  1. Hi, I know there are no drivers by Mustek for their 1200 ED scanner that work with Windows XP Pro. However on their site, they give info. on how to make it work. I need to edit the registry, install the Windows 2000 driver, then change the regisrty back to the way it was. My question is what is the exact sequence ? Do I edit the registry first, install the Windows 2000 driver(I already have it downloaded to my desktop), turn the computer off, plug in the scanner, turn computer back on, change registry back etc ?? What is the exact sequence please ?? Thanks, Mike
  2. Thanks Blackwar, You answered both questions, and I did as you directed. Thanks much, Mike
  3. Its me again. Two questions this time, if I may. 1- I used GATOR on my old computer to remember passwords etc. I thought there was a similar feature in Windows XP. I do not like all the garbage that comes with Gator, but I do like the feature of not having to remember all my passwords etc. 2- How do you stop items from loading at startup. I went into System info., Software environment, Startup programs, and saw what was loading, but there was no box to uncheck to stop it from loading, as was in Windows Me. Thanks again, Mike
  4. Thanks everyone for you suggestions. I deceided to foward the mesages from my old computer by SELECTING ALL for each of the five folders that I had created. Mike
  5. I have a new computer that I just loaded Windows XP Pro. How can I copy the folders that I set up on my old computer in Outlook Express that was running Windows Me. In the past, I would go into Windows, Application Data, All Identities, 50394753839 (many numbers), MIcrosoft, Outlook Express. At that point I would copy all the DBX files to a floppy. Then I would go to the same place on the new computer and copy the DBX files, and everything worked. But I do not see the same path listed here with XP. I have maybe 200 letters in several of those folders that I would like to keep. Thanks for your help. Mike
  6. If a friend of mine had one of those corp. XP Pro. copies, and he was planning to install it on a new computer, would the following be good advice: 1- Never run WINDOWS UPDATE from the popup menu from the START button. 2- Never download that SP-1 3- Other patches, fixes, and security fixes could be safely downloaded, or do you think that MS will have something in ALL downloads to check for pirated copies ? Thanks, Mike
