wouldnt the infs be the same? I havent known MS to really change something like infs no matter where its installin at...the only problem is that the inf you would need to look at isnt the one from the update but from the base package. Dont quote me on it, but it doesnt seem like MS would change the inf. Although if you get SP1, you could compare the files... About to test beta9 glad to see some changes After some testing...for some reason the descriptions run off on the side...

Im unsure, but I think on the board there was a way to incorporate the last JM from MS and the update and install that, so even if you had SP1a, you could still use the MS JVM...its what I do and I dont seem to have problems, the only downfall is that no new updates are being released, so if there is a problem with it, it will never be fixed unless someone takes the project on...Im pretty sure that this was done. Here it is... http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=10097&hl=MSJVM

whoops nuhi, im sorry, I havent looked at a build since I think 4, tho I might have checked 6, just like an open and close type of thing...Im just sitting here patiently awaiting until after you get the multilanguage bugs fixed and start working more on options no rush though...Ill be out of town for 2 weeks. PS Jazz, HELLO! and I like the sig, and a HELLO! to everyone else from 911cd, looks like you all found me LOL

I actually suggested not forcibly removing valueadd folder because I, like many of my friends who do tech work, put custom things in valueadd and remove the "3rd party" stuff that exists in there. Ive moved most things to runonceex capability, but for things that dont work there, I move into the valueadd folder just to keep the layout somewhat the same as the original...If i needed to add some text files, then I would prolly keep the DOCS folder also, but its just what I do...I did say that it could have been an option as to whether you wanted it removed...but I think the multilanguage bug is being fixed hardcore right now, so until that is done, I prolly wouldnt make any suggestions

Im not sure if there is a way to bypass runonceex lines...you may have to include the "%CD%\Install\Camedia\Setup.exe -s -f1\"%CD%\Install\Camedia\setup.iss\" -f2\"%systemdrive%\Camedia.log\" in your autoit script, and just run it as one line instead of 2...there should be a way to do it, I havent used autoit in quite a while, I think the last thing was some stuff for pe, and i havent even touched pe in 6 months.

i hate to make a reply like this, but good idea gandalfgrey...I also think that should be implemented both the filescd and the log file...

thank you...and btw it wasnt a big deal about beta4, just I need to get in the habit of checking the very first thread from now on...I notice most people make the first thread the one that contains the programs and updates...so I do need to get in the habit of checking it.

Hmmm, i see you have sp2 integration, what would it take to integrate all hotfixes, not the ones we have now as most of the hotfixes we install will be replaced by sp2, but with the new /integrate switch, couldnt you write maybe a small batch file that will integrate all those, or for people that dont wanna upgrade to sp2 (for various reasons) a way to integrate through your tool would be great. Eeerrrrhm, doesnt a tool already do this, like xpcreate, id hate to step on toes of people...if it doesnt, then maybe we could include it...or if you wanted, you could ask the maker of that portion for his support and see if he will allow it to be added Hmmm, dosnet.inf is a beast to read after applying nlite, is there anyway you could NOT remove the spaces that seperate headers? same with txtsetup.sif Ok another thing...I noticed that within the I386 folder there are many KBD files, Im assuming most of these correspond to languages, is there any reason why after removing the languages, these arent removed?

delete this...I will edit later, but I should read the first post to make sure someone doesnt post a new version j/k

hmmm, what if we install mdac_typ.exe (I believe this is ver 2.8...may be wrong though, but I install mdac_typ with the rest of my hotfixes) and then I install 832483 later...

Hotfixes For Windows XP Professional SP1

817778 can not be run from svcpack.inf... -
havent tested the final product of running the program, but boy does it reduce the installation... One problem, it deletes the ValueAdd folder...I understand that this is prolly an overlooked folder on most users parts as it usually contains stuff people dont need, but I put programs that can not be installed using runonceex in here for running upon users request at a later time...Could you somehow move the option to delete valueadd out of automatic to a check box...if it is a checkbox, then disregard this as I am an id*** and didnt see it... Other than that, I agree with the tooltips, though Im not sure it needs to be the normal yellow popup...if you wanted, you could just make it to where if a user clicked on an option, in the messagebox, it displays what it is...Like for 1394 driver..."This is used to install firewire support, if you have anything that utilizes firewire or something plugged into your firewire port, and you do not load the driver yourself, do not disable this" Something like that...granted I do not know what everything does, I was just testing to see how much space I can save, and whoooo is it a lot...I may be able to add photoshop or office2k3 now YAY!...

