  1. IIF, It's something added to add/remove programs... [sysoc.inf excerpt] netfx=netfxocm.dll,UrtOcmProc,netfxocm.inf,hide,7
  2. The bits part of the url should have something to do with it... since it stands for: Background Intelligent Transfer Service, a new Windows Update related service.
  3. Sorry, there's no S. I fixed the link above. There's also links on that page for CD booting.
  4. I'll code in some more error checking routines tonight and possibly add some debug output to help figure out where the problem lies. Maybe there's an invalid bitmap in the file.
  5. When you format their harddrive, you should format using the /S switch to install system files. What you COULD also do is install their harddrive in your machine then boot your machine with a bootable win98 boot disk, then format /s their harddrive. Then boot your computer and copy the WIN98 folder directly to their harddrive in the C:\WINDOWS\CABS folder that you would create on THEIR harddrive. Then just throw their harddrive back into their computer and it'll boot into DOS. Then just CD \WINDOWS\CABS and run SETUP.
  6. Copy the WIN98 folder from the windows 98 cd to your hard-drive, then just plugin your hard-drive like you did before, make the following folders on their C: drive: MD C:\WINDOWS MD C:\WINDOWS\CABS then copy the windows 98 CD to the harddrive: COPY D:\WIN98\*.* C:\WINDOWS\CABS then start setup from the harddrive: C: CD \WINDOWS\CABS SETUP Once windows is installed, they'll never be asked for the CD ever again since the CABS will remain on the harddrive in a non-annoying location. I'd suggest that after the computer is up and running that you go and download this 3rd party windows 98 se service pack, it's very very good and it's a must-have for running 98 in this day and age: Windows 98 SE Service Pack
  7. All input is always appreciated. I'll be adding in-program resource editing in the future and further support for more DLLs. I wasn't aware that there was a problem with editing the SP2 kernel though?
  8. You can use my new utility XPreview posted in this thread to preview your winntbbu.dll without having to mess around with vmware and winnt32.exe, etc... Enjoy!
  9. New utility! XPreview is going to be loads of fun for all of you. Sure it's a bit limited right now, but this was whipped up with about 12 hours of straight to the grinder coding spread over two days. Feedback is ever so important so please throw some my way. Don't forget, this is an alpha build still... so it's bound to have some issues.
  10. Sure you can, you just need to add wuweb.dll and register it.
  11. Isn't that the point of making utilities? To save time?
  12. I have a new utility in the works and I have a feeling you're all going to love it. I'm keeping it a secret right now, but I should be done soon. At least a beta copy for you guys to play with. I'll just say it involves one of the most active topics on this board. UI customizations.
  13. Just a tad over 77 hours. I drove from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada to Montreal, Quebec, Canada in a one-shot non-stop (except for the necessary relief moments and to pick up some food) without sleeping trip. Near the end, I kept accelerating because I swore the road was going downhill even though I was on complete flat!
  14. *sings "Coffee coffee man... I want to be... the coffee man... coffee coffee man..." * *Caffeine breakdance*
  15. I just finished the NEW version of Compression Bin. In this version, when the application is first run it adds a Right-Click context-menu item aptly named "Send to Compression Bin" to all files. To remove this file association, simply right-click the main window and uncheck the file association setting. The file association allows you to right-click-send as many files as you want at the same time. As usual, if you have suggestions or bugs, please let me know.
  16. It's a good thing to have installed because more and more programs are going to be coming out with .Net required. Eventually, almost all windows programs will require the .net framework and it's going to be part of the next version of windows.
  17. Here are some good tutorials to get you started on C#... http://www.softsteel.co.uk/tutorials/cSharp/cIndex.html http://www.csharp-station.com/Tutorial.aspx http://www.csharphelp.com/archives2/archive402.html http://csharpcomputing.com/Tutorials/TOC.htm http://www.ssw.uni-linz.ac.at/Teaching/Lec...Sharp/Tutorial/
  18. Perhaps you don't have the framework installed properly on your XP box?
  19. Yes, Indeed. IMHO, it's the best language.
  20. You could make a shortcut creator utility? (useful for people who put applications in $Progs and need their shortcuts in $Docs) I need a bit more information to understand what exactly you're talking about?
  21. This was the image I made for Worth1000 http://www.worth1000.com/view.asp?image=27125
  22. You can drag any quantity of files including your entire I386 folder if you wish.
  23. I was starting to think you didn't like me. You keep closing my topics.
