Can I slipstream Windows Desktop Search and Windows Defender?
Sgt_Strider replied to Sgt_Strider's topic in HFSLIP
you don't need to ... just drop defender in HFGUIRUNONCE ... you may put desktop search in there too I guess if I'll have time I'll try putting desktop search in there as well. -
Argh! This is rather annoying. The only reason why I even use WM11 is because of that feature.
-
When I use to install Windows Media 11 Player manually, I can minimize it to the taskbar. Now that I'm slipstreaming it with HFSLIP, I can't minimize it to the taskbar. Why is that the case?
-
Unfortunatley, I don't have Norton Ghost v.9 or 10.

Can I slipstream Windows Desktop Search and Windows Defender?

I don't need to modify the file or anything? I just put the .exe file in HFGUIRUNONCE folder? Can I also put Windows Desktop Search in there? -
Can I slipstream Windows Desktop Search and Windows Defender?
Sgt_Strider replied to Sgt_Strider's topic in HFSLIP
it depends. they are frameworks that certain applications depend upon. if you use Visual Studio .NET 2003, you need 1.1. Visual Studio Express Editions and Paint.NET requires 2.0. but since 3.0 actually contains 2.0, it's up to you. apps that depend on 2.0 should work with 3.0. personally, i haven't installed 3.0 since it's just 2.0 plus plus and i don't need the plus plus for now. If I install just 3.0, then I should be fine for most applications; at least the latest ones right? -
Can I slipstream Windows Desktop Search and Windows Defender?
Sgt_Strider replied to Sgt_Strider's topic in HFSLIP
Do I need .net framework 1.1 if I have version 3 though? Microsoft's website mentions 1.1, 2.0 and 3.0 as recommended updates even though I thought 3.0 supercedes 2.0 and 1.1. So there is no way to use HFSLIP to slipstream Windows Desktop Search and Defender? -
Can those files go to the HF folder even though they're not critical updates? Edit: Also where does the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0: x86 (KB928416) go? If I install/slipstream .Net Framework 3.0, then I don't need 2.0 or 1.1 right?

Ok, I'll try it and get back to you.

Silent install of Logitech Setpoint 2.31?
Sgt_Strider replied to Sgt_Strider's topic in Device Drivers
Guys, please!!!!!!!!!!! -
just so your all aware, i purchased Windows Vista Ultimate 32bit OEM installed it and registered it online. From there i did the same again on another one of my systems, different board/cpu totally different in everyway installation was fine. went to activate it and was directed as expected to phone for activation which i did entered the 48 digit code into my phone blah blah blah and a nice chap asked the same usual 3 question you get when activating with OEM versions of XP. from that point onwards nothing changed !!! gave me my 48 digit code to enter and bobs your uncle activation was done. so to see if this was a one of thing i did it again on my laptop and again after ringing up to activate and answering the 3 usual questions i was give a 48digit code and again bob was my uncle. so it looks like the nasty rumours about Vista's EULA is unfounded. im aware doing this is in breach of the EULA but it was done for testing purposes only (cough). Let me get this straight. You bought 1 license and was able to activate it on 3 different computers with no problems by calling Microsoft? Why didn't you try activating online?
-
I accidentally dragged the "RSS Feeds" section into my "Sent Items" section in the left panel. How can I drag it back out or go back to the default layout and order? Also, how can I change the default font, font size, and add a signature for a new e-mail and as well as reply/forward e-mails?

Unattended installation using USB stick
Sgt_Strider replied to Philster's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Has anyone here got this to work though? -
Let's put this EULA talk aside. If I end up buying an OEM license and install it on a computer and decides to upgrade later on, will the OEM license activate? Or it's going to be blocked?
-
It said it can't find "devcon" How do you use the devcon thing? I unzipped it into a folder and it still say devcon is missing.
-
You need to make sure you have the latest version of "iaStor.sys", and you need to check and see if the device ID's for that device are actually listed in the storage.ini file. If not, then you need to add them. In a Windows environment (windows or Winpe) run: devcon find pci* This will give you a list of all devices, then you can look at the device ID's for your sata controller and compare. I went into run and typed: "devcon find pci*" and I got an error. Also, what program do you use to view the content inside iastor.sys?

Is no one able to solve the problem that I outlined on the previous page? I'm really stuck guys and I could sure use some help here.

Silent install of Logitech Setpoint 2.31?
Sgt_Strider replied to Sgt_Strider's topic in Device Drivers
Update: I just tried it on Setpoint 2.60 and it does work, but what happens after the last part of the instruction. I got it to run in silent installation, but where do I go to grab the files to place in my unattended CD afterwards? -

Adding Intel SATA Drivers to an installation CD in 15 steps
Sgt_Strider replied to nAFutro's topic in Device Drivers
I think I know why it may not work. I checked the readme file from the Gateway driver and apparently this is the SATA chip on my motherboard, - Intel® 82801GH I/O controller Hub (ICH7DH). I don't see that entry in your file. Is that why it's not working? Here is the link to the driver: http://support.gateway.com/support/drivers...mp;uid=14942519 -
Yes, I have tried to install with one of the two methods that you have listed and it doesn't work. I'm getting very frustrated. I tried looking at the BIOS for some compatibility mode, but I couldn't find it. I think I know why it may not work. I checked the readme file from the Gateway driver and apparently this is the SATA chip on my motherboard, - Intel® 82801GH I/O controller Hub (ICH7DH). I don't see that entry in your storage.ini file. Does your file support my motherboard, i915 chipset? If not, can you modify it so that it'll work? I can test it. Here is the link to the driver: http://support.gateway.com/support/drivers...p;uid=149386340

Hmm that is strange, I will PM you so we can troubleshoot it. Crashing is strange, if something wasn't added right it should just skip the driver i believe. Check your PM! Thanks.
