  1. Come on boys (& gals too). No reply even in 24 hrs. Surely MSFN is not a pack of goody goody kids who never plays games .
  2. I've just got an inno3D GF FX 5200. Using in WinXP w/ ForceWare 66.93 on a Philips 105S. Problem is: Whenever I start some program (I've yet tried 4x4 Evo and a small demo-like named fr08v101.eXe, if you remember it was posted on the same forums), the monitor goes blank and its software displays a message like: "Attention 93K / 74Hz Frequency is out of range" I've been using this very monitor with various adapters of 2MB, 4MB, 8MB, 16MB & 32MB range and never experienced problem of this type. Also used some integrated VGA controllers. The desktop performance is very good at 1024x768, 32bpp, 75Hz. Its only the games that are hurting, and they shouldn't do so, the monitor is capable of this frequency @ this resolution. Maybe its the driver that's hurting?? BTW the NV34 chip is an A2 stepping. The VGA BIOS is 4.34.20.27.06C. Can you suggest what's causing these problems? P.S: By enabling coolbits, I've noted the chip/mem clock speed is 250/332 (a.k.a 333) both in 2D & 3D mode. The site mentions memory speed should be 400MHz. I'm new with nVidia. Should I return the card. Edit: I also tried pushing the frequency back to 60Hz. It stings my eyes, notable flickering, and similar message: "Attention 75K / 60Hz Frequency is out of range" Pushing resolution back to 800x600 caused a similar message instantly (I didn't need to run a program for it, just in windows, causing me to reboot in "Enable VGA mode. It then asked me to set the resolution automatically, hitting OK saw the same disaster and another reset.) but w/ different K & Hz values this time. Pushing back to 16bpp is causing the same phenomena on desktop. So for now, when at default setting: 1024x768, 32bpp, 75Hz the problem is only in programs and at any other setting it goes awry on the desktop. Plz. note that the system does not crash. Only monitor is the pain. I'm posting my system config, although I've not updated it after buying this new card: ___________________________ ;config.tXt ;16.11.2004 ;07:54 PST Graphic Card: Integrated Intel 82815 graphics controller Driver version: Hardware rev.: CPU: Intel CuMine 866MHz @866MHz (FSB 133) Chipset: Solano (Intel 815GMCH + ICH) Motherboard: ASUS CUSL-L rev. 1.04 (from HP Pavilion XT860 machine) Motherboard Bios: 2.02 (29th Dec 2000) PCB ver: Motherboard chipset patches: RAM: 1x Kingston 256MB KVR133X64C3/256 (@133MHz) OS: Windows 4.10.2222A & Windows XP 5.1.2600.2180 SP2 Desktop resolution and color depth: 1024x768, 32bpp DirectX version: DX9.0c, 4.09.0000.0904 in Win98, WinXP Hard Drive: Seagate Baraccuda 7200.7, ST380011A; firmware v3.06 SCSI card type: NIL Sound card and driver version: Integrated Crystal AC'97 Hardware rev.: Monitor brand: Philips 105S2 CD-ROM Drive (make/model): Asus S520/A, firmware rev. 2.0L Network card: NIL Fax MODEM: CM-5611 Driver Version: Hardware revision: IRQ settings and other devices: ------------------------
  3. Yeh I too am OK. Hey prathapml, I think Gujarat falls on a fault-line? Also, a relative of mine met me after returning from Bangkok. He told me that the hotel he was sitting in only 12 hrs ago now is a big mass of rubble. Think how God does his things. 12 hrs got him 5,000 km apart from.........sure death.
  4. Maybe the PSU is trippng due a fault in the mobo/HDD. I've seen this type of prob. Also, this type of problem is also caused by dry-solder. Unplug everything (HD, CD etc.) then try running the system (only mobo, CPU, RAM) for about 2 hours. If its OK, then, go to check HD on another system. Its a time-consuming procedure, though.
  5. Yeah, very ppl are like this. I myself phone them but they only phonr them when they have a problem in their system. However, most of the problems can't be fixed on the phone - I mean you have to see the problem - so I tell them to bring their PC to the workshop, where my dad charges for the technicians' fees LOLz. Poeple tend to be very dlever, but a businessman has his own presence of mind, heh.
  6. We had a 27 years old (National brand) TV, which had the same behaviour. I suppose we discarded it about 4 years ago. I'm not kidding, but this looks like a problem qith the CRT, its electron guns, or high-voltage transformers heating up, etc. And, CTX isn't the very durable brand, however this type of problem is usually repairable (our TV continued to be repaired for about 12 years before being trashed). Get a Viewsonic, Philips, Samsung. NECs are also good, but very expensive repair.
  7. Since the world didn't know all this uptil now, it was OK. But now ppl know his that it aint possible, nad its the science age, and science doesn't believe in miracles, so Santa Claus would go underground until times get better for him (Newton's E=mc^2 applied on his sledge, maybe). P.S: BTW Santa can't weigh 250 lb. That's his clothes man he is travelling at a very fast speed in falling snow you know. His apparent size is of all his clothing. Yet another P.S: I can't believe in Santa either. Just commented on the scientific facts.
