  1. umm? wrong section? try vista forum
  2. wrong section, buddy. need to post in office section. make folders and use rules.
  3. Hi, When I click on the InterActual tab in PowerDVD 7, it halts and PowerDVD crashes. Anyone have same problem and why this is occuring?
  4. just a quick question from a outside observer: i also have a sata that i'm using as IDE. i was wondering if you use it as a RAID, is it faster? Which option gives you faster speed? I tried the RAID method and I couldn't get drive to be recognized. I wasn't sure what drivers I needed so I gave up and just started using it as an IDE. Works fine but was just wondering if I can increase speed.
  5. I can see the partition when I boot from Win 95/98 boot disks and also from PC-DOS that comes with Norton Ghost 2003. I can't see it from MS-DOS 6.x versions. I'll have to try to put that partition at the beginning of the drive to see if it's seen by MS-DOS 6.x. I hope it doesn't change my Win XP drive assignment. It's assigned to drive C:\ and I want to keep it that way.
  6. Since Clone DVD couldn't read the DVD saying track may be copyrighted, I wonder if copyright works in DOS mode?? I was able to copy the files to hard drive from DOS (very slowly).
  7. OK, I've been using PowerISO for month now and it's not that great. Here's why. I slipstreamed acrobat 7.0.5 to my acrobat admin install. then i slipstreamed 7.0.7. Then I created an ISO using PowerISO. I told it not to compress it but it still did anyways. Did it twice and both twice it compressed it to 307 mb from 500+ mb. Anyway, I tried to install from it and it said it couldn't read such and such file. I had to quit the installation. I tried it twice and same problem. Then I tried to copy the files from the mounted ISO to hard drive and it said there were some errors. So then I tried Ultra ISO and it worked just fine. It installed perfectly and also I copied files from ISO to hard drive. So, the verdict: Power ISO can mount ISO and it can burn ISO's but it has some problems creating ISO's. I wouldn't trust it from this experience.
  8. alcohol only mounts iso images, afaik. ultraiso let's you manipulate iso images as well as capture boot sectors. ultraiso should work.
  9. correct me if i'm wrong but a repair install only fixes WINDOWS system files. any infected files belong to other programs will not be repaired (or documents.)
  10. not all viruses and especially spyware/malware are detected. it does suspiciously look like malware problem.
  11. OK, I think I solved my problem with a work-a-round. I used USBASPI.sys to load a FAT32 external hard drive in DOS and used ATAPI???.sys and SHUCDX.exe to load my DVD-ROM on the computer that can read the DVD. Then I copied the .vob files from DVD to hard drive that are not readable in windows. they copied successfully. I compared the size and they match perfectly. Now, I'm making a DVD out of the audio_ts and video_ts folders. Then I'll transfer it to computer with DVD recorder to burn it. Whew!
  12. Thank you Grunth0s
  13. i'm curious as to what's special about that boot cd? you can't recreate it and customize it the way you want?
  14. does it restart and then scans the drives again or it rescans without rebooting. i've noticed that when problems are found, it will rescans after a restart. otherwise it won't rescan on restart.
  15. Neanderthal, I read your original post and it doesn't mention that you were trying to undock the Quick Launch bar. Read it again. I just tried it on this PC and you can undock the Quick Launch bar on Windows XP. All I did was unlock taskbar, then positioned mouse to where you can resize it, then drag it to desktop and it was floating. Then I dock to right, then brought it back by positioning mouse over the place where it lets you resize. See screenshot
  16. Yeah, I know it sound crazy, but it's 15 megabytes. Reason I created this partition is I put my ghost executable and partition magic executable on this partition so I can use floppy to boot and run thse progs from hard drive. It's much faster. I also have some other dos programs saved there. I don't need more than 15 mb. (You may argue I can use USB but I don't want anything but documents on my USB drive.) @ ophiel: you're exactly right. It's at the end of my hard drive past the 1024 point so I won't be able to see it in DOS. It is FAT16--it's only a small partition so FAT16 is OK. I just wanna be able to see the data map of the 15 mb partition. Win XP defrag won't display it. I thougt maybe I could see it in DOS using the old MS Defrag that I had saved. Anyway, that's the end of that.
  17. can you post a screenshot?
  18. Equation editor is included but not installed by default. You will have to run install and do add remove components. then equation editor is found in tools section.
  19. Do you have publisher? I would rather use publisher 2003 which has all those features about making booklets from different paper sizes. it will paginate correctly.
  20. open the two documents. then go to window. then choose "compare side by side". this works in 2003. not sure about 2000. it's put the two documents side by side rather than on top of each other.
  21. i've seen this before somewhere. also works in 2003
  22. I have an old defrag command for MS-DOS 6.0. It's on a 15 mb partition that is FAT. When I start the MS-DOS boot disk, it can't recognize the partition. When I start the Windows 95 boot disk, the partition is recognized and assigned drive C: but can't run defrag. How do you get MS-DOS to recognize the partition like Win 95 boot disk? Maybe this is in wrong section?
  23. Start regedit. Go to HKEY_Local_Machine --> Software --> Microsoft --> Windows --> Current Version --> Uninstall. Do you see all your installed programs there? If you don't, then you won't see anything in Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs. If they are there in registry, you can cut and paste the uninstall string in your Run box to uninstall. Or you can download an alternative program that does that. Search for some free ones.
  24. What is the Xerox folder for?
  25. How are you trying to move it. I just tried it by unlocking it, then clicking on the toolbar (keeping the left mouse button pressed), then dragging to my right side. It worked. Then I brought it back. Don't click when you see the up-down arrows - that only resizes it. Click on the empty space of toolbar, then drag it where you want.
