  1. does anyone recommend partiion magic pro? and what is better about it than other partition software?
  2. i use Superantivirus, very effective, fast efficient, but you have to check your preferences to get it the way you want, (the splash window pops up on startup) and also can scan on startup pretty cool, finished a scan in 9 min, and fixed 487 errors like that *snap* (left by spylocked) highly recommended, also recommend *Superanti-spyware* that's what helped me get rid of spylocked!
  3. is there anything else, that is similar to this cd? it's pretty cool, but sometimes i wish it was a little more user friendly
  4. here's another free antivirus software, and it really works, in ten minutes of scanning, it found 487 errors, and fixed all of them like that! *snap* SUPERantivirus http://www.superantivirus.com/ and another anti-spyware program SUPERantispyware http://www.superantispyware.com/ these are great, efficient, fast and FREE! and if your looking for software that resembles microsoft office, try open office 2.2 it's free, and pretty much the same thing with a couple extra features! http://www.openoffice.org/ or 3d modeling, get the 'personal learning edition' of maya 8 for free, undoubtedly the best i have found, google sketchup is pretty hard to work with, if you don't know what your doing, blender is pretty cool, made for intermediate users DOGA l1 l2 l3, is for beginners if you know of any other good one's, please pm me what they are, as i'm still looking for good 3d modeling software! desktop stuff, desktop toy, http://www.idesksoft.com/ yahoo widgets, widgets made by yahoo users, some pretty useful http://widgets.yahoo.com/ Rocketdock, a icon doc just like the mac! (you have to mess with the settings)for PC! change the size of the dock, the style, the opacity, make it autohide, change the zoom amount when you hover over it, VERY COOL! http://www.punksoftware.com/rocketdock Object desktop, change your theme to tons of differnt styles, also contains windowblinds, stardock, icon packager, make your try google searching it, i can't remeber the web address irod, ever had a widget you could drive all over your desktop?, cool toy, but better hide it when the boss comes around! http://www.freewarefiles.com/program_2_16_16906.html deskloops, interesting, create up to 6 desktops at one time, just click the tabs to change, or put your mouse on the side of the screen to change windows, it organizes your apps. so you have to scroll to change windows http://www.xilokit.com/deskloops/ vidshot capturer, capture video of your desktop, hit record, and whatever you do is recorded in a video, great for doing tutorials for someone! http://www.geovid.com/Screen_VidShot/ microangelo, create your own icons google it!
  5. has anyone else used the ultimate boot cd for windows? try looking it up on at www.ubcd4win.com! it's very very cool! many many many many applications worth the time to build the cd!
  6. try looking up the UBCD, (ultimate boot cd for windows) it has a ton of very useful applications! and it also has a device utility that identifies all your hardware... it may be a little difficult to get everything right in creating the disk, but if you follow the instructions (i'm giving you a link that has the download and instructions) that is on the webpage, it should be no problem! useful for way more then identifying hardware! even if you're not really intersted, you should look it up just to see all it's functions! www.ubcd4win.com just hit downloads, select it, and pick a mirror site to download, follow the instructions on creating the boot built cd and do whatever you like with it! you don't even have to boot off it, just insert it in your drive, and it should show up (your start button will look a little different, that's where you run it from) select your tool you want and use it, if you need help, you could google it, or for tutorials!
  7. i really like the user interface, and style and themes... but i agree, wait until at least sp1 comes out for it also, it would be alot better, if you didn't have to upgrade most of your hardware, you end up paying alot more for it than you realize! if you like the theme's, you can download the 'vista transformation pack 6' from various sites, just google it! or you could try the 'longhorn tranformation pack' which is also pretty cool, but again it they're only the user interfaces, with the themes! AND they will slow down your computer quite a bit. especially for older machines. you also may need 'windowblinds' a program that packages more theme's, in order to use the aero theme! but they both require some time in order to set all your preferences, only worth the time if you have a fast machine, but not the money to buy the real thing, doen't have any of the applications either! still pretty good though!
  8. i created a user account, but that still had the same problem, but when i went back into the administrator account, i was able to move them, i have no idea what's going on, it's very wierd!!!!
  9. i reformatted my laptop, and reistalled an oem version of xp pro, and when i customized my desktop to show the my computer icon, networks, and my documents, and IE, they showed up on the left side of the screen... but i can't move them anywhere, i did the same thing to 6 other laptops, and all of them are normal, but this one won't let me move them... i unchecked the auto arrange, and the align to grid just to check, but they still don't move! can someone help me fix my desktop?
