This may very well be my last post, so I will leave you all by saying the following: Windows LongHorn beta testing starts November 26th 2003. Windows BlackComb features a modular kernel/driver-set. Windows BlackComb contains the 3D interface, not windows longhorn, the sidebar is as far as you get with that. Windows BlackComb will feature CRM, this will aid microsoft in tracking their software more effectively. Windows LongHorn features a sidebar in XML, you will be able to modify/skin it to your liking The taskbar will be completely removed in Windows:BlackComb BlackComb is to be called Server 2005, while longhorn is WindowsMAX "Maximize your productivity TODAY, with WindowsMAX"

If you disable the 'server' service in Windows 2000 professional the only effect is that you will not be able to share files across a network, nor will remote acess be allowed.

If I understand this problem correctly, and I think I do. You may want to go to http://www.microsoft.com/ie -- obtain the latest service pack for Internet Explorer, update so that the default IE settings to setting. Go into internet explorer go to TOOLS drag to 'Internet Options' go to the "Advanced Tab" click "Restore Default Settings". Close internet explorer. Right click the IE logo on your desktop, go to "Properties" open up internet explorer properties, go to "Connections" go to "Setup" click "I want to set my internet connection manually" (third bullet-hole). Try this, tell me what you think and if it works, I'll try to dig up something else when I go to work and check out the intranet help sites for info on the problem.

If your GPO isn't working, you need to make sure the security manager service isn't disabled, and you want to make sure you have no conflicting policies. Yes, Group Policy takes prescedence over any local policies over a network, provided you are enforcing the GP

Might be a good idea for people on the boards to introduce themselves, based on the fact that there are alot more people signing up for the MSFN boards lately. Dave - 22; NewJersey/PA - Microsoft Customer Support Representative, MCSE+I/MCT/MCD

What Is 3174 Cluster Controller And Cas?
DaveH replied to Bretenn's topic in Networks and the Internet
A 3714 refers to the IEEE number I believe, in anwser to your question; they do support both emulations. What is a 3714 cluster? Well, it's group of disk sectors that the operating system assigns a unique number to each cluster and then keeps track of files according to which clusters they use. I hope this explanation was suffcient -- If you need additional help, please ask. I'm sorry for posting so late, I only read this post today. -
Because the .NET framework is backwards compatable with other archetectures, or languages, it will be relatively easy to make the ".NET switch". Yes, .NET empowerment comes in part with the family of Windows Server 2003, in LongHorn and later in BlackComb there will be total .NET empowerment in applications, is it good? yes, as mentioned -- .NET apps are compatable and scalable with other languages and frameworks. There will also be a patch out for WindowsXP/Windows2000 to empower it with the ability to interact totally with .NET software, till now; we can only interact very basically with it through the .NET framework patchs released last november on techNET

NTLDR is an acronym for "NT loader" it is a small binary or "exe" file contained inside the boot sector of an NT user's hard disk. It is single handedly responible for loading all the NT boot files such as NTOSkrnl.dll and others. Advanced users who are in a "business" situation would be able to modify their BlackComb/LongHorn servers in order to clean up and make the boot-time or Operating System slightly smaller. So I would be able to determine what "modules" I want loaded during boot/run-time.
