Yes, it's wise to test the pathces and hotfixes for a week or two and if you're having no problems at all, safely delete these folders.. -
There has to be a logical explanation for ur weak system permormance.. For a start, try to use task manager or sysinternals "process explorer" to see if some process is givin' you troubles..

Agreed, practise is best for learning.. I'm preparing the exam 70-292 (Managing and Maintaining a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Enviroment for an MCSA Certified on Windows 2000)... For me, a huge and tough exam...

If your goal is MCSE, then I would go for 70-270 next..
