  1. so why does it work for me since a year now? further, if it wouldnt work, why should it be in the msfn unattended guide (http://unattended.msfn.org/global/reference.htm#components)? both, bfletch and ven42, who have posted their winnt.sif, have not set OemPreinstall=Yes so did anyone probe this yet?
  2. because it works with winnt.sif at least every time i made an ua-cd. but, sorrowly, i have no idea why it is not working for the threadstarter. maybe because of ?
  3. for a setup from cd the answer file is winnt.sif and for a setup from hdd or network it is unattend.txt but the files are the same.
  4. hmm i dont think so. in the windows world nearly nothing is case sensitive here's my complete list: [Components] accessopt=Off calc=On certsrv=Off certsrv_client=Off certsrv_server=Off charmap=On chat=Off deskpaper=Off dialer=Off fax=Off fp_extensions=Off fp_vdir_deploy=Off freecell=Off hearts=Off hypertrm=Off IEAccess=Off iis_common=Off iis_ftp=Off iis_htmla=Off iis_inetmgr=Off iis_nntp=Off iis_nntp_docs=Off iis_pwmgr=Off iis_smtp=Off iis_smtp_docs=Off iis_www=Off iis_www_vdir_printers=Off iis_www_vdir_terminalservices=Off iisdbg=Off indexsrv_system=Off licenseserver=Off media_clips=Off media_utopia=Off minesweeper=Off mousepoint=Off mplay=Off msmq_ADIntegrated=Off msmq_Core=Off msmq_HTTPSupport=Off msmq_LocalStorage=Off msmq_MQDSService=Off msmq_RoutingSupport=Off msmq_TriggersService=Off msnexplr=Off mswordpad=On netcis=Off netoc=Off objectpkg=Off OEAccess=Off paint=Off pinball=Off rec=Off reminst=Off rstorage=Off solitaire=Off spider=Off templates=Off TerminalServer=Off TSClients=Off TSWebClient=Off vol=On WMAccess=Off WMPOCM=Off wms=Off wms_admin_asp=Off wms_admin_mmc=Off wms_server=Off zonegames=Off
  5. Cheers eirogge I was just looking for that... Thanks <{POST_SNAPBACK}> umm, its just the official msfn guide, nothing special but anyway ty
  6. http://unattended.msfn.org/advanced/cosmetics/theme.htm
  7. keep in mind that the *Access (IEAcccess, OEAccess etc.) only dont create visible shortcuts to the programs but the programs are installed. i have [Components] in winnt.sif under [GuiUnattended] and it works like a charm but that shouldnt matter as the winnt.sif is parsed completely at the end of the text setup and is not parsed step by step in graphical setup.
  8. Could you write how add Microsoft .NET Framework Version 1.1 Language Pack for this instruction? thnks <{POST_SNAPBACK}> just make an admin install for the language pack and copy the files to the same folder as the admin install of dotnet. first setup the dotnet framework, then the language pack.
  9. Hi, first of all: this thread is NOT about changing the path of my documents, disabling administrative shares and/or disabling automatic network shares. I want to disable the folder structure my documents completely. is this somehow possible? Maybe by unregistering a dll or a regtweak or something? Thanks for your ideas. edit: what i tried so far is "regsvr32 /u mydocs.dll" but it seems to have no effect.
  10. there were problems with certain installpackages and windows installer 3.1 so it was removed. since yesterday (i believe) there is a v2 of windows installer 3.1 out as you can see in the posts above yours.
  11. @dlf: this always stands there and is no real help. the important thing is the sys file that caused the crash (portcls.sys in this case). boooggy mentioned it belongs to a soundcard driver so try another driver or leave it out if it is not a driver shipped with windows.
  12. http://www.microsoft.com/germany/sicherhei...05_windows.mspx here's the new official page edit: oops, german page can't fine the english one. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...53-30277c196923 this is the only update available. win2000 only.
  13. alternatively you can use a windows-build of mkisofs but cdimage does a great job too.
  14. expand explorer.ex_ explorer.exe and makecab explorer.exe
  15. no, this regards the design of the startmenu
  16. you can throw out this start /wait. if you add an exe-file to a batch-file it waits the execution time by default before starting the next entry. the switches are correct. qchain.exe is no longer needed, too. you can make it even simpler by using for-statements in the batchfile. example: for %%x in (%SystemDrive%\Install\Hotfix\Typ1\KB*.exe) do %%x /q /n /z for %%x in (%SystemDrive%\Install\Hotfix\Typ2\KB*.exe) do %%x /Q:A /R:N for %%x in (%SystemDrive%\Install\Hotfix\Typ3\KB*.exe) do %%x pay attention that i always rename the hotfix files from something like "WindowsXP-KB867282-x86-ENU.exe" to "KB867282.exe" and the for-statements above only work with files beginning with "KB" - as you may have seen already
  17. you can extract the display driver and wdm driver (if you need it) and put it to your OEMPnpDriversPath. with the control panel you can use the /r and /s method on the extracted (!) package. ati packs even their installshield installers first using nsis so just run the installer and check your temp directory or if it asks you where to save the files, check that directory.
  18. as i replied you via pm for everyone who is interested: you just need the msi file. everything else is useless. i deploy it using the following switch and iexpress.exe : msiexec /qn /i jre.msi ADDLOCAL=jrecore IEXPLORER=1 MOZILLA=1 REBOOT=ReallySuppress JAVAUPDATE=0 WEBSTARTICON=0
  19. download the whole package from java.com, extract the msi and install it using the switches in the first post.
  20. if you just use the nero burning rom app why go through all that trouble if you can just deploy the Nero folder from the redist package using 7z sfx or whatever. for me it shrinks down to ~ 9.5mb.
  21. Why should i put that on?, as far as i know this is only for XP Home, but do i still need them for XP Pro Hope somebody can answer to this... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> nope. it is definitely needed.
  22. yeah its not meant to work for xp without sysprep but it has the side effect that is disables this oobe video.
  23. [Data] AutomaticUpdates=Yes [Unattended] FactoryMode=Yes this should do it. the factory mode thing is just for disabling this 5sec windows logo animation which is part of oobe. you shouldnt need a oobeinfo.ini if this doesnt work, disable the AutoLogon via winnt.sif and add a user / autologon at t12 as described in the guide.
  24. you can delete setupxp.htm and readme.htm but you need to have win51, win51.ip and win51ip.sp2. otherwise you get the error shown above. i had the same thing once.
