i am trying to do sysprep on VirtualBox and wondered will programs like Comodo Firewall or iTunes work when i deploy them on a real PC. for Comodo, it keeps telling me i found a bug, and says that defense + is not fully functional (i think becos of Virtual Box) and for iTunes it says there is a problem with the audio, i think Virtual Box dont support audio or something

i am trying out creating WIM images of my XP using IcemanND's Creating WIM images of Windows XP and have some questions 1) is there a diffence between Volumes & Partitions? 2) to format, with the below code as an example, Diskpart select disk 1 clean create partition primary select partition 1 active format fs=fat32 assign exit active is the same as make partition active in partition magic? then assign is for? the code is not quite the same as the microsoft's site's? no drive letters? seems like the drive letter has already been assigned automatically? from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/300415

is it better to use DriverPack BASE or nLite to integrate DriverPacks? but for MassStorage i dont have a choice right? cos nLite doesn't allow me to integrate textmode drivers from Multiple Driver Folder? and abit off the topic, if i want to use nLited drivers in sysprep later i can point to them in some folder somewhere or will they be deleted? neither DriverPack BASE nor nLite will remove either drivers right? for example i integrate Mass Storage DriverPack with DP BASE and the rest (eg. graphics) with nLite

What Drivers are actually needed, in a modern OS like XP/Vista, like i read Chipset drivers aren't needed? will chipset drivers improve performance or anything? i am curious cos i am wondering which driver packs i need and which i dont i am thinking MassStorage, Sound A, LAN, WLAN, Graphics A

i get the error "Could not copy Intel Chipset Drivers From ..." while slipstreaming DriverPacks into my XP. can some1 help me? did i do something wrong? UPDATE when i do not select Chipset for slipstreaming, i get seems like i cant use Driver Packs for SP3?

i am wondering if its better to use the "RAW" XP SP1 original CD Source or a nLited SP2 source to integrate SP3? will there be a difference in size, for example?

Does DriverPack drivers include those on XP CD? which means i can remove all default drivers with nLite on the XP CD?

for (1), if i just leave this missing files, missing, will i be missing anything? only languages? will it be only languages i remove with nLite? for (2), so i can integrate with nLite? but nLite wont install drivers for devices not in the PC, right? so drivers for "other" devices wont be in the installed XP, thus missing? If i "add them somewhere like \Windows\Driver Cache and scan for them when building mass storage devices with sysprep" means i add them to \Windows\Driver Cache then by scan u mean Sysprep Driver Scanner mentioned in the guide? for now, i did like in the guide, place Drivers in "\Windows\Driver Cache\i386" then use Sysprep Driver Scanner then sysprep -bmsd? - mass storage drivers for example will still work? is this right? is this post it? so i run ChangeSourceFile.reg then change InstallFilesPath="C:\sysprep\i386" < not "C:\WINDOWS\Driver Cache" as in the Art of OEM? then the files, ... 8514fix.fon 8514fixe.fon 8514fixg.fon 8514fixr.fon 8514fixt.fon 8514oem.fon 8514oeme.fon 8514oemg.fon 8514oemr.fon ... so many?? and i cant seem to find any files i only tried the 1st and *.fon and *.nls and nothing is returned... even on a non nLite disk... mmm or did i nLite that too? ...
