I doubt his theme is an unsigned theme so he probably doesn't need a patched uxtheme.dll. I guessing he just applies his own wallpaper. I think his actual problem is the theme files are not copying to his windows\resources\theme folder. I'm having the same problem. I sfx'd using winrar my theme but it will not unpack. I'm guessing the *.exe doesn't work in the setup environment. So, after installation, I get the classic windows 2000 theme. @xnlc - you might want to check right after installation if your theme copies over to the windows\resources\themes folder.

Yeah, what a numbskull. I answered one of his questions in another post. I realize now I shouldn't have done that.

I had the same problem. The solution is simple, ebrahim. First, apply your visual style. Then open Display. Unde the Theme tab, it should say "Windows XP (Modified)". Click on Save As and save it as any name you want. You might want to save it in the Theme folder in Windows folder. Also, save your wallpaper there. That's all.

[Solved] Registry Values for Explorer Toolbar
spacesurfer replied to spacesurfer's topic in Customizing Windows
I've done a lot of searching and it seems the Explorer toolbar buttons is not stored in system registry. I believe the buttons are stored in the explorer.exe file. But I don't know if that's possible since changing the buttons would change the explorer.exe. If not, then that info should be store somewhere in an external file. -
Where are the registry values for the explorer toolbar stored in the registry? I'm not talking about internet explorer, but windows file explorer. I have enable the cut, copy, and paste buttons and want to store the registry values to I can easily import but can't find it in registry, even in advanced section of explorer.

renaming Start Menu options
spacesurfer replied to piXelatedEmpire's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
I'm unsure how you can rename my computer unattended. but to rename your drive, simply use the dos command label. In your case: label c: piXel, where c: is your OS drive. -
vista is loading currently. your point about winxp looking for c: is well taken. i agree that it will screw up my system. since my system is in no proper condition for use, i will have to just reinstall winxp on c: and vista on d: if that works.

Hi, all. I installed Vista beta 5384 to my first partition. I tried on second partition (when my first was Win XP) and it failed. Well, I had a ghost image so I restored it to my second partition. So, I've got vista on first and winxp on second. I do I get vista to recognize my second partition? I know you have to edit boot.ini but I'm not sure what my entry should be like. Any help appreciated. (I'm not sure why vista setup crashed and said no changes were made to your system. When I rebooted, nothing came up. I had a hard time trying to restore but I couldn't. So I decided to install Vista first on first partition and winxp on second.)

winnt.sif [components] folder not recognized
spacesurfer replied to spacesurfer's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Do I need the unattendedswitch="yes"? I didn't think I need that since installing or removing compoents is not related to an unattended install. [Homenet] are properties for you network. By setting ShowTrayIcon=yes, it shows your Local Area Network icon in tray. Found this in microsoft's help file in deploy.cab. This doesn't work either, even though I have it enabled. Although the name of my workgroup is being recognized, the rest is not being recognized. -

hi, i have in the components section of winnt.sif folder, msn explorer and msn messenger set to no so it won't install. however, it still installs. moreover, i want fax services to install but it won't. i checked for spelling and it's all correct. can't figure it out. it's not an nlite. it's an untouched CD with sp2 integrated any suggestions? (i don't thim oempreinstall=yes should be an issue in this?)

what kind of winxp version is it? if it is the corporate version, i think think it will work, since OEM and VLK version are different. i'm having same problem.

