A coupla daze ago, I posted a song/video by the greatest punk rock band the world has ever seen, IMO, The Clash: http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/5150-what-are-you-listening-to/?p=1069434 After listening to this song over and over for 2 daze with no sleep, I was hypnotically put into a trance by the lead singer, Joe Strummer, shouting the lyrics, and, while in this trance, I made the following userbar: My footnote-kinda-observation thingy: *None* of the The Clash members can sing. That's why they are punk rockers instead of opera singers. Quotes by The Clash: "The devil, he ain't been seen for years, except every twenty minutes. He zooms between me ears." - The Clash, Midnight Log "I wasn't born so much as I fell out, nobody seems to notice me." - The Clash, Lost In The Super Market "You got drunk and fell down. I wish I could be like you." - The Clash, City Of The Dead "The judge said 5 to 10, but I said double that again." - The Clash, Clampdown "All the power's in the hands of people rich enough to buy it." - The Clash, White Riot "You have the right to free speech, as long as you're not dumb enough to actually try it." - The Clash, Know Your Rights "I have the will to survive, I cheat if I can't win." - The Clash, Hate And War "Cheers and Regards" - The most famous member of The Clash, bphlpt -
The best song The Clash -- an English punk rock band from the 70s and 80s -- ever made, "The Magnificent Seven". The lyrics are a total laugh riot, IMO.

Yes, bphlpt, it is kinda busy. To me, all that busy, energetic, flippin' action makes it a little more amusing. Here's one somewhat similar that I made on May 21,2012 for a James Brown song, the title of which is on the userbar: The dance is not quite as frenetic as in the Mickey userbar. -

Here's a userbar I made to honor the world's greatest dancer: Mickey Mouse quotes: "Arithmetic is being able to count up to twenty without taking off your shoes." "Now I wanna remind everyone of the House of Mouse Rules: No smoking. No villainous schemes. And no guests eating other guests." "Goofy, you're talkin' through the wrong end of the phone again!" "There's a spinning teacup illegally parked. License plate: R-U-Dizzy.""Sorry I'm late everybody. I had to stop by the bank. I was overdrawn." I just finished this signature userbar that I made for a friend: http://postimage.org/'> I tried to make the userbar very active, with the bouncin' text, the smackin' text, the pulsatin' letters, and the flashin' letters. The lattice-type scanlines kinda suggest, to me, the texture of snake skin. I think the vipers appreciate my efforts, because they can't seem to keep their eyes off the ViperHead disco-boogie-dance goin' on in the middle of the userbar. This is my first post in a little over a year, and I hope you like it. (The future posts I'll make every few days or so will be similar in nature to this one.) Over the last few months, when the mood would strike me, I'd make a userbar in the "Love" category. I'm posting them now, one day before Valentine's Day, thinking that one of them might (?) make a nice e-mail Valentine to send to your sweetie. If you don't have a sweetie, e-mail one to yourself, and when you receive it, act very surprised, and say "What a wonderful person I am for sending this lovely e-mail Valentine to me." Here they are, presented in the order in which I made them: #1 #2 #3 #4 #5 #6 #7 Here are some "profound" love quotes that I like: "Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage."Lao Tzu "Sometimes the heart sees what is invisible to the eye."and "Love is when the other person's happiness is more important than your own."Both quotes by H. Jackson Brown, Jr. “We accept the love we think we deserve.” Stephen Chbosky If you like this post, please visit my MSFN post at http://www.msfn.org/...beshowroomlbbl/ and please give me 5-star votes -- (the star on the right) -- on the userbars in my Showroom (at http://www.userbars.be) that you like best. Hello, all: I've been inactive for about the last year, because I know absolutely nothing about computers, and -- (because this is a computer website, and not an art website) -- for me, there really isn't enough interaction with artists. As some of you might know, I've posted quite a few graphics (banner-sized and userbar-sized), along with many userbar tutorials, on my thread in the "Graphics and Designing Art" forum, titled "custom avatars and signatures". You can get to the *last page* of the thread -- as of *today*, of course -- through this link: http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/152748-custom-avatars-and-signatures/page-21 I've been a member of a great, 100%-art website, www.userbars.be, for *exactly* 2 years, and I've been spending my time away from MSFN making and uploading many, many userbars. As of now, I have uploaded 343 userbars in a wide variety of categories. Most of them are animated GIFs, as I've shown some on my thread above. The purpose of this post is to advertise www.userbars.be and to invite everyone interested to check out my userbar Showroom at http://www.userbars.be/showroom/LBBL (My member name there is LBBL.) I'd very much appreciate your giving me "star-votes" on the userbars you like best. I've explained the voting procedure in the Appendix at the end of this post. I do plan to become active again on MSFN by doing something like this: Every few days, I'll post a few userbars in some category, along with a funny/smart quote and, maybe, a joke. Hopefully, for the enjoyment of the MSFN'ers. That's all I can contribute, because I know absolutely nothing about computers. I'll make my first post today on my "custom avatars and signatures" thread above. It concerns e-mail Valentine userbars that I've made. Thanks for your attention, larryb123456 APPENDIX: How to vote for my userbars at www.userbars.be Here's the procedure: To see just *my* userbars, go to http://www.userbars.be/showroom/LBBL To see my userbars with my most recent at the top and the first at the bottom, go to the bottom of the page. Choose "Page 1" and on the right side, click on the button and choose "sort by date (last)". They let *anyone* vote on any member's userbars, and you don't have to be a member or sign in to do it. Notice the 5 stars below each userbar. The star to the extreme left is a 1-star vote (the worst) and the star to the extreme right is a 5-star vote (the best). When someone votes on a userbar, the stars turn yellow, which indicates that the userbar has been voted on. You can only vote 1 time for each userbar. So, *star-voting* is simple: just click on the star you want to for any of my userbars you want to -- as you start with page 1 and go all the way back to the last page. If you see a userbar you really like, feel free to download it and use it in any way that you want, without restrictions. You can see all the great "quality userbars" uploaded by the other members by clicking on what category you're interested in at the "Userbar Categories" on the left side of the page. And if you're interested in a *particular* kind of userbar, just type in the keyword(s) in the "Search" box at the top right of the page. Thank you very much. I hope you enjoy looking at all the userbars at www.userbars.be larryb123456

