  1. Thanks for the information. I can use it once I confirm that it is not a required folder. -- Regards, DreamSkape Signed: Tuesday, April 21, 2009, 6:22:05 PM IST
  2. Hi, Ever since I installed Windows OneCare for protecting my laptopn from virus etc, I got an extra folder named "1242f4be6b240ab4bbdb5b" in one of the logical drives. The main files for the OneCare are in the default folder ie C:\ProgramFiles. I guess it used the folder for installation purpose and should have deleted it after installation like most of the other applications do. But it did not happen. When I try to delete it, I get a message that the folder cannot be deleted as it is in use. Once I uninstalled Windiws Live OneCare and then tried to delete it but I got the same message. The folder has two sub folders namely, amd64 and i386. These folders contain some catalog files. I understand that i386 is related to Windows OS but also presume that it can be a virus or malware as it is on the logical drive. I read on the internet that such folders are created by installers and automatically go away after few days. But it has been almost two weeks and still the folder is there and no matter what method I use, I cannot delete it. Please let me know if the folder is part of OneCare or is it some kind of virus. Also, if it is a required part of OneCare and needs to be kept there? I have added the screenshot of the folder at http://cid-f673bda5b4f6cba1.skydrive.live....0screenshot.bmp The contents of the inf file are: ; MSXPSDRV.INF ; ; Microsoft system driver files for XPSDrv print drivers. ; [Version] Signature="$Windows NT$" Provider=%Microsoft% ClassGUID={4D36E979-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} Class=Printer CatalogFile=msxpsdrv.cat DriverVer=08/03/2006,6.0.5500.0 [Manufacturer] %Microsoft%=Microsoft ; ; MS XPSDrv Driver Core installs ; ; These sections are used by Printer OEMs to install MS provided XPSDrv driver components ; ; XPSDrv - Base XPSDrv Support for Pre-Windows Vista OS [XPSDRV.OEM] CopyFiles=XPSDRV [XPSDRV] MXDWDRV.DLL xpssvcs.dll ; XPSDrv with UNIDRV UI [XPSGPD.OEM] CopyFiles=@MSXPSINC.GPD ; XPSDrv with PSCRIPT5 UI [XPSPPD.OEM] CopyFiles=@MSXPSINC.PPD [DestinationDirs] DefaultDestDir=66000 ; ; Source Disks Info ; [sourceDisksNames] 1 = %Location%,, [sourceDisksNames.x86] 2 = %Location%,,,"i386" [sourceDisksNames.amd64] 2 = %Location%,,,"amd64" [sourceDisksFiles] msxpsinc.ppd = 1 msxpsinc.gpd = 1 mxdwdrv.dll = 2 xpssvcs.dll = 2 [strings] Microsoft="Microsoft" Location="XPSDrv Core Driver File Location" Please let me know if the folder is safe and needs to be kept. If it is not necessary, then how to delete it? Thanking you, -- Regards, DreamSkape Signed: Tuesday, April 21, 2009, 5:46:27 PM IST
  3. Hi, While looking for methods on cleaning keypads of laptops, I came across a forum where it said that the keypad needs to be removed and then individual keys. Then one can use distilled water to clean the keypad. I tried to implement it. I removed the keypad but while removing the keys, I happened to break two keys. This means that the above mentioned technique is not a good one. How do I clean my keypad so that I get the same feather touch typing? Thanking you, -- Regards, DreamSkape Signed: Tuesday, April 21, 2009, 2:20:24 AM IST
