  1. I got the ISO image about 4-5 days ago. I tried to install 10130 on my test computer that has release 10074 on it. The install seems to go OK, it got to 100%, then rebooted. I was then asked to chose a keyboard type, so I chose USA. Then I got two choices (1) to run a diagnostic test or something like that, and (2) restart. The first time I chose diagnostic. It said something about a BOOT ERROR or something. Then it reverted to build 10074. A few days later I tried again. I got to the same spot, after choosing the USA keyboard, and then I got the same two choices. This time I chose RESTART. When the computer rebooted, I still had release 10074. I was going to just get the regular FAST RING download about two days ago, but I thought I would just wait for the next FAST RING release, probably 10034 or something. Anyone else have this problem with ISO 10130 ?? Thanks, Mike
  2. swampy--you are correct. I actually like what I see in Windows 10 so far. EDGE needs a bit improvement though. Mike
  3. Swampy and NoelC, Thanks for the reply.
  4. I was away for a while, and was wondering if I could skip this 10122 release, and wait for the next one, or do they all build on each other ? Thanks, Mike
  5. dajhorn, Thanks for the reply.
  6. I have read that in order to install the trial version of Office 2016 you needed to first remove Office 2013, but I can't find anything about Office 2010. Must Office 2010 also be removed first before downloading Office 2016 ?? Thanks, Mike
  7. Tripredacus---Thanks for the reply. Mike
  8. jaclaz...Thanks for the reply. Mike
  9. Must you have the computer turned on, AND have Internet Explorer opened, to get Automatic Updates. I have Windows 7 on the one computer and Windows 8.1 on the other. Thanks, Mike
  10. Probably a dumb question, but must your computer be turned on AND have Internet Explorer opened, or just tuned on. Running Windows 8.1 on the one and Windows 7 on the other computer. Have cable internet. Thanks, Mike
  11. jaclaz, Thanks for the reply. I am talking about a startup. I usually wait a minute or two, and then click on the Outlook 2016 icon on the taskbar. It seems like I see the 10 or 12 emails messages at once, instead of them downloading one at a time. The computer that is running Windows 10 and Outlook 2016 is about 10 years old, and has an Intel I3 series processor with 6 gig of memory. My main computer is two years old, running Windows 8.1, has an Intel I7 processor and 8 gig of memory. So, speed should be on the side of the newer computer with the I7 processor and 8 gig of memory. Just my findings, Mike
  12. I figured out the column issue, but still think Outlook 2016 is much faster than Outlook 2013. Anybody else see the same. Mike
  13. I have a test computer that I have Windows 10 on. I recently downloaded the trial version of Office 2016 which includes Outlook 2016. I setup my email info. on this computer so I can retrieve my emails from this computer also. I put the Outlook icon on the taskbar. When I click on that Outlook icon to open Outlook, as soon as Outlook opens, I see ALL my new emails at once. Usually ten or more overnight. On my other much faster and newer computer running Office 2013 and Windows 8.1, and Outlook 2013, when I open Outlook, my emails are downloaded one at a time, much slower. Is Outlook 2016 that much faster than Outlook 2013. Question 2. I have at least 20 folders down the left hand side, inbox, Outbox, Deleted, etc. All the folders (except the INBOX) have the same columns at the top. First sorted by date, and then these columns ..FROM, SUBJECT, RECEIVED, SIZE, which I like. The INBOX starts by date and then has the Subject under the From in the same column. I would assume that since this is a trial version, there are still some issues. But as I said, all the other columns are fine. Any suggestions, Thanks, Mike
  14. netbookdelgob---Thanks for the reply. I did not know that. Noel-- Everything looks the same in Task Manager. I put the test computer along my main computer that still has 8.1 on it, and everything in Task Manager on both computers look the same.
