  1. dusty2all, I have not installed on a system with more than one HDD. I assume when Setup starts, it will show you a list of all partitions on all HDDs. You select the one you want to install to and partition/format as you wish. I have three partitions on my HDD (under VMware Server), and I get a dialog asking me where I want to install. Are you not getting asked about both drives? If you select the 320 and select to format it, does it give an error? Are there multiple partitions on the 320? Has it been used before? Enjoy, John.
  2. 5eraph, I have attached the file. The hash of the uncompressed file (7-Zip) is the same as the hash of the uncompressed file you attached in your last reply. I just looked in my 5ERIE8.IN_ and it is not modified by nLite - not surprising, I guess considering the error. I also noticed a rvmtmp folder in my source folder containing the tweaks file. Thanks, John.
  3. fpsdf, where did you get your copy of Windows? Is it legal with a legal key? If so, use that. If not, please read the Forum rules at the top. This is not a warez site and will not help you use an illegal copy of Windows. Enjoy, John.
  4. Vhal, I don't think this has anything to do with your problem, but you need to remove the Tweak "Explorer-Launch folder windows in a separate process". It exposes a Windows bug. You also need to stay away from turning off "push any key to boot from CD". This results in a looping Setup because it will never boot from the HDD. What VM system are you using? I use VMware Server and do not burn CDs, just point the VM to the ISO file created by nLite. Since VMs use their own drivers, yours get ignored. But, you have included many different version of the SATA drivers. I think you will need only the first two, then only the pair for 7, 8, 9 or 10 according to what HW you really have. The bad thing about text mode drivers is that the last one to get there rules. In your case, 9 and if your HW is not compatible with 9, then your install on HW will fail (probably a BSOD 07B). Sometime when an install is looping (BSODs), you can get into Safe Mode. Try hitting F8 and if you can get into Safe Mode, go to Properties on My Computer and disable Automatically Restart, then reboot. When the BSOD comes around, your system will stop so you can get and post the error code. I just noticed that your Tweaks contain the disable of AutoRestart. Still, try F8. BTW, in the nLite folder of Program Files folder is a Presets folder that will have all your previous Last Session files by date/time code, unless you have deleted them. I trust you have followed other suggestions in my last post - eg, always start with a fresh copy...? If you get a minute, please edit your long post and delete the pasted Last Session. Thanks for the attached files - much easier to deal with. Please keep us informed. Enjoy, John.
  5. boner, if you have not selected the Tweak that test point out, then you have possibly run nLite more than once against the same source. So, please attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini. Make sure to always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. Please report when you have a solution, so others can benefit. Enjoy, John.
  6. 5eraph, I tried making another ISO with my tweaks file, compressed and placed in a folder alone. During integration of the tweak file I received the attached error. I also attach my Last Session. Thanks, John.
  7. Vhal, most use automatic for the computer type. Whose bug - yours? Please attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini. Make sure to always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. Please report when you have a solution, so others can benefit. Since you have already pasted your Last Session, please be so kind as to delete it from your reply and attach it. Use the Browse... and UPLOAD buttons at the bottom right. Enjoy, John.
  8. Alpaca Portrait, have you checked the original driver folder for the files? Please post a link to where the drivers can be found and screen shots of several of the copy errors. If you can't get screen shots, please post the names of several of the file names. And finally, please attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini. Make sure to always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. Please report when you have a solution, so others can benefit. Enjoy, John.