  4. Hi, Just installed the Flash Player 10. Hope the solution works. As I just restarted the laptop, I will check back after two-three hours. BTW, is it okay to use a laptop contantly for 10 to 12 hours daily continuosly? I mean is it safe or does it decrease the life or create any other problems?? Thanks -- Regards, DreamSkape Signed: Monday, April 20, 2009, 2:32:39 AM IST
  5. Yes I am able to move the mouse but the applications will not respond. When I try to reboot, it hangs. But surprisingly, the task manager opens though I have to wait a little. Mine is a Compaq Presario V6 with 1GB RAM, 150 GB HDD and 1.60 MHz Celeron Processor. I use IE. I tried google chrome hoping it will help but it failed to launch the Radio Stations, saying Firewall block. I am using Windows One Care on Win XP SP3. Also, I just checked, I need to get the latest Flash Player version. I will get back after installing the latest version. Thanks for the response, -- Regards, DreamSkape Signed: Monday, April 20, 2009, 2:14:31 AM IST
  6. I am sorry but I could not understand the term "BSOD". Also, does this mean that the streaming audio has nothing to do with system freezing? Thanks. -- Regards, DreamSkape Signed: Monday, April 20, 2009, 1:21:40 AM IST
  7. Hi, Most of the time, I am online working. As a music and to keep the loneliless at bay (I work alone from home, mostly all night), I keep the Internet Radio from IN.com turned on. But after two or three hours of constant streaming/working, the system almost stops responding. Is it due to the Internet Radio or is there any other problem. I have to restart the system using the Power Button. Normal Shutdowns hang often in such case. But the problem does not occur when I run music from PZ10.com. They are not streaming Radio. I have not tried any other Radio Stations. The system becomes so slow that even the FREERAM XP Pro too does not function. Can you please tell me reason for the problem? It is related to memory I guess. But when I check the CPU usage on the Task Manager (it opens somehow), the usage is around 20 to 30 per cent. I am not able to check the RAM usage as the FREERAM won't work. Please suggest something. Thanking you, -- Regards, DreamSkape Signed: Sunday, April 19, 2009, 11:52:01 PM IST
  8. Performed the system restore. I guess you were correct that the CCleaner removed some registry entry. It is working fine now. Issue resolved. Thanks a lot. -- Regards, DreamSkape Signed: Sunday, April 19, 2009, 10:27:46 PM IST
  9. Forget SATA for the time being. You said that you were able to have one of the HDD detected. Try installing a lower version of Windows such as 98 or ME. If it is sucessful, it means there is no problem with the board. The BIOS has to be updated. Check for the latest upgrade and before installing it, RESET the one you have currently. Once done, use the upgrade option to get to the Windows XP (for use w/o Sata) or to the Vista (supports SATA). One thing is for sure after going through all the posts: the BIOS needs a kick. Get it from the support center for your machine. All the Best! -- Regards, DreamSkape Signed: Saturday, April 18, 2009, 10:13:26 PM IST
  10. I am using IE8, with all my frequently visited sites added to the Favorites Menu. Things were perfect I used that CCleaner. It did remove and made my laptop fast but then this problem started. I removed it, still the problem continues. Cookie settings are as follows: First party allow; Third Party Disallow. Should I restore them to default? But I have been using them as such since I formatted my computer a long time ago.
