It is faster, but I had 24GB of data to defrag, still took an hour on an NTFS partition at 45% fragmentation. With regards to FAT32 same HDD, it took 45 minutes for 35 GB of data at 55% fragmentation. Works much better! I am a diskeeper subscriber now! Both drives now are 0% fragmented, well maybe 1 or 2 now that I am downloading again. thanks Big BOoger

http://www.rediff.com/search/2001/sep/27know.htm This site has some code, in case you are not a big time html coder that you can copy and paste into your website to help protect it from being manipulated, borrowed, stolen etc... It's basic code, and may not be 100%, but I think it will deter people from stealing your iconz, designs, logos, sigs, etc... Big Booger

Bought a compaq in 1999. Worked great for 1 and half, then around November the screen took a s*** on me. I did not opt for the 3 year plan because I thought the 2 year warranty would be great. Well the warranty expired JUNE 2001, so thanks to my dumbass, I had to buy a new screen, uh oh, what was that 600 bucks you say. OHHH yes and get this I had to pay for shipping there and back, and.... this is going to grab your testicles ever so tightly, I had to pay for taxes yes internet taxes. Go with the xtra warranty, you'll thank me. Another reason to do that is, right before the warranty expires, rough the hell out of your Laptop, screw it all up. Send it in for warranty repair. Brand new laptop at not cost. Big Booger

Have 100Mbps connection, but can't establish Network Group

Glad to see you got it back online, way to go. Big Booger -
http://www.practicallynetworked.com/sharing/xp_ics/ read the warnings. It will clarify everything. Another thing you might want to try is deleting all the protocols on both machines and start a fresh connection. It maybe that you have remenets of a previous connection installed or conflicting. Either way, try it. I set up a wireless connection and I could not for the life of me get it connected. What I did was deleted the Protocols on both machines, and did a fresh install. Worked like a woodpecker on a hotdog. Big Booger further, http://isp.vail.net/winXP_dhcp.html try that site for setting up Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol. I believe that would be your best bet as BAH stated previously!

Glad to see that you got that puppy pumpin those 0's and 1's. I have to say the reason it loads slowly IS because its a slower machine, though you can defrag it, add more ram, update all the soft, and that might help. Why don't you put ME or 2K or 98se on that machine? I mean it would sure be the 95 which is being phazed out rather soon. Big Booger

that is my question, does the interface of the mouse really eat those resources like that under sustained click-and-hold? I think its a fluke or something weird, though I rarely click and hold like that. Big Booger

Big Booger Just Caught A Virus Hehehe

Virii sux. C'mon surely someone has experience with this same virus. It's actually my first, through yahoo, so I am very proud. it's like busting your first piece of pie, and most men here knows how that feels. I am overjoyed. It's better than elation or masturbation. Big Booger -

http://support.epson.com/webadvice/wa0303.html Dude your printer is supported under XP. Read that article. Next thing, do what the guy said. It maybe that you have a bad cable, have you tried replacing it? try to get a USB cabel if its a parallel now, and if its now a USB, get a Parallel adapter. The only other thing I can tell you is to uninstall XP, and reinstall everything. Then post your results. The printer sounds like the problem. Maybe its junk. Have you tried using the printer on another system? If it works on that other system, then its probably and XP problem. ANother thing: Printing speed Here are a few suggestions for increasing the printing speed: Make sure your hard disk has a minimum of 30 - 50MB contiguous space available to spool the data to be printed. Run Scandisk to make sure there are no crosslinked files and then run Defrag to see if your hard disk needs to be defragmented. If MicroWeave is selected, black ink printing is much slower than usual. (Color printing speed is only slightly affected by MicroWeave). Turn off MicroWeave to increase print speed. If you are printing in black ink, select MicroWeave only for presentation quality printing. Other ways to speed up your printing include turning on High Speed mode, turning off Halftoning, printing in black ink instead of color, and printing at a lower resolution. Your CPU speed, amount of system memory, application type, document type, and degree of hard disk fragmentation significantly affect printing speed. Leaving the paper selection lever in the envelope position may also reduce print speed. and that's all I can offer for now, at least until you post some results here. Big Booger

embed src="http://www.mchurst.btinternet.co.uk/Rev1.swf" height="68" that is the code you want to take out. Open up your movie using an HTML editor, remove the embedded code, and save it. That is my only suggestion. I am actually not a big FLASH man. Big Booger:hohum

Big Booger replied to Big Booger's topic in General Discussion
I did not clock it per say, but I have clicked an awful lot of these threads and noticed an increase in the speed at which they load! :spaced but I could be mistaken, Reverend are you experiencing the same or no? Big Booger -
One thing, this thread is entitled Tweaking XP, tips suggestions comments, this post belongs in another area. Big Booger

Big Booger replied to Big Booger's topic in General Discussion
that had to be it. And uni, i did an advanced extrapolating of the inverse times ten to the nearest negative interger to come to the determination that the overhead denominator of the positive imaginary number squared when multiplied, equals out to BALL HAIR. LOL  Big Booger -
Make sure that the XP machine has an account setup for the ME machine. Create a local account in XP and then log into the ME machine with that account. http://www.duxcw.com/dcforum/DCForumID2/1403.html try that site http://www.duxcw.com/faq/network/xprouter98.htm http://www.practicallynetworked.com/sharing/xp_ics/ this is the best site I found on ICS in regards to XP Big Booger
