  1. Ok I installed the U891711 Thing, but it didn't uninstall the KB891711 update. I then tried uninstalling the KB891711 update manually and reinstalling U891711, but it says in Windows Update that I need the KB891711 update. WHAT IS WRONG??
  2. So I can uninstall the KB891711 update that came through Windows Update and then install U891711 instead?
  3. no I don't. It might have something to do with AVG free I installed it, then I restarted, and when it has started, the AVG welcome thing appeard. I accidently restarted my computer, and it did the kb891711 error
  4. It now pops up at startup with an MS-DOS prompt window saying "Insufficient memory". How can I fix this?
  5. I think it may be the revolutions pack, because it has a different loading screen setup. perhaps taht is the problem?
  6. I have a problem with Scandisk. The problem is related to 98SE2Me, but it is not the only factor, thus the problem is being posted here. Basically, Scandisk no longer works properly. If I restart improperly, Scandisk will load, but you can't see it. The screen is black. The only way I know I'm in Scandisk is when I hit escape, and a white, featureless rectangle pops up, which I proved to be the Scandisk exit window. I tried to see if I could load Scandisk at all normally. I restarted my computer into MS-DOS mode and typed "scandisk". The result was that it froze, stuck at the blinking cursor. The 98 modifications I have installed are - all current Windows Updates - The Unofficial Windows 98 Sevice Pack, latest version - 98SE2me, all options except three - Windows Revolutions Pack 6+ (with Me cd) What could be the problem?
  7. I installed 98SE2Me with an Me Cd. I chose option 1 (installs ALL options listed below [2, 4, 5, 6, 7 + 8] EXCEPT option 3). That means I have Scandisk Me?
  8. ok, I got 98SE2ME, does that include me scandisk?
  9. ok checked out the scandisk.ini file, and found nothing about showing errors while it is scanning.
  10. how do I turn off automatically correct all errors mode for Scandisk dos?
  11. Well I like Chkdsk better than Scandisk because with Scandisk all you get is a progress bar and it doesn't tell what it is doing. With Chkdsk, it actually gives you information, like what exact files have problems.
  12. Is there someway to replace the crappy DOS Scandisk include with 98SE with the Chkdsk scanner used with Windows 2000/XP? That way, when I improperly restart, it actually will fix stuff.