  9. masterpointer, please attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini. Make sure to always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. Please report when you have a solution, so others can benefit. Enjoy, John.
  10. 5eraph, thanks for the reply. The reason I did not compress my .ini is what I reported earlier. When I tried that with my large .ini, the 5erie8.in_, was exactly the same as when I ran my uncompressed .ini. I will separate the files so that I have only my tweaks (7z) in the folder and try that. Right now I am chasing a completely separate and weird problem on my VM, so I will not get the tweaks tested tonight. Thanks again, John.
  11. When I figure out where I am, I will fill out my profile. Enjoy, John.
  12. dusty2all, if the truth is really known, there are some additional changes that can be made to an existing nLited source folder. Even nLite's web site points some out but in general, I am aware of no one outside of nuhi (author/owner) who knows where all the bodies are hidden. In your case, needing to rearrange and remove hot fixes (at a minimum) when they are integrated into the source and the original source is deleted will only lead to far worse grief than you already have. The (snip) in your reply - sorry about, my admonition was meant in a nice and kind way. Enjoy, John
  13. dusty2all, you are welcome. Please reread my first reply. Always start with a fresh copy of your original CD files/folders, etc. As Ponch said, you will need to start over. I suggest you consider a virtual system (VMware Server, VirtualPC, VirtualBox - all free). This will allow you to test without ever creating a CD (no more coasters) and allow much quicker turnaround. I can do an install of my XP x64 system in less than 15 minutes on my VM. Enjoy, John.
  14. 5eraph, I ran nLite and have similar results, even though I removed my really large tweak (IE settings). Attached are my .ini, Last Session and the last of the nLited 5erie8.inf. It makes no sense to me. Your tweaks that I commented out are present and mine are not. I must be doing something really stupid and obvious, but I don't see it. Thanks for your help. Enjoy, John. EDIT: I should add, that again nLite indicated that the .ini was over 50 MB and that your original tweak is in the same folder as mine with the name 5er_Original_entries_IE8Tweaks.ini. Perhaps nLite is processing that. EDIT2: I just installed a rebuilt ISO (on VM) with no IE tweaks (except my .reg files) and IE8 seems OK but I have some other problems of unknown origin at this time.
  15. dusty2all, I see two problems right now. You cannot put .NET into the hot fix section. It does not integrate, so remove all .NET stuff. You have IE7 updates placed before you install IE7 and this is going to be a real problem. Perhaps you should run an experiment by removing everything from the hot fix section and see it you can get a good install. You might consider an Update Pack for all post SP3 updates. See the RyanVM forum for options. Please let us know what is happening. Enjoy, John.
  16. iceflier, here is a 'lite' paid SW. I know nothing about it, but perhaps it has some useful functions and is fairly cheap, but not free. As far as your problems, please attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini. Make sure to always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. Please report when you have a solution, so others can benefit. Enjoy, John.
  17. dusty2all, first, please attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini. Make sure to always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. Please report when you have a solution, so others can benefit. In at least some of these cases, you can get into Safe Mode by pressing F8. Please try that and if you can, go to My Computer Properties and disable Automatically Restart and reboot. When you get your BSOD, please post the code - guess 07B. Enjoy, John.

