ok this problem been making me crazy for more than 3 month now, i have laggs. in all applications and some games. no matter if im browsing websites, going through folders or playing games. audio stuttering, video games dropping fps constantly and explorer.exe freezing for a second or 2 often. tried re-installing windows several times. both 7 x64 and 8 RP x64 tried several versions of the drivers tried to see which driver might be causing this using performance monitor and saw tcpip.sys cause some spikes which i resolved by uninstalling wireless driver tried disbaling powermizer through registry to see if the nvidia card us causing this but no change on fresh install didnt install any software and just drivers and checked the dpc latency after each driver installation to pinpoint the faulty driver if any same story in safe mode this is the screenshot from DPC Latency Checker: This is Latencymon: funny thing about latencymon is that i disabled virtual memory completely since i got 6gb of ram i didnt need the pagefault anyway but the result were the same O.o anyone have more idea's on what could be the cause? im going crazy here guys. all drivers are up-to-date downloaded from acer product page (5750G laptop) thanks

ok so i got an error tryin to start windows after using the second option with no drivers. something about failing to merge a file. forgot to take screenshot is this a known issue? edit: k so i did another reboot and got the error again, got a screen http://dl.dropbox.com/u/435242/wpt-error.JPG and also after that bsod now adding the path to system variables doesnt work anymore so i opened the wpt folder and typed it there

yep that fixed and as you mentioned at first post i got a BSOD gonna try the other command

when i copy paste the command to cmd it says xbootmgr is not a recognized command. i have installed all the necessary files according to the tutorial.

@Basil no MBAM is not meant to be your first and main defense line, its supposed to be a second opinion. now my opinion about your situation, dont pay for mbam pro unless you have extra cash lying around. mbam have really unique and high detection rate.its proved by many tests done by individuals and if you get pro ver along with your av thats a really good setup IMO.if not pro, stick to free ver and do a whole system scan once a week. now as for your AV (your main protection) i think the good ones are: -Free: Panda cloud AV (of course you need to have internet acces all the time), comodo IS, Avira(avira has low web threat detections and zero-day prevention mechanism) -Paid: very wide field but i suggest Bitdefender, Bullguard, Emsisoft -scans you can do weekly/monthly for peace of mind: Emsisoft Free, MBAM Free -wanna stay safe on the web?: Bitdefender trafficlight addon, Panda URL Filtering <-- both free hope it helped, be careful out there on the web

after couple of system BSOD's i noticed my shortcuts got removed from start menu and under All Programs many of the system default links are gone too. like Snipping tool,Resource monitor,sticky notes.... the files exist under windows folder. anyway i can bring back all the default shortcuts back to All Programs>Start Menu? thanks

ive been looking into that few days back after i saw many people at Wilderssecurity recommending it, but there's no free version, is there? well at least i didnt see anything about free personal version on their website.

im using a TP-Link TL-WR941ND with DD-WRT v24-sp2 firmware installed. i dont know what you mean by "network layout" :-? but since other computers on the wireless network can see the shares on this computer and this one cant do the same with other i was guessing there's something wrong with this pc. K the problem is solved, after looking at the security options in the AP i thought i look into the firewall of the target pc and after disabling it all went smoothly. thank yo.

i have a weird problem that is making me angry, whenever my computer access the network through wireless adapter i cant see or access other computers shares but when i connect with wired adapter there's no problem. the access point is the same its just a matter of type of connection. since other computers dont have any issue on either type im guessing the problem is my windows settings. i ave windows firewall disabled and my internet security is also disabled but same thing. is this common? how can i fix it? thanks

ive never been happier with any other version of the windows before and its odd to say that im actualy happy about the 7 already. well i guess sp1 will just make it better.

lately i tried to change some permissions on my flash drive and found out i have no more control over it. i can format it to any file system i want but when i try to change any permissions on NTFS format i get an error that the access is denied. click on continue 2 times and it goes away and the permission table seem to change after the errors. i noticed this problem when i tried to install a software called "USB flash security ver 3.2.1" downloaded from Softpedia.com. how can i fix this?

thanks alot for the info's Jaclaz, since i returned the hard ill tell my friend to give this a try. after this incident i bought a Silicon Power 2.5" drive for my self and i didnt know what the second usb was for since accessing the drive on 2 pc simultaneously can damage the files even if its possible. thank you

thank you jaclaz, it was a 2.5" external drive which had no external power supply, just a usb input. i dunno how you can check the spin but i guess unhooking the case and try a direct connect would be the way to go for it.

sorry for the late reply, i have subscribed to the topic but somehow i never got any email, anyway. returned the hard but the problem was nothing showed up after connecting to the machine. no tray icon, no drive at my computer nor anything in device manager. tried to other laptops running windows 7 and also my own macbook. also in macbook nothing showed up in Disk Utility.

once i tried to achieve the same thing but wasnt successful. all the info i gathered was that you need the script for this to put it on the server but the problem with this is that there are many people out there scanning ip's on the net for open proxies so it'll get discovered and you'll probably end up having trouble keeping it alive.for this you to search google for something like "free cgi proxy script" then there are programs/scripts which you might have seen on web that creates a simple web page where you can put your url in there and it'll fetch the target page for you which was pretty easy to install since i had no coding experience. if you think you need to keep it private you might wanna check the free CMS's on the web and see which one have an addon to act as a proxy server since they come with security isolations and permission settings.something like Joomla or wordpress. anyway i hope it helped and wish you luck.

recently i started to have problem with my VPN connection in windows 7. it started after i installed g-data antivirus, my vpn connection gets disconnected and then i cant reconnect. it says "the remote connection was not made because of the name of the remote access server did not resolve". so i cantacted g-data support services via an email and no response after a week even though i have purchase their product less than 2 weeks ago(one of my worst purchases ever). anyway, how can i fix this? i have also disabled the Network scanning part of g-data. Edit: the problem goes away if i restart the computer.

the drive is not loading after NOT safely ejected from computer. can a drive even get damaged from not safely removed first in the OS? i thought only the data may get corrupted. anyway can this be fixed because warranty is no longer valid.

well that works but i want to add the default firefox google search tab. since i use Linux Mint the search is customized and always return a customized google page. thank you

i removed the google search from firefox default list and now i cant install it. when i select get more search engines the google is not in the list.

lan users connected to internet through linksys adsl/router. one of the computers connects to vpn through internet and access some blocked softwares and websites(since our government does). only one can use the vpn at a time. so others need to connect through the vpn connected pc. since not all softwares support setting proxy (like skype mac ver). so i need the users to connect through lan via vpn to the pc. i have done just that but they cant access any website after connecting. my guess is that the routing table must be set but not sure.

i have setup an incoming connection in windows 7 x64 (vpn). users are able to connect but they dont have internet connectivity. i have tried both giving them ip's from lan network range and dynamic default ip's. none worked. some clients connect through lan network and need to access the internet through this computer. ADSL modem is connecting to ISP and only the server is allowed to connect through.

i tried it but the same error. keeps saying a program is using the device. i tried quiting the dropbox but no luck.