Update to how to integrate hotfixes...
evilvoice replied to Denney's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
well, one question ryan, and all others...when doing this integrate, wouldnt you somehow end up with outdated files...say like integrating the latest IE cumulative patch, and then integrating a previous one...or does integrate automatically run qchain on the files its gonna update to make sure that a newer one doesnt exist (basically doin what qchain does in an unattended install)? It would seem to me that unless you integrate in order, you would end up with a non-working system or a system that uses some newer updates and some older updates... PS...Im not sure but I would thnk just adding the updated update.exe would allow you to integrate all patches this way...I havent look at the internals of the newest hotfix, but if it is all run by update.exe, then within that one exe file has got to be how it integrates into the source...by lookin at inf sections, and updating needed source files...so it should be able to be done...but I dont wanna test unless I know for a fact that integrating these hotfixes this way wont screw up my system if they are out of order... -
Editing WINNTBBU.DLL For Dummies
evilvoice replied to b0r3d's topic in Setup Billboard Screens for Windows
its called syssetup.dl_ -
hmm, try click on UltraFXP v1.07 RAR Package next time it doesnt use any reg settings that I could find, and he even offers the rar package...so next time, check the coders webpage before you tell me that it does not come a certain way ...PS I chose this method so I could add the additional packages with ease.

dude, seriously you need to search before you post...**** nfo viewer has been answered, ultrafxp is a winrar executable - repack it and set it for silent...freshui uses inno setup...now soulseek i dunno, but the others have been answered. If soulseek uses ginstall, youre better off using inctrl5 and logging the install, then making your own installer for it as I couldnt find a way to make ginstall silent

