Firstly there might be a problem, which i forgot to meantion, you need windows 2000, XP Pro, etc, i dont belive XP Home supports this, but if you go to tools, in any windows, thats showing a folder, such as your documents, then folder options, View, just untick the box that says 'Use Simple File Sharing'. then apply and ok the windows. you should then be able to right click on the folder, click Security, add yourself to the List, you may need to take ownership of the file first, then give yourself full access. also, are you sure this is a folder, and not a shortcut? well its worked in the past, only trying to help, but what i would like to say, is if you connect a Printer to a Network, which is controlled by a Server, prefrably a Domain Controller, then you as the DC Admin, can set Permission on the printer, which will affect any use who uses it, like a GPO,

no, the permissions are set on the printer, not on the Machines the above like you have meantioned use a Token, or like a Packet, which is unique to that computer. but cost money, you can elevate Permissions on the Printer, not the users Computer Ethan.

Well if they link up Via Ethernet or are already wi-fi ready, they will have an IP address, and the users can simply type that IP Address into their Web broweser, and access the printe that way, becuase the Drivers will then be addedd from the printer itself, so basically Driver Less, and this is also Free Hope this Helps Ethan.

i will have my say in it then, being a MCSA you get asked this all the time. As long as the printer is shared on the network, its possible, even easier is that it is a network printer, if this is so then you can just use the web bassed interface. to connect to the printer hope this helps, and i havnt read the whole post. just to let you know Thanks Ethan.
