  1. You running them all at the same time? And do you plan to upgrade to a SLi setup? In that case, save a trip to the store and buy a 500W PSU (read some reviews, higher is not always better since it depends on the manufacturer) so you have headroom for later. ANd what are you using 3DVD/CD-ROMs for? That's overkill. And I wouldn't worry about the Ram. Doesn't suck up much energy. I'd be more worried about the cooling and the number of fans in the case rather than ram.
  2. Well that's what I read. And the last link from Tom's hardware confirmed this, for a 2500+ at least. I'll wager that the 7600GT will be limited with a 3200+ too, probably just barely. I'm looking at the 7600GS now. A 6800GT looked nice, but then I saw more benchmarks. It gets its a** kicked when anti-aliasing is enabled. The 7xxx series has much better performance in this. Either a 7600GS (cheaper too) or a 6800GT if I can get it for a steal. Also, I've seen that there is a 7500LE. Haven't been able to find much info though. What's up with that card?
  3. Yes. Much better image quality wise. Cherk out doom9 forum for more info. Xvid also has dual core support if you have that kind of processor. Not sure about the ATi Avivo GPU encoding. I read that DivX has this.
  4. Its about as illegal as jaywalking. Aka: Crossing the street.
  5. I was checking benchmarks online and the 7600GT is severely limited by a barton.
  6. I said let's get back to a hardware discussion earlier. Now, about the 7600GT. How ell does it mach with an athlon 3200? Or would a 6800 Ultra be a better match for it? I don't want to put the equivalent of a 7950GT in my PC and then find out I get the same framerate and performance as a 6600GT. That's simply a waste of money.
  7. Well that may be, but I've had problems trying to fix a friend's MCE. Theoretically, there should be 100% compatibility, practically its lower than that. Anyway, back to the hardware discussion.
  8. I need another scratch for photoshop porformance. I was wondering whether a USB stick (USB 2.0) or another Hard Drive (IDE) would be good. Any other options? Maybe a flash Hard Drive? Like for Compact Flash adaptor? I'm looking more for speed and performace than cappacity.
  9. MCE is a joke anyway. It's just XP Pro with a fancy Windows Media Player thrown into it. And half the compatibility.
  10. The TI4600 can't compete with the 9700. The 9700 was significantly faster per Tom's Hardware's reviews. The 6600GT is a great card; the 9700 was too - it was the best for years. The 7600 is a little bit better, but for media center (MCE2005, Vista MC things) you need an nVidia 5200 or so - anything higher is a waste of money. Grab the cheapest 6200 AGP you can find for that. Dude. Don't worry about that. And by Media Centre... I got my own stuff for that. I'm using Server 2003. No way I'm installing that turd XP MCE. Ever.
  11. Wha?? Why would I care? When I get done with this system... its gonna be my media centre/workstation. Hook up a HDDVD/BluRay Drive and its perfect for my HDTV. Speaking of which.. does the 7600GT come with a component out? I know the 6600GT has a dongle for that.
  12. Yup. 1280 x 1024 and AGP. And the 6600GT only like a 9700? What was nVidia doing with the 5xxx series then? Even an old Ti4600 I got lying around is almost as good as a 9700.
  13. Don't the ram and the cpu FSBs have to match for best performance? Otherwise the slowest FSB slows down both. Right?
  14. I'm looking for a good card to match with my old Barton 3200+ I got lying around. Seeing as how I'm buying a new PC soon, I figure its a good time to breathe some new life into my old wares. I'm looking at a 6600GT to match with a XP 3200+ (well actually its a 2500+ at 3200+ speed with same cache). Is that too much for this processor? Can a 3200+ take advantage of the power of the 6600GT? If not what will? I'm looking for the best match for it. What card makes out the CPU? nVidia would be nice as they have a better value (bang for buck) than ATi. Also I was pondering a 7300GT instead of a 6600GT. Apparently its got less bandwidth and fill rate than the 6600GT though. So what's the difference then? Is the 7300 DirectX9.0c and the 6600 DirectX 9.0b? And what would that mean if its the case? Input please. (Oh yeah, and I'm adding way more ram too but that's another topic).
  15. Contrast is kind of low. Take a look at samsung. They came out with some nice ones. Also, better see it in action before you buy it. Maybe at a local store? To see if the image quality is good and see how it compares to the rest.
  16. Used 6.5 Its okay in my opinion. Xvid still kicks its a** though. Especially when encoding with AutoGK.
  17. I found this software called EarthView. So far its really nice. Low resource usage, small size (except for maps downloaded) and everything is pretty good, except they require a subscription. In order to get weather data, you have to pay a monthly fee. This sucks in my opinion. Any similar software you guys know of? That display this stuff as wallpaper? http://www.desksoft.com/EarthView_Purchase.htm Here's a screen of this: (Except its a background wallpaper normally)
  18. Oh yeah. They're all different. GT is faster than GS and LE for the 7xxx series.
  19. Yeah. But you'll have to check what PCI-e version that is and how it compares to AGP. I think PCI-e 1x is slower than AGP 8x. Don't quote me on that. Also, you're using it for Vista. 512mb is overkill. 256mb is more than enough. Even the 8800GTS only comes with 320mb.
  20. JESUS! Those are horrible screens! No tilt adjustment?! What is that? I'll look at that new samsung screen. The 2000:1 contrast one. Supposedly its really vibrant and crisp.
  21. Ok.... Then in your opinion, which LCD comes closest to Plasma in terms of color and contrast? Ones you can buy without selling your house.
  22. They're good. Try eBay if you're looking for a lower price. Or TigerDirect. Also' check to make sure your mobo accepts a PCI-e at 16x. Some only accept at 1x, since 16x is for graphics and you already have a slot for that.
  23. Anyone try NovaPDF? Its the paid version of doPDF with things like compresion.
  24. Really? Since when? I have no issues with mine. JRE 1.6.0.1 and FF 2.0.0.3
