Install Chinese and English unattended?
Oleg_II replied to Sgt_Strider's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Try to find it with Google using "InputLocale", it will give you links to MS site with all IDs. There is English_Canadian there but a few combinations, I don't know wich you should use. Input Locales Regards, Oleg 2 -
Ups! Was trying to remake my "shortcuts.inf" and found a problem with specifying icons for my shortcuts: setup.ini, group8,, """Internet Radio Chanson"","""""%11%\mplayer.exe http://horus.mtu.ru:8800/""""",%11%\shell32.dll,-177,,,""%11%"",""mplayer.exe http://horus.mtu.ru:8800""" There is an icon I choose from shell32.dll. How I can do it in a new way with the ProfileItems Directive? Regards, Oleg 2
-
Thank you! I'll try it during unettended in a few days. And however, is it possible to define mail folders location with inf-file? Regards, Oleg 2

2Yzöwl Sorry, I can't find the DirID for Default User\Start Menu\Programs. Is there a place I can read about it? Or will it be in the Default User directory if I use %AllUsersProfile% during unattended? I'd like to have this shortcut in my newly created User Profile after unattended installation. Regards, Oleg 2
-
Why not? The thread has a general subject and it would be interesting and even useful for beginners (not only) to have one thread for all inf-related questions. Thanks anyway for the help, I thought WorkingDir means my Appz directory Regards, Oleg 2

Two more question about inf: 1. I've got this lines to add users from Gosh's inf: Is it possible to make the password for this account unlimited? I add this line in inf file but it seems not to have any use 2. Is it possible to use inf-file to make definitions for this regestry values: I'd like to change my mail folders destination with inf-file but there are such values in registry and they differ from one installiaton to another (in fact I'm using the script for this but wold like to change for inf-file). Regards, Oleg 2
-
2Yzöwl Ok, now I have a question. I'm not very used with inf structure, could you please let me know how I should specify this Destination Directory in the example below? This example doesn't work for me Regards, Oleg 2
-
Well, I do it in other way: The only issue with this - I can get Info Tip, just don't know where to specify it. There are also some codes you can use to replace "Default User" with them. Regards, Oleg 2

Install Chinese and English unattended?
Oleg_II replied to Sgt_Strider's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
The part from my winnt.sif for an example: InputLocale means I can write in tree langages: English, Russian and Chinese Simplified. There are 4 languages in system: english US (default), Russian, Chinese simplified and Chinese traditional (the last one just in case SystemLocale and UserLocale are set for Russian (dates, numbers, language in installed programs). You have to find out the codes for Canadian English and replace Russian with it. Regards, Oleg 2 -
Dear friends, I'd like to include IE6 in my W2k unattended installation but I don't know if it is possible to slipstream IE into the sourse first and then reduce it with method of Gosh. Will it work after reducing the sourse? Gosh's method works great for me and I'd like to stay with it. If nobody tried this I'll definitely do but not sure when I have time for this. Best regards, Oleg 2

Winnt.sif Full [components] List!?
Oleg_II replied to dazkrlauwste's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Well, I found one item for Chinese version that is not listed: Codeconv=off. Without this Program Files were created even if I specify ProgramFilesDir="C:\Appz". Regards, Oleg 2 -
Adding ramdrive to Win2K/unattend install
Oleg_II replied to Bilou_Gateux's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Bilou_Gateux Great! Thank you! I used the method of Gosh before but I'd like to have the Control Panel for the ram-disk. Best regards, Oleg 2 -
MCT, Yzöwl Thank you very much! This worked for me: ./cdimage.inf. And I don't need to place all files in the same folder. The files are extracted from archive during the unattended thogether with other files I need to place on C: in different folders. And I have only this in cdimage.inf: [Version] Signature=$CHICAGO$ [DefaultInstall] AddReg=Reg.Settings [Reg.Settings] HKCR,Folder\shell\MakeISO\command,,,"%11%\makeiso.cmd ""%1""" As far as I understand this only writes the needed key in the regestry. Best regards, Oleg 2
-
Thank you! Can't it be run from OEM folder on CD (from the same folder where cmdlines.txt is)?
-
Need your help: I can't install cdimage.inf unattended. The file is in OEM folder with other cmd and reg files, there is a "rundll32.exe setupapi.dll,InstallHinfSection DefaultInstall 132 cdimage.inf" in cmdlines.txt but it is not installed during the unattended. The inf is working if installed manually. I suspect the line in cmdlines.txt is not correct but I'm not familiar with inf-files (and computing is just my hobby in general). Could anyone help me with correcting the code? Regards, Oleg 2
-
Unfortuntly it didn't work for me. I changed the association to WinImage, ran the reg-file (it appeared in regestry), then I reboot the computer - no new items in right click menu Maybe it is because I already have a few items there like "View with mplayer", "Open with notepad". Try it when reinstall the system at the weekend. But a dll would be useful Best regards, Oleg 2