  15. I have a test computer that had Windows 7 on it. I have been downloading all the Windows 10 previews including the latest 10061. I have taken up over 175 Gig of space with all these downloads. I did that disc cleanup, and even the system cleanup of old files, but I do not think everything is being removed. The only other program I have on the computer of any size is Office 2013. I was wondering since I also made a DVD copy of ISO 10061, can I wipe the hard drive and install that ISO file, or must I have an operating system on the computer first ?? Thanks, Mike
  16. Update, well I slowly deleted one message after another. It finally got faster, and now she has about 20 to 30 messages in her INBOX.
  17. My wife reads most of her messages on her cell phone, and then deletes them there, but they are NOT deleted from her computer running Win 8.1 and Outlook 2010. She now has over 1,000 messages in her inbox that are not read. When we click on a message and then click the Delete X at the top of the screen, it takes at least 20 seconds to delete that message. Sometimes I notice this message at the bottom of the screen "UPDATING CACHED MESSAGES 0/1053 How can I delete 99 % of these messages a lot faster ? Thanks, Mike
  18. About two days ago I started getting a message at the bottom of Outlook 2013 that says "Synchronizing Inbox" This keeps flashing. I have Googled the problem and have tried several of the suggestions. Nothing works. It seems like nothing worked for the others either, because I have not seen a Thank you response that they solved the problem. I am really getting fed up with Microsoft problems. Usually it is Internet Explorer having issues, now it is Outlook 2013. Maybe one of the updates caused the problem, but as I said, there are many posting the same problem for a few years now on Google. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you, Mike I am running Windows 8.1 if that matters.
  19. I thought the "latest" Windows Defender WAS the old Microsoft Security Essentials.
  20. DP, I removed AVG per your suggestion, and when I went to check Windows Defender, it was already enabled. I think I will stay will Windows Defender until Windows 10 is pretty well developed. It would probably give the least amount of conflicts since it is made by Microsoft. Many thanks !! Mike
  21. DP, thanks for the reply. When I do that, I get this message "The Windows Defender Service service on Local Computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by some other service or program" Suggestions, Thanks Mike
  22. A few days ago, I went into Task Manager (I think) and disabled or stopped the process for Windows Defender. I then downloaded and installed AVG free. I now want to go back to Windows Defender because I think it might work better with these different Windows 10 releases. Anyway I can't. If I go back into Task Manager, I do not see Windows Defender listed anywhere. If I just click on Windows Defender from All Programs, I am told that "That App has been turned off" and is not monitoring my system. It tells me to go to Security and Maintainance and check what programs are listed etc, or something like that. But Windows Defender is not listed there. I even tried right clicking Windows Defender and saying to Run as administrator, but I get the same message about That App being turned off, but it never tells me how to turn it back on. Maybe if I delete AVG, I will be able to re-enable Windows Defender, but I do not want to take that chance. Any suggestions ?? Thanks, Mike
  23. Thanks everyone for the replies. DosProbie......If, after I click on the Start button, I resize the next screen, I do not as easily see the first row of six icons that are on the desktop. But if I maximize the screen, that first row of six, plus the other two rows of six each, are easily seen through the next window. Very annoying. I do not remember that with release 9926. Hopefully, (in my case) there is a fix for that shortly. Again, if I click on the Start button, I ONLY want to see the popup menu of programs etc, and NOT the icons that are on the desktop. Just my rant. Thanks, Mike
  24. Noel, Thanks for the reply. Well I think that is stupid. Why would anyone want that ? You can't see the items clearly. The regular START items are overlayed onto the Desktop icons in that area. If I click on the Start button, I want to see the items that popup, NOT the desktop icons that are also there. I was almost liking the new Start button, but not now. I assume you are using Classic Shell, or Startis back ?? Thanks, Mike
  25. I just downloaded and install the latest Windows 10 release, 10041 after two hours all seemed OK, except. When I click on the START button, I see my regular desktop icons, but the regular menu comes up like File Explorer, Documents, Settings, Most Used, Internet explorer, Control panel etc. It looks like the one screen is overlayed on the other. You can make it out, but it is blurry. Is this my problem, and how can I fix it, or is it a issue with this build ? Thanks, Mike
