  1. I just got some 64-Bits hardware at hand to begin my test. I beleive it is the same process as the "regular" Windows. Just follow the guide HERE I will report my results in a few days... the only thing bothering me is that I see 2 folders on the root of the CD: 1- AMD64 2- I386 And for now, I don't know how to deal with them.
  2. The only way I know you can work with a CD where you removed the BOOTFIX.BIN file it the following: In you BIOS, you'll have to set the boot device priority to 1- HARD DRIVE 2- CD-ROM So when you boot for the first time, since there is nothing to boot on the hard drive, it will boot from the CD-ROM. After the TextSetup mode is done, the computer reboot and will continue to the hard drive since there is something to boot now... Remember that your Hard Drive must NOT be bootable for this to work...
  3. I agree, VMware is expensive but well worth it!
  4. The point is Windows will re-start the installation process from the beginning after each reboot... You must do this with a Multi-Boot menu.
  5. What! NON-WRITTEN? Your gonna get a slap in the back of the head from the moderator for this one!
  6. Have you tried to boot it?
  7. I beleive that doing a MultiBoot DVD is exactly the same process as a CD.
  8. Well here is my experience on that matter. 1- Use the default IP adress of your router and build your network around it. Why? because I've seen some SOHO router resetting themselves after a power outage and other obscure reasons. I'll be using 192.168.1.1 for my example 2- Asign a static IP adress to your server like 192.168.1.2 then a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 then 192.168.1.1 as the gateway and 192.168.1.2 as the Primary DNS server (the W3K server itself) 3- Set up your DHCP service on the Server (deactivate this feature on the router) a ) Set a Scope of adresses let's says 192.168.1.10 to 192.168.1.30 b ) Set some reservation for your Stations so they always get the same IP adress 4- Start your DNS services or start the Active Directory Service which will set up the DNS service. Set up your Domain name, User acounts, and so on. Remember that if you own a private second level domain name and you have an external website or Email adresses you should NOT use this name for your network domain name. (like mydomain.com) Instead, go with a SubDomain name like home.mydomain.com Why again? Because if you do mydomain.com from now on, your client won't be able to go to the website and get their Email. The Server think he is the authoritative one for the request and won't be able to resolve the external adress (for mydomain.com) 5- Use the port fowarding functions of your router to get the right port to the correct Station... I hope this help! EDIT: use the Alternate configuration tab in the TCP/IP configuration panel to assign the same IP, subnet, gateway as the DHCP server would but use the router as the DNS server. This way, if you are taking your server down for some reason, your client will be able to access Internet...
  9. Try the new VMware Beta. There is a Video Capture function included. The only drawback is that you have to use their codec to see the movie...
  10. look's like I'm on the right track if I use local.newdomain.com thank's for thoses links
  11. Yeah, after many tests, I came to the conclusion that I have to change the domain name to something like: local.newdomain.com or newdomain.local I don't know which one is better? And I guess I'll have to start all over again and uninstall/reinstall Active Directory and the DNS service. Crap! Is there any simpler way to do this?
  12. I've been testing the forwarder option without success. According to this webpage, I cannot do what I am looking for... http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...duct=winsvr2003
  13. Hello all, I've been busy last week deploying a Windows 2003 std server along with some WinXP clients. Here is the basic: 1- I deployed their domain on the 2003 Server (ex: newdomain.com) 2- The same server is also providing DHCP and DNS for the clients 3- This company has a website and Email hosted by their ISP The problem is that if I use my 2003 Server for DNS, it won't resolve their website adress and the Email account inside their network. (ex: http://www.newdomain.com and pop3.newdomain.com hosted externally) So for now, my workaround was to use the DNS service provided thru the router and not using the one on the 2003 Server. But, doing this is tough because I had to log every computer with their account username and password to make sure they can log in locally on their computer... you get the idea.
  14. I'd like to be politely corrected when I do such mistakes. Otherwise, how will I know all the errors I am doing...
  15. There was a News Update on Steam today telling that the contest is over and they'll take the time to check every map submitted...
  16. Well I can test until I will reinstall my Windows. Not that it is outdated but I have to move some partition because of that stupid HL2 installer Have you noticed you cannot change the Destination drive when installing Half-Life2? It wants to go into %ProgramFiles% and you cannot change that. C R A P **** Valve + Vivendi
  17. Yes, the rest seems to be working properly, I took a look at the Hardware panel, browsed the start menu, etc...
  18. I don't know if this could be related but my %ProgramFiles% is located on the D: drive, not on C:
  19. Sorry to spoil the party but I installed XPize on my Windows XP PS2 French version and it screwed up Internet Explorer and Wordpad as well! I am now using a backup of Internet Explorer I found in C:\WINDOWS\system32\dllcache\iexplore.exe Even if I uninstalled your program, I didn't came back...
  20. Hummm... I had bad result with my overburned Maxell 700Mo... it is giving CRC redundant error. So I guess that overburning is only for oversized Media, not regular one... BTW, the 850Mo VCD-R is working fine
  21. If I remember correctly, the upper right (or left?) pixel is the one to determine the transparency. So if you have a pink background you want to be transparent, make sure the corner's pixel has this color
  22. You can hide them with UltraISO.
  23. The driver is the following: http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scripts-df...25&DwnldID=5381