  11. Hi, I had problems with Internet connection speed a few days ago. The technician asked me to use CCleaner to remove all the temp files so that the speed increases. His advice did work but since then I have to login each time I click on a page. This means that even the cookies are being deleted. I uninstalled the CCleaner, yet the problem is there. Normally, with one login, I could access the page for two days minimum but now for each login (even if it is after 10 minutes), it asks for ID and password. Any solutions apart from System Restore? Thanking you, -- Regards, DreamSkape Signed: Saturday, April 18, 2009, 11:48:32 AM IST
  12. Thanks a lot. I can now see the BCC. The issue is resolved. Thanks again. -- Regards, DreamSkape Signed: Saturday, April 18, 2009, 2:07:26 AM IST
  13. Thanks for the Google guidelines. I will go thru them in leisure to understand the rules properly.. However the problem with BCC is that I cannot view the field once the message is sent. I need to see to whom did I send the mail. The page you provided contains how to use BCC for sending mails, but not for viewing the BCC once the message is sent. Please help. -- Regards, DreamSkape Signed: Saturday, April 18, 2009, 12:51:15 AM IST
  14. Hi All, There is a very huge problem here. Very often I send mass mails using MS OUTLOOK. Normally, I use distribution groups in the BCC field. Later when I want to check whom I sent the mail, it only shows undisclosed reciepients that I set in the TO field. But no way can I figure out who all were included in the BCC problem. Problem is that sometimes in a hurry, I select a wrong distribution group: thats what I think as when I sent a mass mail to an organization, i recieved replies from another group. I wanted to confirm that the mail had the intended organization group in the BCC Field but could not find out. Also, please let me know how to tell Google that it is not Spamming but my newsletters. Everytime I send mass mails, I cant access my Gmail account through the Outlook. I have to log in manually using the Captcha. Only after the login, the Google let MSOUTLOOK access my Gmail account. The third confusion is that if I send mass mails using the ID on my GOdaddy account, will it be banned for spamming. I downloaded some software for mass mailing but did not use it as I was afraid that they may misuse the email IDs I enter there. Please help me out, especially regarding the first problem n second problems. Thanking you, -- Regards, DreamSkape Signed: Friday, April 17, 2009, 11:49:20 PM IST
  15. Hi, THe most common problem is the one mentioned by GrofLuigi. Though if it should be the problem, you can't get to windows is starting. Still, you may go to the BIOS, disable SATA, and try installing. You can later incorporate SATA into the systems using one of the solutions in the SATA threads in this forum. Hope this solves your problem. I would like to have a word regarding the update when you follow the above solution. All the best! -- Regards, DreamSkape Signed: Friday, April 17, 2009, 12:17:41 PM IST
  16. Yes, I know. And I asked the moderators to remove that one as there is this thread already running on the same topic. But it did not happen. Anyways, I did not get any solution to the problem. -- Regards, DreamSkape Signed: Tuesday, April 14, 2009, 10:59:16 PM IST
  17. The problem started after I gave them the sitemap. So I was just wondering if I need to include the home page URL as well in the sitemap? Because before the submission of the sitemap, it was showing main page.. I thot I will give the sitemap so that all pages are indexed... and then they started showing about us page leaving the main page. If they are not showing the index page, does it mean that it has been removed from Google index for some reasons? If so, will not Google intimate me? This is too confusing... -- Regards, DreamSkape Signed: Tuesday, April 14, 2009, 10:55:56 PM IST
  18. Hi, The symptoms you mentioned are indicating that you have Conficker on your system. It is a worm that is not easily detectable by Anti Virus. As you said that Windows update is not working nor can you install updates from the MS site, this is the primary symptom of a computer infected by Confiker C. You will have to remove it using the Microsoft Malicious Software Removal tool. Details of the worm and the download of the MMSRT are available at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/890830/ or http://www.microsoft.com/windows/enterpris...ogies/mdop.aspx In case you are not able to run the MSRT, you can try the manual method to activate Win Update and then try again. The process is mentioned at: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/962007 This should help. In case you have any more questions about the virus and its removal, you can send an email to me. -- Regards, DreamSkape Signed: Tuesday, April 14, 2009, 4:41:54 AM IST
