I haven't encountered that problem yet. I don't think thats supposed to happen. Is your taskbar locked in place? "right click taskbar LOCK TASKBAR ? " I Put my taskbar on the top but It should be the same at the bottom where 99% of windows users have it.

If you completely remove it, how are you going to unplug usb devices that are not hot-swappable? BTW, you haven't specified if you are the ONLY person that's going to use that PC you want to remove the safe-remove icon. He can Right click things like thumdrives in "My Computer" and select "Safely Remove"

I'm guessing your using Vista..... You can right click the taskbar and select Task Manager, then click the Performance Tab. Near the bottom click Resource manager and that will pop up in a new window. Select "Disk" and It should show you whats accessing the Harddrive. I'm No expert but thats My guess. Hope this helps.

You can go to google and search for free .wav downloads for your sounds. You can save the sounds wherever you want and you go to control panel\sound and select sounds tab, then you click the sound you want to change and go to browse and find the .wav file you downloaded. it should work then. thats what i did.
