  1. I have already created a XP sp2 unattended install disc which works great, but i wanted to know how i can create one of those discs with the OS image on it (like what you get when you buy a Compaq or Dell PC) If the OS gets corrupted you only need to load the image back again and its up and running, (I think this is quicker than unattended install???
  2. I dont have Retell, but could it be related to streaming audio?
  3. My Data folder which is everything except the OS drive and the separate Programs drive.
  4. i have a number of files called tbc.1 t1k0 t1k0.1 t17c trs td4 td4.1 etc etc What are they and what do they do. They all appear to be 0kb Can i delete them???
  5. Will it accept a slipstreamed disk when asking for the XPCD?
  6. Yes, you can move the swap file - in the Advanced tab on system properties, performance settings then advanced, change virtual memory. Set C: to 'no paging file' then select one of your other drives and enter a custom size or system managed swap file. Remember to press 'set' on C after removing the old and again after adding the new. I have my swap generally set to a same min / max, and on a partition of it's own that no other files go on. Will stop the page file getting fragmented also. SP. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thanks for this! You wouldnt happen to have a list or make a list of all the stuff i can move off the C drive?? I just like to keep it lean and fast!
  7. Good point to note. I guess you really only need the last few restore points.
  8. yes, that was done after the last fresh install!
  9. Yes it is, but i dont know if i can move this to another drive (partition)
  10. Hi Seapagan, The internet cache is cleaned out regularly. Profiles and my documents are stored on the separate 'data' partition. Can i move the swap file?
  11. Hi, i run separate partitions for my OS and applications and Data. I set aside 4Gb for XPpro sp2 but that 4Gb is full now. What programs keep writing to that OS partition. I install all applications on a separate partition. I know updates go to the OS drive andNAV 2005 updates but what else??? I want to keep it as minimal as possible. Thanks
  12. ok, i see now, It does stream off the net, but i dont know why it stoppeed working since loading WMP10? I have no problems using Winamp!
  13. I used to have no problems using WMP9 to play the .m3u file format from http://www.smoothjazz.com/index.php. now it doesnt and i continually get the error : ________________________________________________________________ C00D11B3: Encountered a network error Windows Media Player cannot play the file because the Player encountered a network error. You might encounter this error message for one of the following reasons: The server is not available (for example, the server is busy or not online). Try again later. You are not connected to the local area network (LAN) or to the Internet. Connect to the network or Internet, and then try again. The proxy server settings for the Player are not configured properly. Verify that your proxy settings are correct, and then try again. To verify your proxy server settings On the Tools menu, click Options, click the Network tab, and then verify your settings in the Streaming proxy settings area. Notes If you do not know what your proxy server settings should be, on the Network tab, select a protocol, click Configure, and then select Autodetect proxy settings or Use proxy settings of the Web browser (available for HTTP protocol only). If you are connected to the Internet through a dial-up connection, you might not be able to choose the proxy server. For more information, consult your Internet service provider (ISP) or network administrator. Error Code 39?

    Hi, I have an old Acer Vuego 310S scsi scanner and an Acard AEC-6710d PCI scsi Controller. The scsi card uses the driver acard v1.41 and the scanner uses the Mirascan 3.42s driver which is compatible with XP. When i open photoshop 8 to loads the Twain driver but it says it cant find the scanner. I think it has to do with the SCSI card as i get this error message: _ _ _ __ _ _ _ _ __ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ __ _ _ _ _ _ _ Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code39) You need to restart your computer before the changes you made to this device will take effect. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Any tips?
  16. I picked up a used SCSI card today and am looking for the drivers for it! Or figure out how to use the drivers i found for it! The SCSI card is an Acard AEC 6710 d30 version 3.0. Problem is that i found 2 potential files but neither install properly to use the card. The files i found was v1411.zip and aec671X_ver235_disk1.zip but neither of them seem to help. Any assistance is appreciated! Cheers
  17. thanks, its quite odd that they dont include it in the programs even though the Disk cleanup is there!
  18. i know this should be easy, but for some reason i can see it as an application!
  19. How about if i install the another copy of the OS onto a different Drive then change the drive that i want to be C drive and then install the OS onto that one? OK, i tried it and it didnt let medo it cause the Cdrive which holds my data also holds the boot.ini file so i cant change it. Thus i cant free up that letter C. Bugger.
  20. is there a legitimate fix for this? I couldnt find anything on the MS site.
  21. Have you tried this? Or anyone else? I have had to perform a 2005 rebuilt of my OS drive but i was hoping to get it back to C drive, but no luck. The unattended slipstreamed XPpro sp2 disc i have doesnt always give me the option of which partition i can place it in, and still it does not set it back to C drive. Please help.
  22. It let me do a fresh install (contrary to what MS tell you) but it requires online activation within 30days. They havent activated it yet.
  23. i will try the steps out later today but it particularly shows on my laptop after initially using the Wifi card then the network card.
  24. I am using my slipstreamed XPpro sp2 disc that has all the excess bulk stripped away. ( this unattended install disc has worked on all my previous installs, and some on very similar rigs too) Here an update. I formated the HDD in my PC, then put it back into the Packard Bell. XPpro started to install then the monitor went blank although i would see HDD activity. I left it for 20minutes and the screen didnt come back on at all. I soft powered off, and powered back on again. This time the install started again then cycled upto 100% then gave me an error saying it cannot find the HDD in the system. Its getting very weird!