  8. Puttie tat. Northwood or Prescott?
  9. MS Windows 98SE 4.10.2222A only if updated using Unofficial Win98SE SP1.6.2. Else WinXP 5.1.2600.2180. Undersized or oversized? (when buying something for her and you don't know the size). (Like replying to my own question - I go for undersized, and wow, she likes it).
  10. Digital cable. Uniform or no uniform (@ your school/job).
  11. visa Am I running out of questions?? Lemme see. Gottogofor something girly: I'm going explicit guys: Oral or vaginal. P.S: Is it against the rules?
  12. Nothing. Turn it off (your system, that is), get the card out, blow it, or whatever cleaning operation you might or might not like to do with it, then put it back again, and start your system.
  13. Nikon. Stilettos or flat-heels (on her, except if the one who replies is a she)
  14. There are numerous progs but why on earth do you need to do it? If your computer is not giving you any problems, e.g: hanging etc. this means you have no problem. Sorry but it seems that you don't have any worries, and you are trying to find some .
  15. (Currently) single. white or black (in cold drinks)?
  16. I have no itching etc. etc., but after all those hours, when my eyes get very tired, its harder to focus on things. Its better after sleep. However, pain in the nape muscles (that's the back of the neck) or or cramps, they go numb, I mean by this.
  17. Actually I should say both . But: tight tops. And for my question. Oh should I only ask one. Or maybe like this: 1. Toyota or honda 2. whatever-else VS whatever-else 3. _____ or ______ 4. ......... or .......... 5. <fill-in-the-blank> or <fill-in-the-blank> hehehhehehhe, its a triggering game .
  18. There's a ten day official for schools, from 21st Dec to 31st DEc, though I don't think we at the shore need it. The min. temp here is about 13 degrees C lolz. But those up north can have as much as 3 months since the roads are snowed up. But I don;t have any, currently candidate for uni(versity) I have to go to my father's computer store, so that's it. Morning 9:00 to 4:00 evening.
  19. I'm going to buy this. I'm only getting it because it shows two flavours. On one box there is a orange sticker saying '128MB (128-bit)', and on the other is '128MB (64-bit)'. I'm going for the 128-bit version, which cost PKR 550 more. (abt. US$12). I wanted to ask about inno3D's repute. Is that they include 128-bit memory when they put it? Or they mak fools of us by trickery? Also, does the passive cooling on the inno3d has some bad effects (inadequate cooling, that is, hanging/crashing due to overheating). I have two fans, one PSU, and one casing exhaust fan in my system. Some (incomplete specs I have included in this post.) ASUS should have a lesson here. They must tell us if they have 64- or 1280bit memory. Can somebody tell me which V9250 series cards have 128-bit memory. All I can see on ASUS's site is '64-/128-bit 400MHz DDR'. What crap is this? Also, should I go for the GeForce FX 5500, but I think the CPU/RAM are major bottlenecks, and even the FX 5200 would be starved for data here. ---------------------------------------------- ;config.tXt ;16.11.2004 ;07:54 PST Graphic Card: Integrated Intel 82815 graphics controller Driver version: Hardware rev.: CPU: Intel CuMine 733MHz @843MHz (FSB 153) Chipset: Solano (Intel 815GMCH + ICH) Motherboard: ASUS CUSL-L rev. 1.04 (from HP Pavilion XT860 machine) Motherboard Bios: 2.02 (29th Dec 2000) PCB ver: Motherboard chipset patches: RAM: 1x Kingston 256MB KVR133X64C3/256 (@153MHz) OS: Windows 4.10.2222A & Windows XP 5.1.2600.2180 SP2 Desktop resolution and color depth: 1024x768, 32bpp DirectX version: DX9.0c, 4.09.0000.0904 in Win98, WinXP Hard Drive: Seagate Baraccuda 7200.7, ST380011A; firmware v3.06 SCSI card type: NIL Sound card and driver version: Integrated Crystal AC'97 Hardware rev.: Monitor brand: Philips 105S2 CD-ROM Drive (make/model): Asus S520/A, firmware rev. 2.0L Network card: NIL Fax MODEM: CM-5611 Driver Version: Hardware revision: IRQ settings and other devices: ----------------------- Ahsan Zaheer Shaikh Student H.S.C.-II Adamjee Govt. 20. And I thought only I was geeky. But I spend 100km a day (oh length is a measure of time, and vice versa. If it weren't, why do we say 'light year') driiving w/o a license. And yes, that means I see the sun a lot (and although its winter, temps are 23 degrees of C, and oh, if so much continues, I'm gonna get black!!! Do I sound girlish guys??). Wish good luck to me, tomorrow, that's our Friday, I'm goona get a learner's, and then after 45 days, I'll get a permanent one (that onw would be valid for 3 yrs). Looks like some of my new year wishes/resolutions are already coming true.