  19. Depends on the following factors: 1. Size of the partition; 2. Percentage of used space 3. Frequency of file fragments. 4. The more free space you have, the faster will be the defrag process. 5. The type of program you are using to defrag... I use SmartDefrag (It is Free, Gives you three modes of defrag, You can set it to auto Defrag... example if your computer is idle, the program starts defragmenting until the CPU usage is high again.. fine for me) Take care that you are not using the partition that is being defragmented. Writing and reading during the defrag will increase the defrag time significantly. B) I do not know about VISTA, but if you are using Windows Live OneCare, it defrags the C drive weekly. You can change the settings though. -- Regards, DreamSkape Signed: Tuesday, April 14, 2009, 3:39:15 AM IST You'll have to set a stakeout. Wait for the computer to lie idle for several hours... GL This is same as the Auto Defrag option in Diskeeper and SmartDefrag. You better rely on one on these rather than on Vista. You may also use Windows OneCare, it will remind you about defragmenting every week or as per the settings you specify. Also defrags C drive only at the specified time. In short, if you want an anti-virus, firewall, and tune-up (including HDD defrag), Windows OneCare is the Be(a)st. -- Regards, DreamSkape Signed: Tuesday, April 14, 2009, 3:45:24 AM IST
  20. Hi, Do I need to incoporate the index.html too in the sitemap? Initially, with the Google's site command, it was showing my mail index page. Later I submitted a sitemap and ever since, the site command is showing AboutUs page instead of the main page! Thanks a lot. -- Regards, DreamSkape Signed: Monday, April 06, 2009, 10:18:39 PM IST
  21. Hi, I desgined a small website and submitted it to the Google Webmaster's Dashboard. After few days, it was showing the main page when I used the site command. Then I submitted a sitemap for the website that contained links to every other page. Now when I check out the status of my website using the site command, it shows the AboutUs page instead of the main page (Index). The same is reflected if I carry on a search on the company name. Does the sitemap need to contain a URL to the Index.html too or is it normal? I am confused. Please help me understand why it shows AboutUs page instead of home page. -- -- Regards, DreamSkape Signed: Sunday, April 05, 2009, 10:23:24 PM IST
  22. Hi, While checking the status of my new domain (http://dreams-central.com) on Google Dashboard, I found a warning that goes like this: URLs not followed When we tested a sample of URLs from your Sitemap, we found that some URLs redirect to other locations. We recommend that your Sitemap contain URLs that point to the final destination (the redirect target) instead of redirecting to another URL In fact, I had some space on 110mb that gave me the URL (http://dreamskape-content.110mb.com) for storing my web files (less than 10 pages). Then later I bought the domain dreams-central.com on "GoDaddy" and directed it to the above URL. To include this one into the Google Search, I removed the old 110mb URL and gave them the new URL while submitting the sitemap again. Please let me know what to do now. And what does the last line mean? How can I find out the exact location of my storage on 110mb. They only gave me the URL to access the location. Please let me know. Thanks a lot. -- Regards, DreamSkape Signed: Friday, March 13, 2009, 7:05:48 PM IST
  23. I just backup up some 4 GB using the Nero, onto a different partition. Backup process was fine and did not disturb my work. It also compressess the files before backing them up. I will now check the restore process as soon as I am free. Besides, I have scheduled the Nero to back my most important files to the inbuilt HDD's other partition. I am now considering what medium to use for copying that logical drive contents. RW DVDs are no good for more than 2-3 rewrites, rite? -- Regards, DreamSkape Signed: Monday, March 09, 2009, 10:43:19 PM IST
  24. I have made up my mid after all this. I too will use a local copy and cancel the online storage account though I paid them $5 for 25Gb. Even then, they are not accepting certain file types like .rar and most important .acl, that contains the list of autocorrect entires we create in word. They are pretty useless. The site was 110mb.com, from where i am hsting my site also. But it is not good for backup, or rather any online storage is not good enough for a backup. Please help me with this now: My most important data combinedly will not go over 17GB. How do I make sure that these files are backup up on a regular basis. Can I automate them using any software like Nero (it has a backup option but i did not check it out). The default backup sytem on WindowsXP is not at all trustworthy. Please give me some idea so that my lists get automatically updated at a certain time even If I forget to them. Or do I have to do it manually. And what device should I use for a backup - will a re-writable DVD be stable over regular re-writes or do I need to purchase any kind of external HDD for my laptop. Thanks a ton. I am sick of all these online backups. I have been trying to get them straight but eventually they proved all of the above statements to be true. Personal backups are less headache, even if I do it manually. Please give me ideas about the questions in the above paras. Thanks again. -- Regards, DreamSkape Signed: Monday, March 09, 2009, 5:58:59 PM IST
  25. Hi, Thanks for the detailed explanation. I thought I was having problems with the FTP client. Anyways, I will use DVDs too. Thanks again. -- Regards, DreamSkape Signed: Monday, March 09, 2009, 2:12:00 AM IST
