  1. No problem _hunter glad that's all it was.
  2. Well if you wanted 1:1 quality you would not transcode. If you want to know what is considered the best quality encoder right now I believe it is x264, but it is more cpu intensive to encode and decode than lower quality formats. I recommend Handbrake.
  3. If you have read permission but not write permission in these folders, and know for a fact you have Full Control NTFS permissions then you must not have sufficient 'Share' permissions.
  4. Is this a domain or workgroup? Can you modify the file and sharing permissions on the share?
  5. It works fine but only makes a backup of the system partition, it does not have the option to backup secondary data partitions if you've created them. 3rd party software can also image an entire drive including all partitions and other filesystems.
  6. Reminds me of this http://www.collegehumor.com/video:1902102
  7. If you're getting the problem at boot its not a windows issue, rather hardware. My guesss is probably the video card or monitor. Moving to the hardware subforum...
  8. There was nothing wrong with that security update in February, the few people that had a BSoD had rootkits on their systems. http://www.msfn.org/board/kb977165-t141817-pid-908314.html/page__view__findpost__p__908314 http://www.msfn.org/news_story/microsoft_says_malware_causing_blue_screen_crashes.html If you're getting a BSoD on XP, Vista, and 7 you probably have bad hardware, as that would be a single common factor whereas having a bad configuration on all 3 operating systems is less likely. An easy way to review the dump files create by the BDoD is with NirSoft BlueScreenView (freeware) http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/blue_screen_view.html If you post a screenshot of that program window or upload the actual dump files we might be able to help you determine the cause. You may want to run a Memory Diagnostic anyway, Memtest86+ (freeware) is recommended http://www.memtest.org/
  9. I would just like to add that I have a Shuttle SP35P2 with the ICH9R in Matrix RAID, Windows 7 x64, and I use Sleep mode all the time without problems. I am using the iaStor drivers included with Win7 RTM, that is version 8.9.0.1023 I read reports that other drivers are having problems over here: http://communities.intel.com/thread/9303?tstart=0 You can check your driver version in Device Management (devmgmt.msc) within Storage controllers. If you install the Matrix Storage Manager from Intel, it will probably replace the driver version, but I think there is a command switch to install just the console without the drivers. [edit] I notice CoffeeFiend must have more potent coffee than me
  10. Haha I dont blame you I hadnt heard of these before either. I thought the photos were decent and worth posting so I took the risk
  11. Get the Bing photos as your desktop wallpaper http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/downloads/bings-best-2
  12. I noticed this Do you have a network / systems administrator? Is that pc in a domain environment? There is a similiar topic in the Software forum, maybe related. http://www.msfn.org/board/need-recover-missing-folder-files-t142851.html
  13. Did you also experience a BSoD? Please run this program and tell us the results: http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/blue_screen_view.html
  14. *topic cleaned* I am not sure what to do about the first part of your question, but I know two programs I would use to compare directories: WinMerge (free) or Araxis Merge (not free).
  15. 1. Cloning is usually making a copy of an entire disk and is sector based. Imaging is usually copying a filesystem. 2. OK 3. I think imaging can compress better as it is usually aware of the filesystem. For example Microsofts WIM format. 4. Imaging is faster since it will skip empty sectors and usually excludes temporary files. 5. ^ 6. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Security_Identifier 7. Yup, pretty much a standard thing these days. 8. Thats subjective. BTW I reccomend making a bootable WinPE disc (using WAIK), than capturing/appling WIM images with ImageX from Microsoft. Microsoft also has tools to service offline images.
  16. You have a solid concrete island, with trees growing on it? My first guess was you wake up from this silly nightmare?
  17. VirusTotal report looks ok http://www.virustotal.com/analisis/a7c09a450d74b79ee8e35726cce000d2620a89f122439f0a385d4b4a3861720a-1270583699
  18. http://www.fakesteve.net/2010/04/an-open-letter-to-the-people-of-the-world.html I'd laugh if it wasnt so sad.
  19. It is interesting that you had a "HIVE" issue which required reinstalling. Perhaps you are using some program that is screwing up the registry? I know for a fact that the Slysoft app mounts iso files fine on a clean install of Win 7 x86 and x64, and as you said you can mount the files on another computer; hence there is something wrong with your computers configuration. Maybe there is a problem loading the drivers these apps use? Open devmgmt.msc (Device Manager) expand Storage Controllers, verify that the device status is "This device is working properly."
  20. Hmm. By default Previous Versions is enabled on the C partition, and would have made backups daily, including the desktop. Open %userprofile% and right-click Desktop choose Properties, go to the Previous Versions tab, what do you see? Don't restore, but instead double-click on the folders or choose Open. Have you tried searching for the files?
  21. If you can open them, then you should be able to mount them. Sounds like a problem with the driver those programs use. I reccomend Slysoft Virtual Clone Drive (freeware). http://www.slysoft.com/en/virtual-clonedrive.html
  22. What recovery software did you use? Try Recuva (freeware). http://www.piriform.com/recuva