this is my cmdlines.txt (svcpack.inf doesnt work for me, and yes Ive done everything, windows just wont run it)... and I get 837272 to install ".\hotfixes\DOTNETFX.EXE /Q:U /R:N" ".\hotfixes\DX9NTOPK.EXE /Q:U /R:N" ".\hotfixes\MDAC_TYP.EXE /C:"dasetup.exe /q /n" /q:a" ".\hotfixes\REG_MDAC.CMD" ".\hotfixes\MM20ENU.EXE /Q:U /R:N" ".\hotfixes\MPSETUP.EXE /Q:U /R:N" ".\hotfixes\MSJVM.EXE" ".\hotfixes\JS56NEN.EXE /Q:U /R:N" ".\hotfixes\KB815021.EXE /O /U /N /Z" ".\hotfixes\KB820291.EXE /O /U /N /Z" ".\hotfixes\KB821253.EXE /O /U /N /Z" ".\hotfixes\KB822603.EXE /O /U /N /Z" ".\hotfixes\KB823182.EXE /O /U /N /Z" ".\hotfixes\KB824105.EXE /O /U /N /Z" ".\hotfixes\KB824141.EXE /O /U /N /Z" ".\hotfixes\KB825119.EXE /O /U /N /Z" ".\hotfixes\KB826939.EXE /O /U /N /Z" ".\hotfixes\KB826942.EXE /O /U /N /Z" ".\hotfixes\KB828035.EXE /O /U /N /Z" ".\hotfixes\KB829558.EXE /O /U /N /Z" ".\hotfixes\KB833407.EXE /O /U /N /Z" ".\hotfixes\KB833998.EXE /O /U /N /Z" ".\hotfixes\Q322011.EXE /O /U /N /Z" ".\hotfixes\Q327405.EXE /Q:U /R:N" ".\hotfixes\Q327979.EXE /O /U /N /Z" ".\hotfixes\Q810243.EXE /O /U /N /Z" ".\hotfixes\Q814995.EXE /O /U /N /Z" ".\hotfixes\Q832894.EXE /Q:U /R:N" ".\hotfixes\Q828026.EXE /O /U /N /Z" ".\hotfixes\KB828741.EXE /O /U /N /Z" ".\hotfixes\KB835732.EXE /O /U /N /Z" ".\hotfixes\KB837001.EXE /O /U /N /Z" ".\hotfixes\Q831167.EXE /Q:U /R:N" ".\hotfixes\KB837009.EXE /Q:U /R:N" ".\hotfixes\KB832353.EXE /O /U /N /Z" ".\hotfixes\KB837272.EXE /O /U /N /Z" ".\hotfixes\HMTCDWizard.exe /q" ".\hotfixes\fm2paste.exe /Q:U /R:N" ".\hotfixes\qchain.exe" -
Hotfixes For Windows XP Professional SP1
evilvoice replied to Aaron's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
to my understanding...to use 832353, you must have 828026 installed already, or so it seems, it may have updated files, but they are supposed to update 828026, and not to be used by itself, or thats how I read the kb article...one way to test is to install just 832353 and goto windows update with wmp9 installed and see if it tells you you need any patches... -
Ok a different question...I noticed in a recent post that layout.inf contains the filesizes of every file in the i386 folder...could it be that since I changed svcpack.inf that this is why it isnt running? I guess I could always test it out...
-
Actually, couldnt that be it? if he edited ntoskrnl from a windows distro (ie meaning having to expand the .ex_ file) when he is supposed to use ntkrnlmp.ex_??? Thats what I would have done if I used a boot screen since I dont necessarily like editing files that are extracted and being used or were used at some point. That could be something he could try is expand ntkrnlmp.ex_ and edit that one for his bootscreen...it wont work in vm environment since I think no matter what you processor it is always a uniprocessor in virtual...tho I dont know, just a thought and something to try...if you did not make this yourself and downloaded someone elses premade unattended (in accordance with you must have your own license) usually the boot screen is for uniprocessor on the downloaded ones...I may get responses to the fact that this could be considered illegal, but how so? I said if you have a license, I dont think it really matters where you get the files as long as you own the right to use them. Also, you sure it ntkrnlpa? the only other ntkrnl*.* I find is ntkrnlmp (multiprocessor) though since youre in another country, the could have changed the last 2 letters in accordance with your language...if there is a *pa.exe, then I need to be sure I have it just in case I get a HT chip.

each user startup folder help
evilvoice replied to evilvoice's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
updated batch file...Also does anyone know of somewhere that I can add this file to run before anything starts? Maybe not anything, but I want it to run before the things in "Run" reg key and before the startup folder can be processed...I think the only thing that runs before any of those is runonceex...but any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. -
Im not sure how to do this...Im still trying to work it out in my mind of a way to do this, but I figured maybe someone has already figured this out.. How do you get a file to start for each user profile, but then once it has runonce for that user, it will no longer run again? This is to do add a reg setting for msn and yahoo since the reg setting to make them start on startup is per user and I may have anywhere from 3-500 users (500 is a little high, but I could have a lot of users) and I want to make it to where these messengers dont start. I will be editing this post to brainstorm...but im posting now just in case someone has a way to do this... This is the batch file, which I think is done now, just need to find out where to stick it @ECHO OFFfor /F "skip=4 tokens=3" %%i in ('reg query HKCU\Software\Customization /v Done') do set yp=%%iif defined yp ( exit) ELSE ( reg add HKCU\Software\Yahoo\Pager /v "launch on startup" /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f reg add HKCU\Software\Yahoo\Pager /v "tour" /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f reg add HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run /v MSNMsgr /t REG_SZ /d "" /f reg add HKCU\Software\Customization /v Done /t REG_SZ /d 1 /f)exitNow, where to stick this so that it will run on every user when they login. I could add it to startup folder where it will run....but I need this to run before msn and yahoo are started, and Im not sure if the startup folder just starts everything at once or if there is a pecking order.

Please help with multiple problems
evilvoice replied to evilvoice's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Ok, one more question...doing the ntuser.dat load and unload, does this only work for a certain user? or will it transfer everything I add to it to every user? I guess Im just wondering what ntuser.dat becomes, if it becomes HKCU then cool, if not then I need to change some things LOL