  10. have you ever been working with a perfectly good laptop with a perfectly good battery, and one day you take it off the charger after charging it up, and your battery lasts only a couple minutes and dies? it's cause it's a scam!!! the company that makes batteries, program them that after a certain amount of charges, it turns itself off! and the battery is still good! yet they have made it so it self destructs itself! (not really explosion... but it kills itself...) they do that so you have to spend money to buy another one! me and a couple others are experimenting on trying to reprogram the perfectly good batteries so they'll work again. does anyone have any suggestions on how to do it? there's no switch or anything, it's just programmed that way!
  11. thanks, i took out everything, and it changed it's beep to a different one, so i added the hdd, then the ram, and now it goes straight to the bios and won't try to boot off the hdd, the keyboard is broken, cause it can't go up or down, but it goes left and right, so i plugged in another keyboard and it works, and the battery was what caused the beeping, must have gone bad... is there anyone that could give me a suggestion on getting it to boot to xp, and not go into the bios, or is it just the broken keyboard with something stuck in the f2 button? now it beeps every once in a while, it worked, then it doesn't... now it beeps again! it must be the keyboard... anybody know a good (easy) way to disconnect a keyboard off a laptop?
  12. i'm trying to format a hdd, and when i try to reinstall a clean copy of xp pro, it wipes the chipset driver as well as the sata driver, i am trying to integrate the driver using nlite, but it is only .cat files, and no .inf files!!! nlite can't integrate those... now i downloaded the drivers from the fujitsu website, but they only come in .exe applications! i extracted them and they gave me another application... infinstall.exe i extract that and all i get is .cat files!!! can anybody tell me how to integrate the .cat file i need? or where i can get an intel chipset 82915pm/gm/gms/ driver that has a .inf file i can integrate? i tried intel's site and the driver i found for my chipset doesn't work!
  13. i went into the editor, and found out there's a line counter built in, i think it's just notepad, and i just clicked edit, go, and entered the line, but now it's a different line every time i fix and reboot... thanks though... all the lines have to to with an 'atheros' wlan driver, i tried not even integrating the driver and used an intel wlan driver instead, but the atheros driver lines still show up in a different spot every time, i run a search for the word atheros in the document, and it onlly shows up one time, i tried removing the brackets ( [1] ) i tried changing the number to zero and i tried deleting the line, which only shows up somewhere else in the documents every time i reintegrate it
  14. is your fujitsu e4010 notebook pc beeping really loud on bootup, and can't even boot? is it starting to boot (while beeping) and goes to a black screen? MINE TOO!!! i can't figure out why, it might be the battery going bad, or the keyboard, but all it does is beep, it never stops and never boots, can anyone help me, or any suggestions?
  15. i'm using nlite to create a bootable xp pro disk, but whenever i try, it says that line 15821 of the inf file \i386\txtsetup.sif is invalid... i copied xp to a directory, opened nlite, and integrated all the updated drivers for the model, (without the updates, it couldn't recognize the hdd) then i slipstreamed all the microsoft updates and hotfixes. i finished the process, and created the image, sent the iso to my desktop, then i burned the iso to a dvd... when i did that, it wouldn't recognize the hard drive... so i copied the drivers off the system restore disk, and ntegrated them into the iso... now it brings up the error, Line 15821 of the inf file \i386\txtsetup.sif is invalid, press any key to exit... i even copied the txtsetup.sif to the iso and replaced the old one, with the one off the restore disk, i edited it to do the unattended install, and now it still brings up that same error any suggestions would be very helpful...
  16. i'm trying to create a boot cd for xp on my s7020d with nlite, but whenever it tries to boot, it says the line 15821 of the inf file \i386\txtsetup.sif is ionvalid, i have no idea how i'm supposed to find line 15821 in the txtsetup, there's no way i'm going to count down 15821 lines... i used nlite to create the image, and i integrated all the correct drivers off the fujitsu website, and i slipstreamed all the updates and hotfixes... at first it kept saying it couldn't find the hard disk, so i updated the chipset driver, and now it starts checking my configuration when that error pops up, (line 15821 of the inf file \i386\txtsetup.sif is invalid, setup cannot continue, press any key to exit, before, when i set my unattended settings, i changed the display resolution, but i reset that back to default, so it's not the resolution... i've been working on about 16 different laptops, 8 fujitsu s7010's and 8 s7020's... the 7010's i got to work fine, but it took me three weeks to figure out, as i'm attempting to learn this as i go, (which isn't very easy trying to learn nlite and create a bootable xp pro disk at the same time without any resources...) but the 7020's always come up with that specific error, any suggestions, i finally got so busy i forgot how to do everything, now i end up skipping a step somewhere or something...
