  1. In your other thread, you said "he complains about a missing winnt32.exe or wrong winnt32.exe". Are you or are you not getting copy errors?
  2. Sgt - It is up to you to generate it. Generating reg tweaks is well beyond the scope of HFSLIP, please ask in the proper forum. Thread closed.
  3. Sgt - Here's what I have to disable my screensaver... (I cut out some pieces from my overall reg file). [HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Desktop] "ScreenSaveActive"="1" "ScreenSaverIsSecure"="0" "ScreenSaveTimeOut"="900" "SCRNSAVE.EXE"="(NONE)" [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop] "ScreenSaveActive"="1" "ScreenSaverIsSecure"="0" "ScreenSaveTimeOut"="900" "SCRNSAVE.EXE"="(NONE)" I'm not sure if the word (NONE) means anything or not, but it's worth a shot. As far as the 120 DPI goes, I searched the forums for you and found somthing that Professor Frink wrote on this topic. http://www.msfn.org/board/lofiversion/inde...t21814-800.html
  4. HFSLIP.LOG?
  5. Do you have this same problem when not using an HFSLIP source?
  6. What happens when you install on a VM using the DVD?
  7. Are you using hfcleanup?
  8. Yep, I have some more reducers, but they don't reduce that much more. It just reduces some junk from hotfixes that I believe are packed with junk. One of these days I'll have to get around to organizing them and putting them in the wild. Give me time, I hardly touch the PC these days.

With hives, you can set up driver signature stuff, add in various fixes for timezones, add in ramdisks, and fix the 48lba barrier with 2k installations. I'm sure that there are plenty of other things to either add or delete from the infant registry too. Tinkering with hives is hardcore OS modifying. If you don't know what you're doing, then you may encounter errors during installation.

Hives set the first default, setup infs do a second and final default. If you do a setup hive, the settings may not stick because they may be overwritten by a setup inf. If you use hfsvcpack reg's, the changes will affect all users and will stick. In other words, here's the flow... default installation of windows - default setup hives -> setup infs hfslip installation of windows - default setup hives -> user hives -> default setup infs -> hfsvcpack inf's & reg's So you can see that hfsvcpack infs and regs happen pretty much last step of windows installation, which also happens to be the default user. Hope this helps.

Personally I do reg files in hfsvcpack because there are some setup infs that change the default hives. To get a better answer, you should really ask in the "customizing windows" forum and not the HFSLIP forum.
  12. That's f'n funny! HAHAHAHA!! You made my day dude.

I just tried a VM run of hfslip with FDV's fileset and the hotfixes. All works fine on this side. Btw, when prompted, I select Y to filter FDVs setup INFs.
  14. Using nvidia and the OEM method, you do not get reboot or any errors. There should be info on unattended.msfn.org on how to use the OEM method and drivers. I never had success with nvidia in hfexpert\drivercab, and I never had success with 9x.xx either.

Here's a link to TC76's list: http://users.telenet.be/tc76/winup/_win2k.html You can get there from hfslip.org too. Go through the list and be sure that your hotfixes agree with the list. For FDV's list, you'll need to grab the IE5 updates as there are some other updated OS files. On a sidenote, did all those add-ons work OK when not using FDVs fileset? If you like science projects, copy FDVFILES\setupapi.dl_ and overwrite what is in the sourcess folder. Create an ISO on the sourcess and test it on a VM. You can create an ISO by typing in MAKEISO instead of typing I have read the instructions when running HFSLIP.
  16. Vix - welcome to hfslip. I'd love to changeover to linux, but there are some applications that aren't present with any of the distros. I always had issues with nvidia drivers. I use the 84.26 version because it doesn't lock up my machine during a clean installation. The 9x.xx version never worked for me. For nvidia, I use the OEM method. It's not true slipstreaming, but it works all the time for me, and it doesn't need any reboots.

If you are using FDV's fileset, are you using Tomcat76's dynamic hotfix list? Can you zip up your hfslip.log and attach it so we can take a look?
  18. nh_wzg - Perhaps you can use sysinternal's process explorer to set the priority to be the highest. Can you say what OS you are hfslipping and what driver compression you chose? How long does it take to the hfslip run? To answer your Q, there are no switches to force hfslip run in a ramdisk.
  19. A2 - Silent installers are not HFSLIP related and you should look/ask at the unattended forum. I can suggest to look at unattended.msfn.org for silent switches and/or try the InstallRite program. FinallyA - Same answer as above but look at the device drivers forum.
  20. I set up my drivercab file a while back. IIRC, I used some freebee driver backup program and figured out which drivers were needed after a clean unadulterated install. Once that was done, I just created a folder structure like this: hfexpert\drivercab\1 hfexpert\drivercab\2 hfexpert\drivercab\3 where 1, 2 and 3 were descriptive names without spaces. Then I placed the driver backup files into each of those directories. It seemed to do the trick, well at least I don't get nagged about drivers missing. Nvidia video card drivers are installed via the OEM method. I'm not even using the latest nvidia drivers either. Just because something is newer doesn't mean that it's better. The new nvidia driver just doesn't install nicely for me. Hope this helps.
  21. How do I slipstream this hotfix? Seriously, I don't see how msft can stay in business with free software like this around. Linux/kubantu/etc has practically every equivalent software out there except for a decent media player. Amarok is ok, but there are far better windows based media players (NOT windows media player) out there.
  22. kiki - Only the latest time stamped binaries will remain just as you say. However, the registry portion of the all of the hotfixes will occur. The hotfix INF files are parsed in the same order as the hotfix KB-number.
  23. RBCC - These aren't hfcleanup questions, but I'll answer them anyway. The installation INFs you mention are described in a separate hfslip thread for slipstreaming drivers. It will take some of your legwork to get them to install properly, but it is possible. The txtmode.sif file you mention is puzzling. I assume you mean txtsetup.sif. If you place our txtsetup.sif file in your source\i386 folder and the resultant image installs correctly, then you can leave the modded txtsetup.sif in the source\i386 prior to running hfslip.
  24. You can slipstream your system32 files as stated in this link.
  25. Please zip up your HFSLIP.LOG and post it.
