Cool, thx! Sure I understand ... but what I didn't know just seconds ago is that syntax. Haven't seen it before and didn't know it exists. Thx again! -
A mega easy to get the CDROM variable set

How's that working? I just mean: it's really neat , but what kind of command is that? I've never seen it before. -
Try this: winnt32.exe /dudisable /cmdcons /unattend Maybe u also wanna add: bootcfg /Timeout 3

Midiboy really likes verbose and persistent postings. What's your profession?

Hallo Benjamin! Das ist ne echt großartige Arbeit, die Du da bisher geleistest hast; und v.a. wirklich "kunden"ortientiert und dazu noch saumäßig fix immer. Machst Du eigentlich auch noch was anderes als das hier? *hihi* Okay, English now: This is no I'd-like-to-have thread ... I just wanna thank Benjamin for his great work!!! And although he really spends much time on this task work doesn't seem to decrease. I haven't tested your tool yet cuz I'm gonna wait a little more to make a new unattended CD for my purposes but, of course, this little gadget thingy is going to be a part of it then. Hopefully it remains easy and down to earth. Ahh ... our Austrian fellow midiboy mentioned if you don't wanna give the users of your tool an opportunity to donate a little amount for it?! Don't u like this idea? I believe for some it's kinda invaluable. Well, enjoy developing it ... in whatever direction _you_ feel like it should be going! Take care, Andreas

Well, I don't see a link in your post. *hehe* Really so nasty? I think it's better to have some IF EXIST lines based on the internal capabilities of the system instead of introducing even one more, little tool; especially when one first has to edit that tool to make it work in the desired way. Btw: I use the FOR-command instead of several IF-lines. Looks pretty good, just one line, works like a charm and no extra tool needed.

You can also look here Ah, and just a hint: try "attrib -r" command (dos environment).

Well, at least for me it looks very good the way it is now. I don't really need to resize the window. But I guess the majority is eager to get more features asap. And shhht: And if you consider implementing such a resize feature, include some new command line or INI-options like window position, window size and so on from the beginning. Because I'm pretty sure this is going to be called for soon if not implemented now. And for the future: there might be users who want to develop skins for your tool.

Well, I'm confused now. Let's assume the /admin command line option is being used. Does WIHU ... A) just rename the already existing administrator account into the given name, i.e. not create a new account (and therefore no rise in system security) XOR B ) create a new account with admin priviledges, name this new account according to the provided command line option and leave the already existing admin account untouched XOR C) create a new account with admin priviledges, name this new account according to the provided command line option and disable the already existing admin account XOR D) create a new account with admin priviledges, name this new account according to the provided command line option and delete the already existing admin account XOR E) ???

Just some useful links: Using Modified Files Including modified files in your local source Tool 'ModifyPE v0.81' Bypassing Windows File Protection -
i don't think so... however as per the agreement when joining, you were supposed to have read the rules.... and any subrules that are on a perforum basis. Naa! Please don't make this mandatory for every new user. They're not gonna read it like they don't read the forum rules carefully when joining. I suppose it's better to link to this thread with some short words whenever there might be some need to do so.

Just a little note for newbies: One example to (unattendedly) install these little tools ... copy all of the desired files from Microsoft page to the $OEM$\$$\System32 folder on your CD and they'll be available from everywhere by just typing their name in a DOS box or run-command in Start Menu. Of course, you're free to put them in an own folder and/or link them using Windows shortcuts.

Just to clarify it: _Every_ system variable works. P.S.: Don't get upset b/c of this.

Run Installations From Cd/dvd

I agree! a non patched OS is a HUGE secutity risk, like u said, new things come available, thus new problems arise, thus patching regards I partly disagree. ^_^ is right, there just wouldn't be any security holes and security risks if the OS and the apps were build without errors. In this case a patch would never be needed, no matter what future might bring. But, of course, I'm aware that this is absolutely theoretical. There'll always be certain "deficiencies", it's just impossible to build such a big OS without errors. So: patches are needed, and patches for the patches, etc.

Yeah, I assumed that, too. I guess people just tend to prefer installers because they look good. But seriously, what's so "right" with those registry settings created by the installer? Just wondering. I mean, Mozilla also runs absolutely problem-free when just copied. It's only Sun Java Plugin which needs one single registry key to get installed properly, but that key can easily be imported by a tweak.

@all I ask pardon for my barefaced question, but what's actually wrong with just copying the ZIP-filed Mozilla?
