about the existence of PM 8.0.5 Partition Magic Patch? partition magic OS partition problem @Incroyable HULK PowerQuest Partition Magic 8.02 is a minor upgrade to 8.0x. One of the main difference is the need of a serial to activate the product. PQ PM 8.0 build 1242 PQ PM 8.01 build 1274 PQ PM 8.02 build 1278 or 1291 Norton PartitionMagic 8.05 Build 1371 Now the version released by Symantec is Norton PM 8.0.5. Probably a few bugs corrections and some GUI changes from Powerquest to Symantec. Your organization should give some money to Symantec PartitionMagic upgrade

I haven't tried to integrate DirectX 9c for one reason. My graphics card support only DirectX 8.1b which is only needed for DVD playback (i'm not a gamer ) and i haven't start the to integrate DirectX 8.1b to my install (to busy ) although i would like to do that. Some other recommended updates i don't add because i really don't need them : .NET Framework (don't use it except for playing with nLite) Journal viewer (i haven't got a tabletPC) Windows Media Player 9 (use other players) MDAC (only used when i need to install MSDE2000)

@notaustin and RyanVM I'm interested to collaborate to the creation of such a pack for Windows 2000 SP4 to use with these others two methods: 2KCreate and Windows 2K Security Updates by GreenMachine W2K IE6SP1 Total Slipstream by tommyp Currently, i create a 2KCreate CD with Service Pack 4 and Internet Explorer 6 SP1 slipstreamed + IE6/OE6/VGX updates + all hotFixes type 1 and need to create a pack to install MSXML3 SP5, Windows Script 5.6 and set various HotFixes infos in registry (basically the infos from the slipstreamed IE6/OE6/VGX updates & GDI+ detection Tool & ADODB.stream Object). Maybe can we start a new thread to share our knowledge.

I'm currently testing an alternative method to download all needed Critical updates without using builtin download feature of XPCreate. The method use a small tool written by a team of russian authors. WUtooL 1st/ install an OS with the latest Service Pack already slipstreamed and the recommended updates you need. ie OS= Windows 2000 + Service Pack 4 slipstreamed Recommended Updates= Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1 (Windows 2000 users) DirectX 9.0b [note: the current XPCreate version doesn't manage DirectX 9.0c] Microsoft Windows Journal Viewer Microsoft .NET Framework version 1.1 Microsoft .NET Framework language pack (foreign users) Windows Media Player 9 (Windows 2000 users) / 10 (Windows XP users) 2nd/ run WUTool and scan and update your running box. You will have the option to save all Critical Updates. 3rd/ follow XPCreate QuickStart, Copy Recommended updates in the SVC-xxx directory structure Current Hotfixes Copy the various Critical Updates in the SVC-xxx directory structure What Goes Where, Turn off the AutoDownload feature in XPCREATE.INI - Values and Usage [note to Windows 2000 users: the current Hotfixes list on GM website insn't very accurate. Use Windows 2K Security Updates]

SVC-HF1: Yes, but using the corporate version KB889669 with these switches: /Q /U /O /N /Z But we should remove the ones it replaces... KB873377 going to install this hotfix on my running box and come back in 5 minutes if all goes right Five minutes later: still alive and no small WindowsUpdate icon on system tray Checks http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com: no critical updates ! Time to build a new 2KCreateCD

I will keep you informed but i should remember exactly what i've done. Some news: If you use the batch file i have posted on Nov 7 2004, 12:54 PM (page 5 on Windows 2K Security Updates, the mods should works fine. I must admit i haven't built a new 2KCreate CD recently but the last install i have done with my build works fine. Basicly, the batch do the following: checks the existence of shlwapi.DLL (the one we will keep) in CDROOT\I386\XPSP2_BINARYDROP before deleting the old one in CDROOT\I386 compress shlwapi.dll from CDROOT\I386\XPSP2_BINARYDROP and copy the resulting compressed SHLWAPI.DL_ in CDROOT\I386 delete content of dir CDROOT\I386\XPSP2_BINARYDROP remove dir CDROOT\I386\XPSP2_BINARYDROP delete content of dir CDROOT\I386\XPCLNT_QFE_BINARYDROP remove dir CDROOT\I386\XPCLNT_QFE_BINARYDROP I have added comments in the script to help understanding but still remains difficult to read due to word wrap. To help understanding, each new line start by IF EXIST. Comments start with :: Let me know if you still have problems.

Take care that the SID ie S-1-5-21-299502267-179605362-725345543-1003 is different for each machine. Your registry import will not work for another user / computer. In order to know what a computer's machine SID is, PsGetSid from Sysinternals makes reading a computer's SID easy, and works across the network so that you can query SIDs remotely. PsGetSid also lets you see the SIDs of user accounts and translate a SID into the name that represents it.

Looking for a software similar to EasyBoot
Bilou_Gateux replied to Adiel's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Du bon boulot, Incroyable Hulk ! Which version of EasyBoot are you using and would you like to share your work ? -
Strange the order for hotfixes looks good. try to remove .NET Framework stuff and journal viewer stuff. Try to modify your svcpack.inf in the newfiles folder copy it to i386 folder and remove the compressed version svcpack.in_ and make iso and try DOTNETFX.EXE /Q:A /R:N <<< remove it DX9C.EXE /Q:A /R:N IE6SP1.EXE /Q:A /R:N IE6START.EXE /Q:A /R:N JVIEWER.EXE /Q:A /R:N <<< remove it LANGPACK.EXE /Q:A /R:N <<< remove it 867460.EXE /QN <<<remove it "MPSETUP.EXE /Q:A /R:N /c:""SETUP_WM.EXE /Q /R:N /NoPID /DisallowSystemRestore /P:#e""" 329115.EXE /Q /U /O /N /Z 818043.EXE /Q /U /O /N /Z ... Never encountered your problem but in fact most of my builds don't have .NET Framework and Journal viewer. look here and choose if you really need these recommended updates. Post your IE6SP1 package SED file created with iexpress.

Tired of getting the right files for your driver?

Good idea but using .NET Framework ( 20 Mb download) to run a small console tool isn't good for me. -
problem with win2000 unattended ! (with code)
Bilou_Gateux replied to weist123's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
1. XPCREATE will do all the hard part of integrating Windows recommended and critical updates. Windows 2K Security Updates for use with XPCreate 2. keep your app.cmd for installing applications. Remove all Recommended updates and hotfixes from M$ Surrogate is specific to your language but can be added in SVC-HF2 in XPCreate (silent switch /Q:A /R:N)
