, it was fine. But when some Americans tried to defend our country, thread is pulled. The posts were starting to get a bit "hot" so I understand why pulled. I guess msfn.org is probably not the best place for this type of stuff. One thing I really like about this site is it is people all over the world working cooperatively toward a common goal and helping each other no matter where they live. @SiMoNsAyS and others If things stay light that is ok. I really enjoyed the Florida voting machine post. We Americans have a sense of humor. We can take some harmless jokes. Some things in the past few days were not humorous. Personal attacks on our President. Several posts were about how stupid Americans are. There is no need for that type of content on this site.
  12. Could try Microsoft Virtual PC. I have used dual boot with XP Pro and RedHat Linux.
  13. Ditto. AutoIT can be that easy. It also has many advanced features which you can learn as you go. Big thumbs up to the guys who put out AutoIT...and free.
  14. I am a big Dell fan. Have 2 at home and have used dozens professionally. Very few problems, solid systems. Only called support a couple times, and issue was resolved satisfactorily. Have a few friends who would agree.
  15. Put your winnt.sif on a floppy, but do not put one on the cd in i386. It will install from floppy. I did it, it works. That way you can use a different floppy for each computer but use same cd. You can put an several different install scripts on the cd, and let your winnt.sif pick the proper one to use for each computer. Simple ! Need to set bios boot order so it does not try to boot from floppy, or you get error for not being system disk. If winnt.sif on both cd and floppy, setup uses cd first (so I am told - have not verified this) And...yes I know every computer does not have a floppy anymore. And...yes I know this is probably not the most elegant way to do this, but it is easy and reliable. Also if you have another computer to install, you may not need to burn a new cd.
  16. Not trying to be sarcastic...but have you read the help file? It is pretty good.
  17. Agreed. I see no difference in setup or bootup screens. Really no difference at all except no activation required.
  18. Use the following... @WindowsDir...C:\Windows @SystemDir...C:\Windows\System32 *EDIT* Corrected. Thanks for input. Yes - see help files as many more exist.
  19. Try putting winnt.sif on a floppy in A: drive. I read in a post that setup looks for floppy before looks in i386. I haven't tried it yet but give it a shot. Please post back with results.
  20. xplode.voidfx.com
  21. Agreed...me and a few friends all have NEC2500A and very happy
  22. Use utility called nLite to reduce XP size by removing unneeded items like other languages, drivers, Outlook Express, etc. nLite is very good. Created by user nuhi. See following post....http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=28005
  23. Are you using classic theme option in nLite? I get blue screen only when use that.
  24. AutoIT has a very easy to use one line method. Use function...FileCreateShortcut
