I can't seem to find the intel chipset drivers for http://www.amazon.com/Genuine-Dell-Dimension-Chipset-Motherboard/dp/B003A8SK42 the ones on the intel website are just updates not the actual full drivers.. I found the video card driver thou....anyone have a clue where to find them?

I think its when I installed daemon tools when it got messed up but it didnt mess up when I installed it on windows 98 ill try to uninstall daemon tools to see if it fixes the problem

I think 1.0 and 1.5 are the same but 1.5 allows you to burn cds with it

I get an error message when I run windows media player 9 to play an audio cd it says it can not play using the digital audio method and asks me if I wanna use the analog method.... If I do the analog method it crashes windows ME. It worked fine when I had windows 98 SE on the same computer using digital. Winamp plays the digital method no problem. I tried doing the unofficial wmp10 update and that did not help either... what gives?

Please give us more details! I don't understand what happened. What exactly have you done? Which directions are wrong, which ini file do you mean has changed? Reinstall KernelEX if you run into problems. the directions say to do this modify contents= line in Core.ini to read: contents=std,kexbases,kexbasen,Kstub730 but the version I downloaded was version 822 so I had to change kstub730 to kstub822

oh i see what happened the directions are now wrong because the updates change the ini file name

I got kernelex installed but not sure how to install these mods? can anyone help a noob out?

It came originally with winME but I downgraded to windows 98 se and fortunately the driver disk that came with the computer worked fine on windows 98. Also the sound driver included a dos driver so I can play games in full dos mode if I want too WOOOHOO. I've been out of the loop for awhile on here. What is the best unofficial service pack to use for windows 98 se? I use to use kernelex but i've notice it hasnt been updated in awhile so people are doing some hack with it? How do I get that working? Whats the best browser to use ? is it still opera?

The original harddrive has been changed because it was broken. Its just the regular windows 98 se cd and I use the windows 98 key that is on the back of the laptop. I downloaded the drivers from the compaq website and yes they are exact drivers....

The model is 1600-XL145 and what I mean is I used a windows 98 se I bought years ago. Unfort the driver setup files you download from compaq website checks to see if a valid compaq mobile platform and the setup says no it is not because I did not install windows 98 se from the compaq branded windows 98 cds...

I have an old windows 98 compaq laptop I lost the restore cd so i installed windows 98 using the cd I had of it and unfort the compaq drivers check to see if its a windows 98 that came from compaq off their restore cd I guess. THere must be some kind of reg hack to make the drivers think I am using the windows 98 version from compaq... Does anyone know of such a hack?

sounds like the fdisk bug..... I think windows ME bootdisk fixed it

Dumeter 3 should work on 9x I use to use that one all the time but it costs money

I notice there is abunch of 98se ones but no ME ones

I disabled system restore and it seems to help ME alot. No crashes yet

Uh Athlon XP with 98 IS NOT POSSIBLE because, it would be so fast it would rip the space time continuum. lol it is possible I used it on an amd xp 2500 barton core. If U do it make sure it has the nforce 2 chipset on the motherboard as nividia supported 9x good with it
