I was doing some cleaning in my reg and I looked @ the "Explorer bars" section again HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Explorer Bars I had 3 entries there..... The 2nd and 3rd ones are needed.. The first one WAS A TOOLBAR FROM ALEXA THAT I GUESS IE INSTALLS WHEN YOU INSTALL IE!!! I removed the key and did a search for that key and found 1 entry,deleted it then ran regseeker.... 22 active-x keys were now invalid due to that toolbar being removed.. AND I CANT TELL YOU HOW MUCH FASTER MY FOLDERS OPEN!!! (They opened nicely before) Why do they put these toolbars on browsers??? Especially ones like IE that every folder on your computer IS USING!! I thought i removed all ALEXA stuff off here years ago!!

Im sorry my friend... Its a Grace IR-1000 radio and in my opinion its BETTER than anything else I have seen! (Its a BASIC radio... Easy to add stations,search for them,etc) I thought you could maybe logon AS THEY DO but if hacked firmware is needed,seems like it wouldnt be easy..... I just think its sad though....... OLDER GOOD STUFF being ignored and newer stuff THAT ISNT AS GOOD getting the attention... Thank you my friend

Hello dues how are ya?? Im wondering if anyone knows how I might be able to logon to the radio and give it a codec update?? (I dont have codecs for AAC+ v2 in it and I know a simple update WITH THAT CODEC would work) Grace will not send me any updates,THEY WANT ME TO SPEND ALOT OF $$$$$$$ AND GET A NEWER/DUMBED DOWN RADIO that doesnt work as well and isnt as easy to use!! ALL THATS NEEDED HERE IS A CODEC UPDATE..... Has anyone ever tried to logon to thier internet radios?? (I know it is assigned an IP when you turn it on cause I can goto the detail section and it shows its IP! (192.x.x.x) I wonder if i could try logging on to that IP?? I think its sick they try to force you to spend $$$$$ to get more........

I have been trying to clean up more things I dont use and such and have noticed The microsoft data access program (ODBC) HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ODBC I dont have Office,Excel,etc..... And I would love clearing this off..... I assume after dumping these keys and getting rid of the EXE program (odbcad32) and all the files (I have 27 files starting with ODBC) there will be a ton of invalid registry entries.... (Im glad I have REGSEEKER,does an excellent cleaning!!) EDIT: I got rid of Software/ODBC and Software/MOS (Microsoft Online Services) and there was only 2 KEYS that came up as invalid..... (The CLSID for ODBC.exe of course and one in LOCAL MACHINE (ODBC - "Obsolete Entry")

What I have been experiencing lately is: I have to keep refreshing my adapter info! (I didnt ever have to do this until a few months ago) sometimes it goes 3/4 days and I dont have to..... (i dont know what is going on) I have to open WINIPCFG and click RENEW ALL or i cant connect to some sites! (No response from the server (Didnt used to happen so they obviously have changed something with DNS servers THAT IS NOT GOOD!! -- I dont think it has anything to do with MSFN))

I just did a little cleaning of REALPLAYER (I have rp8 (Last good version of Realplayer)),got rid of VISUALIZATIONS (Which i dont ever use) and of course it uses LESS MEMORY now when running! (I didnt realise how many PLUGINS realplayer has! (I reckon I only need 1 (THE CODECS)) I remember once I tried to remove the VISUALIZATIONS for WMP but they came back when i started WMP!! (The keys were recreated) Does anyone know how to remove them??

Maybe they were only blocking certain flash versions and now arent anymore?? EDIT: I just tried it with my flash 9.0.16 OCX and still nothing... (Im stuck on HIGH and it bogs stuff down like crazy)

I have removed everything under the FIRST ONE the other day but isnt the second accessed daily?? ('CURRENT USER' means whatever account is using the computer)Maybe not I dunno....... I have always thought everytihng under CURRENT USER represented the account using the computer..... (Which are read @ least once (@ bootup)) Would be interesting running REGMON and see if that section is ever accessed..... EDIT: Im running regmon @ the moment and have excluded ALL BUT HKCU and will look @ it after a few minutes..

I would assume since this key IS EMPTY it is doing nothing.. (@ least for those of us who have it where it is totally empty) so changing its name/deleting it shouldnt cause any issues....

Yes I have a DIGITAL PRODUCT ID key there...... (I just looked and it has a value in it) But I think we now know what this key is for -- Thank you rloew!!

But how could it do ANYTHING?? (There is NOTHING in the key!!) Very strange how there seems to be NO INFO on this!! (Even here on MSFN (The BEST site for Win98 discussions ))

Thats interesting..... I did a file search just now again PUTTING IT IN CAPS and it came up in those 2 files you mentioned in your reply.... (Only in those 2 files though (I dont have the file you said is 15MB)) I dunno why nothing came up for this when i first did a text search months ago!! (These files were there then also) -- Quite strange!! One thing I noticed about windows search is: It doesnt scan all areas!! -- I just checked my TOTAL files and win search says 5132 but when i use REGSEEKER and scan all files it says I have 5142 -- Im not sure what Win search is not scanning..... (Some win directories I imagine)

I found this entry in the reg MRANENIA under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\MRANENIA (Its ALL CAPS) -- Its an empty key.... I did a text search and NO FILE HAS THIS REFERENCED IN IT...... I reckon other 98 users have this key also?? (I was gonna delete it but im not sure (I suppose because its empty it has no use??))

I still have my Version 7 OCX fie (7.0.19 to be exact) You have youtube showing you vids with flash 8 being ID'd?? (Maybe they are only blocking flash 9 for some reason) Whats the exact version # you have IDing?? (If you dont want to say i do understand)

Well in my opinion WIN98/98se is the BEST WIN OS they ever released! (It started to go downhill with the Win2000 SP4 update (Started being locked down,privacy removed,etc))

I have flash 9 (9,0,16,0) and it stopped working for me last month... Are they just denying the version I have?? (I opened a hex editor and changed the version # in my OCX file to the latest flash version but I kept getitng overflow errors then) What is the oldest flash version they will allow thier vids to be played with?? (Ill change it to that and try again)

How do you disable this?? I keep accidently hitting keys and it turns my keyboard into a mess!!! (Pressing F opens search like I pressed CTRL-F,etc) I see in my registry I have a bunch of ACCESSIBILITY options that are disabled ('On' is set to 0) --- CAN I SIMPLY DELETE ALL THESE KEYS?? (Or change "AVAILABLE" to 0?) Only 1 of them is set to 1 for ON and its "TimeOut" (Dunno what this is for really) This keeps bugging me as every now and then I activate it somehow and the only way to get it stopped is HITTING A BUNCH OF KEYS ALL TOGETHER!! (uugghh) Thanx for any help!