[Help] Windows Xp Pro Sp2 install on sata drive
spacesurfer replied to albie_3177's topic in Windows XP
make sure the paths within the floppy are correct. for example, on your SATA/RAID CD, if txtsetup.oem is in A:\ and viamraid.sys is in A:\WINXP, keep it that way on floppy. Otherwise, that file will not be located by setup. I believe txtsetup.oem defines where all files are located. -
[Help] Windows Xp Pro Sp2 install on sata drive
spacesurfer replied to albie_3177's topic in Windows XP
easiest way without modifying your xp installation source is to copy your sata/raid drivers onto a floppy like you have, boot to the windowx xp setup, when asked to press F6 to load third party drivers, press F6 (make sure your usb keyboard works), then it will prompt you to insert your floppy for drivers. make sure on your floppy, there is a file called txtsetup.oem. -
Components install even though set to no
spacesurfer replied to spacesurfer's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
it's close to end but it's not at the end, although i agree that order probably doesn't matter. how annoying - i don't want any traces of msn explorer or messenger. i guess only way around is to nlite and remove those components. -
Components install even though set to no
spacesurfer replied to spacesurfer's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
there's not a difference between yours and mine except the # of components. i'm not sure why, i've tried it twice and both times, msn explorer installed. Also, I disable the zonegames and although their shortcuts were not in start menu, they were still installed and I had to add/remove to remove them. msn explorer however installed it's shortcut in menu. -
In my winnt.sif file, under [components] section, I have set [components] msmsgs=off msnexplr=off pinball=off fax=on However, setup still installs messenger and msn explorer and fax services is not installed. Anyone have similar problem. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong? I thought this would be clear cut.

$OEM$ files will not copy
spacesurfer replied to fshgrind's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
in your winnt.sif file, do you have oempreinstall set to yes or no? if set to yes, then they'll copy. if set to no, it will not copy. -
I had a hard time creating an installation CD with my RAID/SATA drivers integrated (so I won't have to press F6). I had to pull information fromr sites other than MSFN's own unattended site. So, from what I learned, I decided to put a guide together. I hope this helps other created their own CD. I have referenced the two sites where I got information. New Link to Drivers Integration 9-8-06 PDF format. I hope this helps. PM me with any corrections.

BSOF After Restart on Unattended
spacesurfer replied to spacesurfer's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Thanks mordac. I'm pretty sure that that's the problem. When I get home, I'll put both files in i386 and the cab files and reference both in txtsetup.sif and see if that works. I'll let you know if that works. Yeah, about new drivers, no mention of it on their site. But the one's you linked are newer than what I have so I'll try the newer drivers. I think others who are having the same problem because of this. -
BSOF After Restart on Unattended
spacesurfer replied to spacesurfer's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
sorry, guys. i left out some information. i'm not using bashrat's drivers packs. i'm using my original drivers supplied on my mobo cd, so if they have new ones, i don't know about it. i'm not using sis chipset... i don't think i am. the device is an onboard highpoint raid driver. it's hpt372. i have searched and one person claims to have solved it by removing traces of rhpt from dosnet.inf and txtsetup.sif but no entries of such exist. let me say that this particular device has two *.sys files. one is hpt3xx.sys and the other is hptpro.sys. when i use F6, it copies both to the drivers folder. maybe i need to include both files in my i386 and references both files in txtsetup.sif file so both get copied. -
I searched but can't find solution to this one. I created my first unattended CD and it crashes after setup files copy. I see the windows logo for .5 secs before it crashes. Here are the changes I made to the CD (it's not nLite): Created $OEM$; $OEM$\$$\Fonts; $OEM$\$$\Resources and I put my themes and fonts this the respective folders. I slipstreamed my MSD drivers using the winnt.sif method. I have set OEMPreInstall=yes and OEMSkipWelcome=1. It recognized by Mass Storage Device. All the files from $OEM$ folders seem to copy OK, but after it restarts, it crashes. The error I get is: *** STOP: 0x0000007B (bunch of sequence). Before this, it says a problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. .. check for viruses, blah blah..... use chkdsk /f Any ideas?

windows xp has native support for postscript fonts. you do not need to install adobe type manager. i would recommended uninstalling the fonts and reinstalling the fonts. uninstall atm if it was an upgrade (not a clean install).

if there's no usb emulation, try enabling legacy usb for devices or something like that. it's the old full speed (usb 1.1) support.

yeah, i guess based on the folder icons and toolbar it's more like a vista transformation of windows xp. still, calibri is a vista font, no?
