Hi All I am contemplating formatting and reinstalling Vista clean Trouble is that I dont have all the drivers, as the PC I have was installed with Windows XP. Nvdia - Found updated version Realtek sound - same found updated version Intel ViiV - found version 1.7.1 TV card - found updated version unable to find HP Wireless lan intel onboard netwoek card Matrix storage manager will vista have these drivers already, and should i really bother in trying to gegt thm, thinking just install and run windows update? What do u advise

Well, hope someone can help me out here, my HP computer was working fine since installing SP1. Now I am getting system hangs on startup, if at the Vista logo the system hangs and the windows log on sounds gets stuck and provides a continual distorted sound. Have check that was installed via windows update, and have even re-imaged back a backup from the begining of may and ok for a while and then it happens again. Nothing has installed, so i am thinking it may be a hardware issue maybe??

Thanks I have run a file recovery program and unable to locate the deleted files, so maybe Vista backup does not restore back to the same disk sector?

Does anyone know if Vista Complete PC Backup makes a copy of the whole drive or just the used disk space, as I have recently reinstalled my PC Complete Backup and need to recover some files from the free disk space. Hopefully i still will be able to recover my files?

It is possible, though it would be "strange". Do the other USB ports on the same PC work allright? If yes, as generally the same Motherboard USB controller drives more than one port, it is possible that is a "real hardware" error (i.e. a contact in the port being intermittent, something physically bent or incorrectly inserted, a cold soldering, ...) You can check the "tree" of your controller ports with an app like SIW: http://www.gtopala.com/index.html or SIV: http://siv.mysite.wanadoo-members.co.uk/ If the controller somehow is failing, several ports, not just one will be affected. Most probably you could do the testing with a USB stick rather than with a Hard Disk. Well recovered the files, and recreated partition, formated and copied back files. Whilst i was recovering the files i connected the hard drive to my laptop and ran the program from there, this hard drive was know on my HP as drive no 6. I do have a second drive and during unpluging i must have connected this into the same usb port as my first drive, as now i have also lost the partion on the second usb drive??? So my thinking is that the port on the PC may be the issue as i have had two usb disks connected to the same port lose its partition, therefore maybe a hardware problem with pc any suggestions, as after running diag software on both hard drives all reports as ok no problems..

Yesterday whilst my Maxtor 300gb dive was connected i had a popup error saying something to do with usb lost information, anyway i then noticed that i had lost my usb drive (m), looking through the admin tools the drive is showing , but does not have an active partition. does anyone know who i can get back the data i have about 25gig of system backups

Hi I am having a problem running an unattended install on a system running "Intel 82801GR/GH Sata Raid Controller", Windows boots Ok and finds the required files on the Floppy disk (I did not press F6 windows found the drivers on the floppy disk itself), after formatting the hard drive it started to try an copy the Sata Raid Drivers from th floppy and then reported an error saying its unable to copy... Looking these these forums i can see reference to changing the "TXTSETUP.SIF" and does anyone know if nlite will do all this form us, as its a little confusing to understand and i was just wondering if nlikte could save me the time?