@ Kelsenellenelvian EverDawn: I made a transparent GIF of your signature too, http://i1196.photobucket.com/albums/aa403/larryb123456/EverDawnWP-IW220pxlongtransparentGIF.gif Know that the transparent GIFs of your avatar and signature can be used on *any* of your forums, regardless of what the background page color is. So, I guess you can "file these away", if you want to, because you can never tell what the situation might be in the future. As far as the grainy-ness in the lime gradient area, I don't think the average viewer would even notice it. As bphlpt would say, Chairs and En Gardes -

@ Kelsenellenelvian EverDawn: I made a transparent GIF of your avatar for you to experiment with at wincert to see if the wincert outline follows the curvature of the corners of the transparent GIF. http://i1196.photobucket.com/albums/aa403/larryb123456/NewWPItransparentGIFlogo.gif Since GIFs can only have 256 colors at most, gradients do not render well, as can be seen in the "grainy-ness" in the lime region at the right. But your avatar at wincert has been scaled down from 100x74px, the size I made it, to 90x67px, which has introduced some blurriness in itself, so I think the grainy-ness will be not as noticeable. So, if the outline at wincert is rounded at the corners, the above logo might be perfectly fine there. This is just FYI, in case you want to experiment. I'm a little curious to see if the wincert outline follows the curvature of the corners of the above GIF. -

@ bphlpt: The rectangular outline around the avatar at wincert is the way wincert has presented it. If you look closely, you will notice that there is a space between my "product" and the wincert rectangle. I have no control over how wincert deals with it. If you want wincert to remove the rectangle, you'll have to take it up with them. On that page you linked to, the avatars of Lurker and crashfly (which have square corners) also have the space and the outline around the image. It's more noticeable with the rounded corners. As proof of the fact that wincert introduces the outline, you don't see it on the MSFN avatar do you? To me, it really isn't that objectionable. As far as the rounded corners on the avatar and the signature, they are perfect aliased. I originally made the corners anti-aliased, but when I stroked (i.e., outlined) them, a "blurriness" was introduced. @ Kelsenellenelvian EverDawn: The fact that I played a role in making a new avatar and signature that you like gives me satisfaction. @ dencorso: Thanks !!! -

In my Post # 371, I presented an animated userbar for a totally wacked out, space cadet Homer Simpson. In that userbar I vertically scrolled an animated GIF on each end of the userbar. I mentioned in that Post that I'm really not a big fan of the Simpsons, but I saw a graphic of Homer that I liked, shown on the right side of the userbar below. I put an image of the entire Simpson family on the left side of the bar, with the intent that Homer on the right side is looking at the family members in shock that he has the family responsibilities. I put the names of all the family members on the left side simply as a space filler. http://i1196.photobucket.com/albums/aa403/larryb123456/AniMSUB011sec78uniqueframes255colors350x19pxOOED182KB.gif This is a frame-by-frame animation: 78 unique frames, 0.11 sec display time per frame, 255 colors, 350x19px, 182 KB. The images are scrolled up and down at the rate of 2px per frame. The background with the moving scanlines is a 2-frame animated GIF, whose form I have used in many previous Posts. -

The userbar I'm presenting in this Post honors Albert Einstein, the German-born theoretical physicist who developed the general theory of relativity, thereby causing a revolution in Physics. For this achievement, Einstein is often regarded as the father of modern Physics and the most influential physicist of the 20th century. He is best known for his mass–energy equivalence formula, E = mc2, which has been called "the world's most famous equation". http://i1196.photobucket.com/albums/aa403/larryb123456/AniMS010sec80uniqueframes255colors350x19pxOOED203KB.gif This is a frame-by-frame animation: 80 unique frames, 0.10 sec display time per frame, 255 colors, 350x19px, 203 KB. The Einstein and atomic bomb blast JPEGs are scrolled vertically at the rates of 2px per frame and 3px per frame, respectively. Each time the entire phrase "Einstein was correct" is highlighted, the phrase stays highlighted for 4 frames (i.e., 0.40 sec) before the regular text appears again. I used this type of highlighting to be in tune with an atomic bomb going off. The background with the moving scanlines is a 2-frame animated GIF. Einstein was famous for sticking out his tongue at people. But this was very tiring work, so when he became exhausted from doing this, he had a capable assistant take over for him. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Some Albert Einstein quotes: "Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." "A person who never made a mistake never tried anything new." "Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former." "If you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough." "If the facts don't fit the theory, change the facts." --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -
