Instead of carrying around the cds to play games on my laptop I would like to make images and mount them... How could I do that under 9x?

And wow I can not believe how much more faster ME is..... So far its running pretty stable..... Seems opera is alot more stable on ME then 98se. Its nice to have hibernate function too... Hopefully it remains stable... I remember when it came out I always had problems with explorer crashing

What if you moved to a payment version of it? I'd be happy to pay for kernelex if u continued to support it

In firefox my mouse and keyboard wont be able to control the firefox window I have to minimize and then restore the window and my mouse will allow a few clicks before this problem happening again.... How do i fix this? Thanks for all your guys help for keeping my oldish laptop alive

My old motherboard died it was a a7n8x deluxe amd xp 2500 ran 9x beautifully...... I'd like another computer to run 9x on... Can someone help me out and go to newegg.com and build a computer that still has drivers for windows 9x?

Doesn't Steam work under the WINE project for linux..... Sounds like we should make a wine for windows 9x to run newer programs.... It may be our only way to get newer stuff working

We've been talking that topic to death and and it does appear that contrarily to popular belief 9x doesn't run on top of DOS. I refer you to Matt Pietrek's excellent book Windows 95 System Programming Secrets and Microsoft's own online documentation about that. I doubt all the problems DOS has windows 9x has... THe memory mangament the dealing with higher level memory mangement etc system resources

Be cool if you could get it run ontop of DOS or something just like 9x

This is a good project but it sucks how it removes restart in msdos mode from the shutdown options

I've spent in my self-made computer for Windows 98 SE more than I needed to buy a new one with preinstalled Vista. You may find a lot of information about how to do it in several threads in this same forum, which has been very useful to me. I'm sure it pays in terms of security, privacy and simplicity: no backdoors, no supervision of anybody at all and no Internet at start. Resources are limited, but I notice it very rarely. Using Unofficial SP-2 and some other unofficial improvements I never see the BSOD. If you use the Internet it is rather difficult to be affected by any virus. In case of trouble I have a cloned drive to change instantly from one drive to the other and it takes 2 minutes to rebuild from scratch the main one. IMO it is worth also to use Microsoft Office 97 and many old programs made specially for Windows 98 because they are more simple, easy and secure than the sophisticated ones that they are offering nowadays. Of course, if you want to play games it is better to have a playstation, and for DVD films you'd rather use the best DVD player-recorder and the widest plasma TV screen instead. Maybe MS doesn't like to hear that any customer prefers their old products, but they cannot avoid it and should be more attentive to the needs of people instead of going higher and higher in their technical and financial goals. The computer has become a very serious thing in our lives and IMHO the real goals for many users are simplicity, security and privacy, as I have already said. Would be cool if someone gave a list of the last good/fast motherboard that supported windows 98 se

As I was getting sick of having her go on mine all the time lol but anyways shes amazed how easy it is just turn on and click firefox icon... She can't believe how fast it is and prefers it over her boyfriends windows vista computer lol
