They are not the same. Talisman is for complete shell replacment, Konfabulator allows you to use small programms on your desktop which can show some usefull info like you saw at the screenshots. Did you extract the ISO and burned the files to a DVD or burned the ISO as a file instead of an image. If you did one of those two then it won't work, you have to burn the DVD ISO as an image.

All you have to do is download Daemon Tools and mount the DVD image, after that you run the setup wizard and you're done.

Yes it is possible to do that, Vista will install a bootmanager so you can dualboot with XP.

Why did you extract the ISO? Just burn it on DVD or mount it with daemon tools. You should not mess with the ISO.