VAD Yes, thank you for the advice, looking exectly for this option. But again - iso-files associated with WinRar in my case and I don't want to change it. Nothing apeared in right click after applying your reg-file. that's the problem - I can't get the shell command for iso-files except WinRar options. Regards, Oleg 2
-
Yzöwl Thank you for this! But the script suppose that I make an iso-file and then burn it. And if I already have an iso-file from somewhere and want just to burn it? By the way, cdburn can erase the media and it would be useful to start it with the choice to write an image on cd or to erase a cd. Cdburn and dvdburn are independant and very small, they can be added directly to system32 (in fact I have Windows 2000 Professional and took both from Resourse Kit of Windows 2003 Server if I'm not mistaken). If we can get them working through right click - only a few KB will replace any other GUI-powered software for creating images and burning then on CDs. Best regards, Oleg II

Yzöwl, Thank you very much for the attention. But the idea was to add the shell extantion for iso-files "Write on CD" on right click (sorry, maybe I'm not too clear with my English, I'm trying to say that when I right-click on any iso-file I'd like to have an option to write this file on cdrom, the same way like WinRar have an option "Add to archive"). I have this for htm-html files but can't do it for iso-files: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 ; "open with WebCraft" on right mouse click [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\htmlfile\shell\Edit with WebCraft\command] @="c:\\appz\\webcraft\\WebCraft.exe \"%1\"" [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\htmlfile\shell\Edit with WebCraft\command] @="c:\\appz\\webcraft\\WebCraft.exe \"%1\"" And I'd like not to change the default way of opening iso-files with WinRar, just add an option for this kind of files. If it can be done we would only need 3 exe-files to handle all data (including boot data) cd/dvd-creation and cd/dvd-burning: cdimage.exe, cdburn.exe and dvdburn.exe. And of course, tho cmd-files with commands (cdburn and dvdburn can erase media, so this option could be added to the burning-batch file too). Or if someone want to use other command-line utility he could just change according the batch-file and add his utility to the system. Best regards, Oleg 2
-
There are two small utilities - cdburn.exe and dvdburn.exe for w2k3 if I'm not mistaken. Could anybody write a script to write a resulting iso-file on cdrom or dvdrom with mouse right click context menu? Unfortunately I'm not so techy and I don't know how to keep WinRar association with iso-files (I find it very convinient to look into iso-file by opening it with WinRar). Regards, Oleg 2

MtK I'm on Windows 2000 and my mail Store Folder is in D:\Docs\Safe\Mail. In imported .reg file it looks like this: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Identities\{9ACA3C4C-0A13-4ADA-B1FE-DC98B4E62BEC}\Software\Microsoft\Outlook Express\5.0] "Store Root"=hex(2):44,00,3a,00,5c,00,44,00,6f,00,63,00,73,00,5c,00,53,00,61,\ 00,66,00,65,00,5c,00,4d,00,61,00,69,00,6c,00,5c,00,00,00 You can define the Store Folder and other settings like options for Send and Read, Spelling, etc. with the .js script from that post: tweak all the settings, export the entire key and import it during unattended with the script. Regards, Oleg II
-
MtK This setting has user ID and you can't just import a .reg file because this ID will be different each installation. I asked this question in Outlook Express topic and was advised by idle.newbie how to do it with the .js script. Then I changed to use the other more universal script from idle.newbie http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showto...utlook+Explorer - you raised the topic about Outlook Rules. You can use the same script for much more then only importing rules. Regards, Oleg II
-
idle.newbie Thanx! Works perfect! Regards, Oleg II

idle.newbie Didn't work for me The error message is: Script: C:\OE_Rules.js Line: 19 Char: 1 Error: Object doesn't support this property or method Code: 800A01B6 Source: Microsoft JScript runtime error Regards, Oleg 2
