Hi, still having this issue. I have set the computer to do a complete memory dump as requested. Any help would be much appreciated - not being able to use the LAN for any reason is very frustrating.

Sometimes when copying fairly large files over the Network from an XP computer, I'll get strange bluescreens with no consistent error. I was actually thinking of using Server 2003 as a main OS, but it turned out it wasn't ideal for my circumstance. Still, I think there must be at least someone other than you that needs this. After all, 2003 gets an extra year of support compared to XP. BTW, how long have you been using 7?

Looks like I will need to make a wrapper then. Is a wrapper some sort of script? It shows up as a unique monitor (SyncMaster E2020), so that shouldn't be a problem. It is an LCD monitor connected through a digital port. I installed the driver and latest MagicTune software directly from the website. The software and its services start up regardless if the monitor is plugged into my laptop or not. When it isn't, it gives me the usual unsupported monitor message and then hangs. I know I could have lived without installing the software, but it is moderately useful.

Is there some way to set up Task Scheduler perhaps to run Samsung monitor-related programs and services only when the monitor is actually plugged in?

Sorry for not responding for uh, two years. I was trying to replace the current search program in XP with the old "Find Files or Folder" dialog from NT4/95/98.

This is probably more than you want, but Explorer++ is closer in conception to the Windows XP Explorer, is more customizable in terms of toolbar/address bar/menu bar placement, and the latest version can be configured to function as the default file manager. HTH

Can registration also occur as the result of simply opening IE7/IE8? I will be manually deleting some useless entries, such as CLSID for the IE RSS feeds folder and other useless entries. Otherwise, my system is functioning fairly well with this corrupt registry. I wonder, if you replace those filetype handler entries that were modified to use Ieframe.dll and point them to any non-existant DLL, will this default-browser-opening-every-link side-effect still occur?

Unregistering didn't work. Ieframe.dll refused to either be registered or unregistered. No matter though. Since it has been determined that the MTP Device issue and other sudden Explorer crashing had nothing to do with the IE7 DLL registrations (which I had assumed), I guess I have discovered the secret behind this mystery. Is this useful to you at all, FDV? I guess Ieframe.dll is what allows the "de-integration" between IE7 and Windows Explorer, among other things like RSS functions. Oh, and I guess there's no reason to install IE7, since the DLLs that were registered unintentionally are few, and what was added is of little worry. I've dodged the bullet! ...for now... It'd be cool to add the "open all links in the default browser" feature into the FDV fileset.

I think I found the source of this problem. Based on the findings from my other thread, I decided to a registry scan of "IEFRAME.DLL", and found these: As cool as it is having Opera opening every URL link, I would like to restore these registry entries to their proper data. Would this be possible? Or is it just a futile effort? After all, there is no telling how many IE7/IE8 dlls were accidentally registered. This may even be the cause of the MTP problem. Would the best solution be formatting, or (shudder) installing IE7/IE8?

Well, you can't blame Apple this time; IEFrame.dll doesn't exist anywhere on my system. In fact, this may have to do with the HTTP Link phenomena that I mentioned not too long ago. This is an IE7 DLL, but I have IE6. Crash report on the way.

I would also highly recommend the latest XBCD drivers. By latest, I mean version 0.27, not the latest official version found on the site. You can find 0.27 here. Just a note though that the "XBOX" tab in the XBCD setup utility will be messed up relative to your actual controls. Ignore it.

Specs Windows XP SP3 ATAPI CD-ROM When trying to use my generic CD-ROM drive, nothing happens. I place the CD in the drive, and no activity occurs in the CD Drive (the initial reading that always occurs with any CD drive. I then try opening the CD Drive (on the computer), and it gives the message "Please insert a disk into Drive E:". Again, the CD Drive doesn't do anything (ie. try to move the disk at all). There are no broken-hardware noises, just nothing. Device Manager reports nothing wrong with the CD Drive, and the CD/DVD Drive Microsoft "Fix-it" doesn't report any problem other than "there is no disk in the drive", in which the solution is to insert a disk in the drive (no, really?). And yes, this CD Drive has worked before. After I reinstalled Windows, the CD drive was actually doing something and reading the audio content on the CD. Soon after that, it reverted to a state of not doing anything. Any ideas?

Sorry I haven't responded. I meant to respond immediately, but s**t hit the fan. I was refering to uploading to the Internet Archive, a sort of "public domain" in itself that doesn't provide an environment to develop projects like SourceForge, but rather serve as a library for lack of a better description. It would also serve as a great place to host all that information and hints on HFSLIP that were on his site. Just to note that I am aware that releasing to the public domain essentially means "do whatever you want", akin to the WTFPL. I was vague on this point. Though I have followed your site for quite awhile (I remember when NTTweak was on your recommended software list ), I am not familiar with the complete history of HFSLIP development. I guess the best I could offer here is a development site like SourceForge (though the dislike of this option has already been indicated). Perhaps Google Code would be more appropriate in this circumstance? I find that forums are often hit or miss in this regard. And I still believe a development site like SourceForge is more effective. Glad to hear it. I am not trying to scold anyone here, least of all TommyP or you. Why should I scold him? Without him, HFSLIP wouldn't exist in the first place. Furthermore, he didn't go down the path of hunting down sites and users who were/are hosting HFSLIP after he took his site down. I will send him a PM though.
