  1. well i would assume that it installs drivers for batteries. if you are using a laptop, then you need the file, if not, then you don't need the file and you can ignore the error. BUT....you know what happens when you a**-ume.
  2. 4-6 hours playing AA and messing around with my server.
  3. apple itunes of course! i especially like the way search works. i've tried wmp, musicmatch, real and i never even gave winamp a chance.
  4. i got the same error message as sloth did: the file usbehci.sys is corrupted. press any key to continue. *sigh*
  5. well i deleted the svcpack.inf and it let me slipstream. i'll get a hold of vm ware or virtual pc and install. i'll post my results.
  6. well i just wanted to get some input before i try. thanks. i'll let you guys know.
  7. well im happy to know that im not the only one having this issue. lol
  8. i downloaded sp2 and tried to slipstream. im getting the error 'This Service Pack cannot be integrated into a destination that also has integrated Software Updates.' thing is, there are no updates slipstreamed. and if i slipstream sp1, it works fine. i've tried both the -s and -integrate switches.
  9. my friend lost her xp cd, but she still has her product key cause it is on her case (its a gateway). i have a dell computer and have my oem xp cd. can i burn her a copy of my cd and change the product key in winnt.sif so she will have a copy, or do OEMs get different builds of xp and certain keys only work with certain OEM copys?
  10. there are several ways to do this. either use software that does this function, or setup an asp page with a database for username/password. if you will make your own page, make sure the webserver supports asp pages. MSKB article: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...&product=fp2003 good luck!
  11. neither one of those worked. oh well. anyone know how to do that in windows 2000 adv server?
  12. i'll use the tweakui. i did type that command at the run line, but nothing happened and i got lots of disk activity. i let it go for 10-15 minutes, and ended task on it. i didn't know what it was doing or if it was locked up? anyways, thanks for the help guys.
  13. well what i think is causing the problem is that i have AD, DNS and Exchange installed because im trying to setup an email server. i just uninstalled the stuff im not using. sharepoint, sql, iis, etc. i think that may speed things up. can you elaborate on that command? i've never seen it before and don't know how it works.
  14. thanks mad gutts, but bisco helped me out already.
  15. two questions: 1. where is the setting that controls auto-logon? i'd like to switch this to on, so when i need to reboot the server i don't have to wait until it gets to the ctrl alt del screen. 2. is there anything i can do to speed up the shutdown and startup time? it seriously takes 45 minutes to startup!!
  16. i would like to be able to turn my pc on from work. i have the software utility to do it, but im having problems with hardware. i have a motherboard with an integrated nic. i went into the bios to enable wol, but there is a setting for this. there is a setting for pxe, which isn't the same thing and doesn't work. there is a setting for pme, but i can't find any documentation on what that is or what is means. so, i was assuming the nic doesn't support wol. i was going to install a pci nic. well, the wol connector on my motherboard isn't there. i see the place where it should be, cause it's marked, its just the the pins aren't there!! so, what can i do to get this working? thanks!
  17. yeah. got it all set up. works like a charm. thanks for the direction guys. i almost like this better than remote desktop. but it still bugs me that remote isn't working. oh well. least i have access.
  18. ok thanks for that information. does vnc use a different port than remote desktop? i had to make changes in my router to allow port 3389, and wondered if vnc allows me to tell it which port to use.
  19. its not a bsod, just a blue screen. it sits there for a second, the it "crashes". nothing changed at work or at home. i know its making a connection because if i try to connect when someone is logged on, it tells me that and i can click yes to log them off. i have tried disabling, re-enabling remote desktop, that didn't work. i guess i could try reinstalling the client on my work computer, but what i really need to get is some sort of log file to look at. is there a log file stored on the computer that you remote into?
  20. i am having problems connecting to my home computer from work. this has worked several times previously, but now its not working. i bring up my client, put in the relevant info, and it appears to connect, sends username, password and says its loading personal settings. then i get a blue screen, then the client dies. i have tried this from another computer on my home network and same is true. please help me!!
  21. i'd like to imbed some sort of mp3 player on my site. i've heard that it has to be flash, but im not sure how to do this. here is what i want to do: have multiple songs for ppl to choose from. i don't want music to be autoloaded. i don't want it to launch an external player such as windows media player, real im not even sure if that can be done. if someone can help me, please reply or email me at aresgodofwar30 (AT) hotmail.com thanks.
  22. that happened to me too. after i was messing around with my sound and video settings. try setting everything to default, then try again. i think my issue was i set the sound to hardware and 64 channels, and my onboard sound chip couldn't handle it, so it rebooted my machine. after looking at your dxdiag.txt, i see you have two sound cards. one onboard and a SB Live. make sure the game is using the SB Live and the onboard sound chip is disabled.
  23. or you can check out these reg keys: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run] and [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run] delete the keys for the programs you don't want to run. of course, if you don't know what an item is, don't delete it just to be safe.
  24. you can export all of your IE settings from [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main] attached is the reg file i use.
  25. I got a dell about 2 years ago. well i wanted to upgrade the cpu and motherboard. so does anyone know if i will be able to install with the dell oem xp cd? i have heard that dell has some kind of bios checking, and if it isn't a dell bios, then it will not install. if this is the case, does anyone have a workaround? i would really hate to call dell tech support and get some indian guy that i can barely understand and won't be able to help me with this problem. thanks for any help!