    nLite problem

gaelon, please see the end of this thread. I am pursuing a problem myself that appears to be a case of a commented out line in an .inf getting processed. I will let you know what I learn as I debug. Enjoy, John. EDIT: I failed to mention that I see you are using Vista to create an XP ISO. Some report problems doing this and integrating an SP will not work at all.
  19. 5eraph, thanks for your response. I did try to compress the ini last night and the 5erIE8.in_ is identical, so no help there. I suspect I have just tried to do too much at once. My plan today is to remove the really large tweak (really my old machine settings) and try again with just two small ones. I will wait till I have more definitive idea what is going on, then reply to your IE8 AddOn thread if necessary. The files are too large to attach and I would not ask you to help at this time anyway. I need to do some more work first. I am curious why the command bar tweak shows up even though it is commented out. Maybe this is akin to this thread. See toward the bottom. Gaelon comments that a commented out line gets processed. Thanks, John. EDIT: This discussed has been moved/continued in IE8 addon thread.
  20. 5eraph, I've got a mess! Don't know what I did to deserve this. I used your 5er_IE8_Addon_2009-03_1_x64.7z, took your entries_IE8Tweaks.ini and modified it. My modifications amounted to removing a number of your tweaks by placing a ; in front of all the Registry commands. I then used " Reg2Inf v0.46 - http://tinyurl.com/fgqyf" to convert my .reg file and copied it onto the end of yours after removing the upper parts that I thought were not needed. It ended up over an MB. Here is some lines of the transition from yours to mine: ; "When a pop-up is encountered: Always open pop-up in a new tab" ; "Open links from other programs in: A new tab in the current window" HKCU,"Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\TabbedBrowsing","PopupsUseNewWindow",0x10001,2 ; Settings from my old machine ; Reg2Inf v0.46 - http://tinyurl.com/fgqyf HKCU,"Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer",,0x0 HKCU,"Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer","Show_FullURL",0x10001,00,00,00,00 HKCU,"Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer","SmartDithering",0x10001,01,00,00,00 And from the bottom of 5erie8.inf after running nLite: [Tweaks.AddReg] HKCU,"Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\LinksBar","Enabled",0x10001,0 HKCU,"Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main","AlwaysShowMenus",0x10001,0 HKCU,"Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main","IE8RunOnceCompletionTime",1,d6,74,a1,f0,a8,d1,c9,01 HKCU,"Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main","IE8RunOnceLastShown",0x10001,1 HKCU,"Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main","IE8RunOnceLastShown_TIMESTAMP",1,4e,7b,14,eb,a8,d1,c9,01 HKCU,"Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main","IE8RunOncePerInstallCompleted",0x10001,1 HKCU,"Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main","IE8TourShown",0x10001,1 ......................Removed about 50 lines....................... HKCU,"Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\TabbedBrowsing","OpenInForeground",0x10001,1 HKCU,"Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\TabbedBrowsing","PopupsUseNewWindow",0x10001,2 HKCU,"Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\CommandBar","CommandBarEnabled",0x10001,0Please notice the last entry removes the command bar, and it is truly gone on my VM. I had commented this line out (with a ; ). My three home pages were not there and there were many other problems in IE8 and my system. The .reg I started with had worked fine before. One really strange thing I noticed when I added this .ini to nLite is the size shown was something like 52 MB. The .ini file is a little over 1 MB and the 52 MB looks like the size of the whole folder containing the .ini, your original .ini, your IE8 AddOn and several other AddOns. If you have any ideas what happened, please let me know. Thanks, John.
  21. crookadile, the original method you posted will work, if you make sure no icon is in the upper left corner, then run the registry file, followed by closing the Windows Explorer process and restarting it. Use the Task Manager to end the explorer.exe process and start it back up. You can also write a batch file to do this whole process. Enjoy, John.

    nLite problem

gaelon, we need to see your Last Session.ini (please attach - not paste), and know more about your original Windows CD. You said the file differed only by lines with a ; in front, but the files are considerably different in size. I am running XP x64 and compared my original files to your original files and found that yours are considerable larger than mine. I also DLed font.inf (Version: 5.1.2600.0) and intl.inf from here and they are also larger than yours. Is your source a language different from ENU? Were any Service Packs slipped into the source before you got it? Enjoy, John.

    nLite problem

gaelon, please attach the files and we will take a look. Enjoy, John.
  24. crookadile, what XP are you running? Please post a link to where you found the tweak. Are you sure it is for XP? I use Regedit 5. Enjoy, John.
  25. bizzybody, your _U.INI contains your key and password. Please remove the attachment ASAP and remove your secret data. One problem I saw on quick inspection is placing DirectX in the hot fix section. This will not work. I will look some more and update this post if I see other things. Enjoy, John. EDIT: I don't see anything obvious. If removing DirectX does not help, then may be time to drop some stuff and trial and error you way to a solution. Perhaps some one else will have an idea. BTW, XP x64 has a latter version of DirectX and I assume XP does also. Oh, are you using a VLK (Volume Incense Key) CD of XP - see MS KB95077?