  21. Oh yes, whenever I attach a WinXP HD to some other system than its own, it shows the boot screen, then quickly flashes a blue screen of death - so fast that its only a glimpse - and reboots. This never happens w/ Win98. Why is it so?
  22. Hmmmm, there seem to be quite a no. of reasons for people's nicks. BTW, is here anybody else who has such a deep reason for his nick as mine? Looks like I'm the only philospher @ MSFN.
  23. Seems the thread's getting to be quite long .
  24. 1. Get lesser sleep actually . I use to abt 8 hrs. now and my 50+ dad does only 5 hrs. So its kinda disgrace for a young person like me. 2. Try to get a driving license. 3. Eat lesser. Although only 47 kg, doesn't mean I'm underfed. I practically devour everything out of the kitchen/fridge. We have a proverb that means: Eats like a goat, skinny like a log. 4. Try to make some more money to get a 'foxy'. That's what a Volkswagen Beetle is locally called. I bet I'll go for a 1968 model. Only that'll be cheap enough. 5. Not getting as rash a I do sometimes. 6. Make time for some sort of martial arts. 7. Getting a new PC. (Oh that doesn't usually happen, just abt once in 3 years.)
  25. On every forum/chatserver, few people use their real names in their nicks/handles. The main point of this post is: What does your handle mean, and what caused you to make it your identity? As for mine 'rupert86'. Ummm well, everybody is quite intelligent to find out 1986 is my year of birth. Ah and rupert is inspired by Rupert of Hentzau, the side-villain in Anthony Hope's novel, The Prisoner of Zenda. So for the novel: It is part of our high school syllabus, since the times my father did high school . Written in 1893, this novel is old enough to retain the horse-riding, but new enough to have trains and pistols. So our hero is Rudolf Rassendyll (a care-free fellow), brother of Lord Burlesdon of the Great Britain (a count). Decides to go to the coronation of King Rudolf Elphberg of Ruritania (a small imaginery country lying in the area of today's Germany, Hungary and Czechoslovakia). Anyway he finds out that he is a perfect clone of the King, and becomes friends with him in the same dramatic manner, that usually happens in this type of plot. But when King's half-brother Black Michael kidnaps him, his bodyguard Colonel Sapt immediately places Rassendyll in the King's place. (Pity the King never attended his coronation.) Now here is the real thing: The villian can't say that the current King is an imposter. The fake King can't say that Black is a devil, who is imprisoning his half-brother, the real King. Michael depends on his 'Six' devils, the youngest/cleverest/brutalist/etc. etc. of whom is Rupert. The last one is Princess Flavia. She is sort of Queen to her nation, and whoever marries her has a chance of a very strong throne. Rassendyll tries to stay out of and keep her out of love, but they really fall in it, as should happen for the sake of the story. Near the end, Rupert offers Rassendyll that they'll kill Elphberg in the castle of Zenda, nobody will know it, and he should sieze the throne. He denied (that's a hero, ain't it). One day, after making the correct decisions, Rassendyll's party invaded the Castle of Zenda. The King was recovered. Five of 'the Six' and Black Michael was murdered. Rupert managed to escape unwounded, but he had a good fight with many-a-people before running away. Rassendyll abandoned the throne, and eventually had to abandon his ladylove (the climax), and return to his Landlord sort of brother, where he spent all of his remaining life in seclusion. Now thanks for reading this long post. Once I was sitting w/ my classfellows, and asked if you were asked to become a character of that novel, what would you choose to be? Now of course all the fool guys wanted to become Rassendyll, and all the fool girls wanted to become Flavia. I was the only one, who favoured either Col. Sapt or Rupert. But why on earth?? Now look here, in the good party: Rassendyll: Loses his love. Flavia: Loses her love. Elphberg: Misses his own coronation/remains imprisoned/etc. Sapt: He is the kingmaker my boys. It was up to him. When he found he couldn't get the real King to his coronation, he immediately planted another. When he found that the imposter wasn't needed that much, he easily disposed of him. It mean the King is nothing. He is a statue, a frontman. The one that matters is Sapt. In the bad guys: Michael: Gets murdered/doesn't get his dream (the throne). Five of 'the Six': Also get murdered. Mme. de Mauban: Black posed as her lover, but was insincere. Anyway her love got died, + she had a rape-attempt on her (not a very good thing to credit, eh). Rupert: Tried his best to devise plans and make them happen, but when failed, escaped scot-free, w/o any public denouncement, and without physical damage. Now why did I give precedence to Rupert over Sapt. Sapt was an old fellow. Rupert was young. He was a daring one, and he did, and as Rassendyll himself once said that even if one is doing bad, it should be done in a stylish way. Now this was quite detailed. I hope that you ppl don't get bored reading this all so long. I'm waiting for your stories too.
