  1. slow for a winterm connected straight to a fast server
  2. have you heard of the ubcd? is everytghing set to default? do you want me to send you that directory? your ram may be full, if you have a ubcd, there's a program on it that let's you clear your ram, try looking it up on http://www.ubcd4win.com/ but the thing is, you have to actually build it yourself, or i can just send you the program itself, it's freeware that comes on the disk that i built i know the oem disk works fine, with no problems, cause i am using a slipstreamed copy of it right now have you tried making a clean copy of your msdn? no extra stuff, just copied and burned? if you PM me your email, i'll send the directory, all the microsoft update patches, and that ram clearing program, if you have a valid license, and your own product key (no i won't use it or distribute it in any way, i'll send you them and delete the message so i won't have it anymore,) if you want, i'll send the iso of a already slipstreamed disk, (plain oem sp2 with all updates, but you'll have to integrate the drivers you want.
  3. you said the last screen before starting the process, it's right after general&patches, it's general and services is everything set to default? try disabling the minimum requirements flag,
  4. give me a sec and i'll see what mine are, i never change these i don't think, (the services tab?)
  5. want me to send you one? if you have a license, i'll send you the iso, or the directory so you can make your own iso with it configged with your drivers i just used it yesterday, and also this morning for integrating my sata drivers and all the updates, and it works fine, no problems
  6. mine is oem xp pro sp2, and i'll throw in most of all the microsoft updates, (is it possible to email an iso? i'll make one for you if i can, just specify how you want it configged, and i'll process and create an iso for you, or i could just send you the oem directory, (sp2, but no updates, you'll have to process those with all your drivers again)
  7. it could be your msdn disk might literally be partially corrupted, it could have been near a magnetic source at one time, or something or you're not configging it properly, (but that shouldn't happen)
  8. i have the xp pro oem files, i copied them to a directory on my laptop cause i'm using nlite all the time, if you want i can try to email them to you as long as you have a valid license
  9. i never figured out how it happened, but i installed desktop icon toy, and it still didn't work in the user account, but in administrator, it fixed it, i deleted the account and created another one, but it didn't work either, so i rebooted and uninstalled desktop icon toy, and then it worked... it must have been a registry error
  10. it was simply my sata diver was not configged correctly
  11. briefly describe your configurations, (do you have all drivers?) is your hdd sata or ata
  12. do you have an oem disk somewhere? what version of xp are you trying to install, how much space is on the harddrive your trying to install it on, and how much ram, (is open) could yourhdd be full? so it can't copy the loading setup files?
  13. try just taking out the keyboard, it seems the best way to keep it from overheating it's pretty difficult to do if you haven't done it before, but it can be done i am working on a old fijutsu e4010, it's like 6 yrs. old, whenever i would boot up, it would make it's fans run like crazy, very loud, you could tell just by listening to it, that it was already getting hot inside... but i had to take out the keyboard anyway because it was bad, (someone at work spilled soda on it at one time or another) and when i did, it didn't even have to run the fan at all cooled it down immediately, almost to room temperature and charging the battery for two weeks isn't a good idea anyway, you should take it out and just plug in the laptop directly, otherwise it could shorten it's life
  14. i have partition magic 7, but it has a hard time merging paritions, and redistributing free space on my computer
  15. does it bring up a blue screen with an error?
  16. i finally solved my problem, i was using an ibm thinkpad to create the disk with nlite, so when i downloaded the drivers off fujitsu's website i didn't want to install them on the ibm, but they were .exe files... i tried extracting them only to find .cat files, but no inf! So i found the system restore disk, and just copied the sata driver files to my desktop, and integrated them in the installation, along with all of the windows updates, and internet explorer 7, and also wmp 11, (had to install wmp slipstreamer) when i created the disk, i modified the unattended settings, and made it fully automated,] i plan on using the disk on more than one laptop, so i left the product key blank, but it installed just fine and now i have a clean yet updated install of xp pro on it! it all seems so easy now that i figured it out! especially because i've been working on for over a week now! if anyone was in the same situatuion as me, and you still can't get it to install, pm me and i'll try to explain it with all the links, and a step by step process for you or we can discuss it here, it was my sata drvier, not configged correctly
