  2. i noticed my laptop became alot laggier recently... i have attached the log hijackthis.txt
  3. i noticed that my Acer supposed to have a GeForce 8600M GT but when my 3DMark06 and PCMark05 submitted the results to the net (ORB Beta) it shows as 8600 GS? 3DMark06: 3374 PCMark05: 5249 are the results good? for this specs: Intel C2D T9300 2.5GHz 4GB RAM (Seen as 3GB) 320GB SATA HDD GeForce 8600M GT 512 MB DDR2 Pics:
  4. but in the site it says: mine is 8600M GT? but surely it will be better than a 7500LE or a X600? probably with DDR2 too. my laptop is 8600M GT with DDR2 ram. and i notice that in the (what do u call this...) the EA ad when 1st starting C&C3 i see banding in it... wonder if this means anything? in this pic it sems ok but on screen its not... maybe its becos of my LCD?
  5. i seem to notice that when i use Vista, my battery life seems longer than now on my XP? Vista has better power management? or isit because that vista has all that crap from Acer which include their Power Management software. is there any good power management software i can use?
  6. where can i find the drivers for GeForce 8600M GT, for XP? in the NVIDIA site, there is only driver for 8800M not for any others, 8600M GT? my Laptop comes with Vista and i have installed XP, so looking for a driver for it. i have used driver packs but in games, the graphics performance seems sloppy. in Command & Conquer 3 and Battlefield 2, the game defaults to Low graphics. and even if i increase the video config, it does not seem to look much better... in my desktop with Geforce 7500LE or another old laptop with ATI Radeon X600 it looks much better. GeForce 8600M GT 512MB should be better? the specs: Intel C2D T9300 2.5GHz Penryn 4GB DDR2 667 320GB SATA GeForce 8600M GT in device manager, i can see that the video adapter is GeForce 8600 GT but the performance dont seem to be as expected... how can i verify this?
  7. is there any files/folders created that i can delete after a XP install? i am integrating DriverPacks into my nLite source
  8. Would you rather use XP or Vista? and why? is it true that since i need to "hack" to enable ACHI on XP, the performance will take a hit? from http://www.msfn.org/board/enable-AHCI-Inte...XP-t109450.html
  9. i have a Intel C2D T9300, 4GB RAM Laptop recently, so which OS will work best? any incompatibilities? any noticable performance difference? which is more worth? i dont really like vista because of UAC and stuff, very irritating, but XP is going to be out of support soon? but i still like XP... and between XP 32 and 64 which is better? and Vista 32 and 64?
  10. do u think its ok to delete those partitions? i usually format my computers as soon as i get them but not sure if its ok to remove those partitions. warranty will still be ok?
  11. mmm, ok, surprised that even a pro like you is not familiar to this but i have plenty of space so i think i'll just leave them as it is. but if someone knows what tey are let me know, its be good for knowledge
  12. Whats EISA Configuration? in Computer Management, seems to be a partition. the 1st and last partitions as in the pic. this is from my new Acer, seems to be something like a system partition made by acer, maybe for recovery or what? but is it save to delete it? will it void my warranty or something like that? maybe i'll do a full HDD backup... what software is good for this? backup the whole HDD

  16. can i use %SystemDrive%? no? cos it prompts me for the file path? what alternatives can i use just in case i install XP on a drive other than C:\ (for testing) from http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechn...nd/sp1ch03.mspx
  17. it seems my nLited XP SP3 RC2 gives BSoD on a real machine but not on Virtual Box? its "An attempt was made to execute non executable memory"
  18. i heard they got better? but they aren't cheap now!
  19. mmm, its seems when used in sysprep like this, extracted the 7z files to WINDOWS/Driver Cache/i386 used sysprep driver scanner to scan this directory used sysprep -bmsd then sysprep with -mini -reseal -pnp i get a BSOD in a real machine. i did sysprep on Virtual Box
  20. thanks any comments welcomed, i think if i were to get it, it will be tmr. hopefully i can get further discounts since its a computer fair by the way, if the RAM is upgraded to 3GB (1GB + 2GB), it will not be dual channel anymore? is this any worth, it is GeForce 8400GS, but the price diff is quite abit, abt 500 for just a 8600GT...
  21. ya true i went to the Dell US site and wow the prices are very different, like starting from US999 vs SGD1600 in SG... but i am in Singapore so thats a problem... the only thing i can do now is either wait for after a PC show that is going on now till sunday or wait and hope soon after the PC show the price will drop but i am not quite confident of prices dropping so quickly...
  22. why? too expensive? maybe u are thinking its USD? but ya its quite ex... but i think thats the price offered by most brands from google: 1 U.S. dollar = 1.3869991 Singapore dollars when i try going to the Dell AU, i get abt the same price when converted to SGD
  23. Is this dell SG config worth? Dell Inspiron 1520 SG$ 2,227.74
  24. What files are needed if i am using the "No Format" Option? only NTLDR?
