  1. Yeah, we believe that now, this is an old thread - made at the time Longhorn 4029 wasn't leaked.
  2. Mike Wilson (who gave me the material to start the Unattended XP CD Site project) used to shutdown immediately, but I caught a quick glimspe of a "Shortcuts being updated" progress bar window. I don't know what else its doing in the background so I thought it would be a safe bet to allow the desktop to fully load before rebooting.
  3. Try Safe Mode. Failing that, use Safe Mode Command Prompt and it should definitely be removable.
  4. Hate Nero 6, it's bloated, lost the wizard which is replaced by the Nero Express interface completely. And it refused to burn an AVI that was less than 702MB complaining that there was not enough space to burn it. (Capacity of a 700MB disc is 702MB) Going back to Nero 5.5.10.50 fixed it though
  5. Was one of the switches used included an "/n"? You may need to use this switch to prevent backup folders from being created.
  6. Since there's not many of us with MS Money, you need to find out what installer package it uses. You can find a full list of them at: http://www.MSFN.org/unattended/xp/applications.htm I would assume its using Windows Installer.
  7. http://www.MSFN.org/modules.php?modid=2&ac...tion=show&id=76
  8. TweakNT is only hosted for the purpose of switching a server to a workstation, we really wish the timebomb feature of TweakNT was removed though.
  9. The new MS Java Virtual Machine is listed as a security Update on Windows Update, you can either install from there, or download it from the Corporate Windows Update site. If you're trying to install XP's Java VM on Windows 2000, then it won't work.
  10. I've noticed some members at <<spam>> nabbing some of the content in threads from the Unattended XP CD Forum here, they really have nothing better to do, do they?
  11. The hotfix situation is still a mess at the moment, and we're working to resolve it, from what I've heard its looking good so far.
  12. It would be a hassle to do, since it would need to be exported from a PC that had the hotfixes installed manually. But, while we don't yet know what keys and values it scans, I will try keys with nothing in them, hopefully it will only scan the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Updates\Windows XP\SP2\KB820128 part (in bold). If it does, then it should be fairly easy to create a script that could generate a registry file by scanning the hotfix numbers from folders 1, 2 and 3 Its a theory though!
  13. Personally the built-in ICS is not worth messing with, as like you say, it always falls on its arse. If you cannot use a hardware-based NAT solution, then there are some software-based NAT applications that you can use such as Kerio WinRoute or Deerfield's WinGate. I've heard good things about Kerio's WinRoute, and the free lite version (if its still on the Kerio website) should be enough to match ICS capabilities as well as provide port forwarding and a DHCP server.
  14. Yeah, looks like I will do 3 guides on this, numbers 1 and 2 shown above, and number 3 the guirunonce batch/inf/registry way
  15. Yes, the Hotfix setup files are deleted from the svcpack folder. I'll go test this hotfix information registry import, but it results in a lot more work as it has to be taken from a PC that had the hotfixes installed manually. I don't think it matters whereabout in the Setup process you import the hotfix information into the registry. I'm going to try importing it from an idle desktop I have running in VPC
  16. I hear Final Fantasy XI is coming out for the PC
  17. Spheris and I have experimented with the svcpack method of slipstreaming the hotfixes yesterday, and we did further tests to see if we could remove the actual downloaded hotfix files from the svcpack folder, since we have the extracted files in the i386 folder, and the cat files in the svcpack folder. Not doing so would have unnecessarily bloated the CD more. Advantages: 1. A true slipstreamed Windows XP SP1 CD with Pre-SP2 hotfixes. 2. The 13min stage in Windows XP Setup is bypassed quickly in 1-2 mins rather than waiting 5-20mins. Disadvantages: 1. Hotfix information isn't put into the registry, so Windows Update will incorrectly report you will need critical updates, even though they are already installed. This could lead to a lot of confusion on what you have and what you don't have when a new critical update is released. Unless we can find a way round this, I don't really know what to put into the Guide, either with downloaded hotfix files, or without?
  18. Not for a while yet, me and Spheris are still experimenting with the hotfixes script. Most likely the weekend, if I ever get around to testing the other stuff quickly in the next 2 days.
  19. Finished Star Trek Elite Force 2 last week, I'd recommend it . Dunno what game to play next. Had a go on IGI-2 but it wasn't as good as the first one.
  20. hmm. I think I might give this a try. But then, doesn't a CDRW perform best when its on Master?
  21. I think Widnez_boy uses this translator before posting on the boards
  22. You have to register to download it, but since you're already a member, the download link is there now
  23. aha, Internet Options > Programs > Email: Select Outlook Express from the drop down box.
  24. One of the switches used makes a backup and creates uninstall information in Add/Remove. To prevent this, do not use the /n switch
